The Relationship between Culture and Developing Education

Abstract
The main purpose of this study was highlighting the crucial role played by culture in education.
This has been approached by discussing some culture factors especially
"Collectivism/Individualism", and its manifestations, or effects on educational institutions.
Employing individualistic culturally-oriented educational models in collectivistic society, and
its consequences were also tackled. Some aspects of education, in which cultural differences are
evident, were discussed. These aspects were classroom interaction, students-teachers
relationship, and motivation for learning. The overall conclusion is that in developing
educational systems; cultural factors should be scrutinized prior to employing foreign
Educational Models.
