Content of Portfolio Portfolio development is not an exercise to
develop new material… it is an organised and convincing presentation
showcasing what you have already done
Select from your existing work, organise & polish Client briefs, needs analysis Drafts, Designs, client feedback Explain how and why you selected a given design Present the end results (e.g. you can structure the
portfolio according to skills to be showcased)
What to Include? Graphics Demonstrated good design skills Demonstrated skills to organise the product
for maintainability and reuse, e.g. File naming conventions
Layer naming (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator)
Good and easy to understand structure (directory structure, CD/DVD structure)

Demonstration of selected parts, convincing the reader that you not only wrote code that works, but also that it is Commented appropriately (author, version, date,
maintenance history…) Tabulated Readable / re-usable by another person Uses accepted norms/standards (HTML, CSS,
programming / scripting language) Structured to support the production workflow! (e.g.
version control)

Direct attention to main points so they can drill down,
multiple ways to access the same content

Prioritise the skills you think your employer will be most interested – more prominent locations for these skills.

Using what you know about the purpose of a portfolio, create a checklist you will use to evaluate electronic
portfolios in digital media
Use the checklist you created to evaluate the portfolio examples you found
Present your checklist and findings to the class.
