EmergencyDismantling and installation BATTERYWhen replacing a battery, observe the following precautions:

P m U i b c s l b c S n p C 1Used batteries contain, among other things, sulfuric acid and lead. Do not dispose as household waste ever. Use the facilities provided by local authorities for this type of waste or deliver to the distributor of batteries.

Turn off the ignition and remove the negative cable first always (-). Be very careful not to touch simultaneously the two poles of the battery with metal tools and not accidentally make contact between the positive and the vehicle body. The resulting short circuit can produce sparks and damage. Avoid sparks or open flame. Do not smoke. The explosive and sulfuric acid can cause blindness or severe burns. When you reconnect the battery, always connect the positive cable first and then the negative.

Care and maintenanceMAINTENANCE Maintenance Service Ford When work is essential to maintaining reliability and road safety in their vehicles, should comply with service intervals set out in Schedule Scheduled Maintenance detailed in the Warranty and Maintenance Manual. We recommend always put in the hands of a dealer for your vehicle maintenance. Tasks to do yourself Periodically check the fluid levels and fill them out when necessary. Check tire pressure and proper functioning of the brakes and lights. Check warning lights. Refer to this end the maintenance schedule on the next page. The deposits of brake fluid, power steering and coolant are translucent and allow a quick visual check. To facilitate identification, all cargo covers and dipstick engine oil brands are yellow / black. If you work in the area of the engine is running, be careful not pinched any clothing (tie, scarf, etc.) In the drive belts. 90 People carrying electronic prostheses (such as pacemakers, etc.) Should not close or complete vehicle with the engine running, due to the high tensions generated by the ignition system.

C

General care of the vehicle when washing off the engine wastes fuel, grease and oil, therefore this must be done only in a service station or a Ford dealer that has an oil separation equipment in the car wash .The oil, brake fluid, antifreeze, batteries, tires, etc.. used should be discarded by the means of disposal provided for this type of waste by local authorities, or instruct your dealer to do to change them. Do not throw household garbage ever or pour liquids into drains.

The environmental protection is everyone's job. His contribution to this end is important.Do not carry inflammable substances in the engine compartment, as there is a high risk of producing a fire.

Care and maintenanceMOTOR OIL Dipstick Engine Oil are many factors that influence the consumption of engine oil for your vehicle. The new engines do not reach their normal level of consumption until it has traveled about 5000 kilometers. If the vehicle is heavily loaded, the engine will also spend more oil.Regularly check the engine oil level, for example, when refueling or before a long journey. The level will be verified with the hot engine and the vehicle parked on level ground. For the measurement is accurate, if the engine is cold it should be put in place for a short time. After the engine off, wait a few minutes to let the oil drain into the crankcase. If outside temperatures are low may be that the oil will take longer to drain. Remove the dipstick and wipe with a clean, lint-free cloth, insert it and remove it again. The oil level can be seen in the film which is attached to the rod. If the level is between MIN and MAX marks, no need to add oil. Hot oil may exceed a few millimeters MAX brand, the effect of thermal expansion. S m a m c p a l r l

The brake system and clutch system are supplied by the same deposit. The brake fluid level must be between MIN and MAX marks, etched into the vessel wall. If the level was below the MIN mark, will illuminate the warning light brake system / parking brake located on the instrument panel. It is important to restore the absolute hygienic brake fluid reservoir. Any dirt that enters the brake system may result in loss of braking efficiency. The symbol engraved on the cover of the brake fluid reservoir indicates that it can not contain paraffin.

Do not let the master cylinder reservoir is empty. This will make the brakes fail. Use only brake fluid recommended by Ford specifications.See Section Lubricants and Lubrication Operations and Maintenance manual Guarantee that accompanies this manual. Use only DOT 4 brake fluid type. There are serious risks of damage to the system if used another type of brake fluid.

Care and maintenanceDEPOSIT OF LIQUID COOLINGNever remove the expansion tank cap while the engine is hot.

The coolant level can be checked through the transparent walls of the tank. When the engine is cold, the liquid level should be between MIN and MAX marks. The liquid cooling, being heated, it expands and therefore could be above the MAX mark. The coolant should be added with a cold engine. If necessary, add coolant while the engine is still warm, wait 10 minutes to cool. First, unscrew the lid only to relieve pressure around the system and wait a moment to remove it completely. Then remove it completely. Supplying a mixture of 60% water and 40% coolant, antifreeze and corrosion.Never remove the thermostatic valve cooling system. Doing so can cause serious engine damage.

Use only the recommended coolant Ford specifications. See Section Lubricants and Lubrication Operations and Maintenance manual Guarantee that accompanies this manual. Do not add engine coolant or water directly to the radiator. Add engine coolant or water, alone in the tank.

Care and maintenanceLiquid cooling Liquid cooling when used in correct proportions, not only protects the engine from damage caused by ice during the winter, but also protects against corrosion, all year round. Modern engines run at very high temperatures, cooling fluids being of poor quality, ineffective in the cooling system protection against corrosion. For this reason, use only a coolant that meets Ford specifications.Do not mix liquid cooling of different color and different specification. Avoid contact of coolant with skin and eyes. If this happens immediately wash the affected area with water.

Care and maintenanceBATTERY

The car battery is maintenance free (does not require addition of water). For the battery to operate properly, keep the top of it clean and dry, making sure the cables are securely connected to the battery terminals. The battery in your vehicle was designed according to original factory specifications. Not recommended the addition of electrical equipment that overloads the system of your vehicle.

Normally the batteries produce explosive gases that can cause injury. So close to the battery no flames, sparks or lighted elements. When working near a battery, always protect your face and eyes. Always provide adequate ventilation.

Contact with internal components of the battery can cause serious damage to health.

See Emergency Battery in this manual for more information on the use of the battery.103

Care and maintenanceRisk of contact with the acid solution and the lead of the battery: If there is any sign of corrosion on the battery or terminals, remove the wires from the terminals (terminals) and clean with a scrub brush. The acid can be neutralized chemically with a solution of baking soda and water. Reinstall the cables after cleaning and apply a small amount of fat on top of each battery terminal to avoid corrosion process again.Keep batteries out of reach of children. Batteries contain sulfuric acid. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Protect your eyes when he was working near a battery against possible splashing of the acid solution. In case of acid contact with skin or eyes, wash immediately with water for at least 15 minutes and then get medical attention. If the acid was swallowed, immediately call a doctor. N

Care and maintenanceTIRES

For your safety when loading fuel, you should always check the tire pressure, considering that they must be cold (take into account the spare tire.) The correct inflation pressure will be in the same chapter Technical data. When transporting heavy loads and run at high speeds, it is very important that the inflation pressure of tires is correct. Prolonged use in these conditions significantly increases the temperature of the tire, which greatly increases its pressure. For this reason, never tire pressure decreases in this condition since it will be well above normal. A too low pressure tires reduce vehicle stability, increases the rolling resistance, tire causes overheating, accelerated wear of the same and can cause damage that can cause accidents. Tire pressure above the recommended impair the comfort, they increase rather than reduce the effects of uneven floor. Besides, are more susceptible to damage caused by impacts on irregular surfaces of shooting.

Care and maintenanceFor your safety (cont.) If you must drive on lower edges of paths or strings, do so at low speed and if possible, cross them at right angles. Avoid driving over tall obstacles with sharp edges. When parking the vehicle, do not let the tires rub against the side edges. Periodically check the surface of the tread to check for cuts, foreign bodies or irregular wear. The irregular tire wear indicates misalignment of the wheels. The minimum limit provided by law for the tread depth of the tread is 1.6 mm. However, it must be remembered that the tire performance and safety, begin to decrease when the profile of drawing reaches 3 mm. The less profound than the drawing, the greater the risk of slipping on wet roads. A good way to drive contributes to less wear on the tires. Therefore, it is necessary to avoid hard braking, hard acceleration to set in motion the vehicle, striking against roads, wells and extended use in rugged roads. However, the most important factor for long tire life is to maintain inflation pressure recommended values.106 Your vehicle is equipped with radial tires. Never perform a rotational cross with them. There are radial tires that support it, but first check with your Ford dealer.

Avoid traversing sharp obstacles. When parking the vehicle does not rub the area of the tire to the curb. Regularly inspect the tire sidewalls as to signs of deformation, damage or cuts. The tires in these conditions must be replaced.Driving with damaged or worn tires is very risky and therefore should be avoided. The same case is when the tires do not have the pressure.

R D P t s m l p d g h t S v t

Tire replacement tires should be replaced if the wear indicator was visible in the tread thereof.

Care and maintenanceABOUT THE GRADES OF QUALITY OF TIRES The new vehicles are equipped with tires that are engraved on its side Classification Grade Tire. The degree of classification applies to new tires for use in passenger vehicles.Example: Treadware 350 Traction A Temperature B

T L m s s e c c c T v t a p m

Duration of the tread. The degree of permanence of the tread is a comparative rank of a tire wear pattern versus another when it is tested in a control track in the United States. For example, a tire will last 150 degree 50% more than standard or a tire tread pattern. The relative performance of tires depends on the particular conditions that each one uses and, therefore, the duration may differ significantly from normal in terms of driving habits of each service and care habits, differences in the type of roads and climatic differences.

Traction AA, A, B and C The traction grades, from best to worst, are AA, A, B and C, representing the tire's ability to stop on wet pavement as measured according to a test procedure on a combination stretches of road asphalt and concrete. A tire rated as C has little performance according to this test. The traction grade assigned to a tire test is based on braking (straight) and traction tests and does not include drift or skid in sharp turns or twists.

Page 109

Care and maintenanceTemperature A, B and C for temperature grades are A (the highest), B and C, representing the resistance of a tire to generate heat and its ability to dissipate it, when it is tested under controlled conditions in a laboratory room a specific treadmill test. Sustained high temperatures can cause a degeneration in the material and reduce tire life, and also the excess temperature in a tire can lead to sudden failure of it. n r l e s n e eThe degree of temperature of a tire is established for that tire, provided that it is inflated to recommended pressure, and without overloading. Excessive speed, no pressure or overloading, either alone or in combination, can lead to overheating of tires and a possible sudden failure of them.

SERVICE FOR YOUR TIRES Checking tire pressure: • Use an accurate tire gauge. • Check tire pressure when they are cold, after his vehicle was parked for at least an hour or have covered a maximum distance of two kilometers (20 blocks) • Inflate tires to recommended pressure according to tables tire inflation pressure in the Technical Data section of this manual.Tires inflated to an incorrect pressure can affect the ride and handling of your vehicle, and fail suddenly with the consequent loss of control of his unit.

Inflation peaks (valves) Keep lids firmly peak inflation-adjusted always to prevent particles entering the valve. To check tire inflation inflation peaks do not leak (recognized by a characteristic whoop.)
