This circulating bath is designed specifically for fecal coliform contamination testing, which is an indicator of E. coli microorganisms and other pathogens. Bath is preset at a temperature of 44.5°C to comply with the EPA Total Coliform Rule (TCR) requirement.

Lab-friendly circulating bath features the digital controller as shown on page 9 for the PolyScience immersion circulators. This highly intuitive, easy-to-use controller makes it simple to set commonly used coliform test temperatures, such as 44.5°C, 45.5°C, 41.5°C, and 35.0°C, or other temperatures from ambient +10 to 135°C. Bath and set point temperatures are simultaneously displayed on a large 21⁄8" x 3" (5.4 x 7.6 cm) LCD.

For operational convenience, this bath is equipped with a tilting, see-through polycarbonate cover which drains back into the bath when opened. The lid is gabled to allow for taller vessels. An integral one-speed (simplex) pump can be used to circulate the bath liquid to other instruments using a closed-loop configuration. For added safety and durability, the bath features a precision molded phenolic top deck that remains cooler at high temperatures and is easily cleaned and disinfected. A port in the top deck accommodates the optional tap-water cooling coil. All wetted components are corrosion-resistant stainless steel and high-performance polymer.

Basic and Standard Digital Controllers are manufactured with the EasyView™ LCD measuring 2.12" x 3" (5.4 x 7.6 cm). The Basic controller reaches a maximum temperature of 135°C and has a single-speed pump. The Standard Digital controller reaches up to 170°C and has a two-speed pump.

Performance Digital Controller utilizes SmartTouch™ color touch-screen display and controls for user friendly, icon-driven operation. Simply touch the screen to scroll through the menus, functions, and options—even when wearing gloves. This touch-screen digital display allows easy monitoring of both the set value and actual value. View screen text in 11 languages. Intuitive communications technology allows baths to connect through a wide range of protocols. Remote temperature sensing and control allow precision management of external baths and devices. Data trending is visibly tracked on the display. Force/suction pumps for external open- and closed-loop applications.

Performance Programmable Controller includes all the Performance Digital controller features and adds on unlimited time/temperature programmability.

PolyScience® Temperature-Controlled RecirculatorsHandle process temperatures from –10 to 40°C—ideal for many routine process cooling needsThese affordable recirculators provide you with clean, cool or warm water without the scale buildup or the costly wastewater disposal normally encountered with single-use tap water systems. A built-in filter cleans circulating fluid. To optimize cooling efficiency for a particular application, recirculators are available in a wide selection of cooling capacities, compressor sizes, and pump types.

All feature convenient "one-touch" temperature control and bright, extra-large LED readouts which can be read easily—even from across the room—and let you check temperature set point and fluid flow rate and pressure with just a quick touch. An easy-to-use calibration function allows you to adjust the unit’s temperature display to match a traceable temperature standard. Optional interfaces for various control functions, such as remote on/off and remote control, are available; call for details.

For added operational safety, audible and visual alarms alert you instantly when operating parameters—such as fluid temperature or pressure, flow rate, or ambient temperature—exceed preset limits. User-adjustable high and low temperature limits prevent unauthorized set point changes, plus built-in safeties alert you to low fluid levels and thermal runaway. The turbine pump models have an internal pressure relief valve that provides adjustable pumping pressure from 20 to 100 psi and a front-panel gauge let you monitor pressure.

The 1⁄2" NPT(F) inlet/outlet ports allow hookup to a variety of external equipment such as electron microscopes, diffusion pumps, AA furnaces, and mass spectroscopy systems.

Note: Do not use water in recirculator. Requires use of an antifreeze type liquid such as ethylene glycol or silicone. See bath fluids on page 31.

Units feature simple push-button operation with a quick-start guide to walk you through start-up. A visual fluid indicator gives instant status of fluid level while an integrated funnel allows quick, spill-proof filling. Integrated ramp and locking casters allow a single person to unpack, move, and install the chiller in minutes. Unit can be operated with two sides blocked for installation flexibility. Select from models with external pressure regulator (EPR) or internal pressure regulator (IPR). These immersion coolers are easy to use and designed to enhance your low-temperature laboratory work. Mechanical refrigeration system offers continuous low-temperature cooling, dry-ice substitution, precise temperature control, and optimal stability. Coolers come with choice of three stainless-steel probe types. All are designed to provide maximum amount of cooling area and are mounted at the end of a flexible head hose. Add the Cryotrol option and you can quickly cool fluid to a set temperature.

R Probe measures 71⁄4"L x 11⁄4"W. This short rigid probe is excellent for immersion in containers such as Dewar flasks.

FV Probe measures at 25"L x ½"W. This flexible probe has a smaller diameter and longer length for cooling vaccum traps, vaper traps, and other containers with small diameters.

Cryotrol allows cooling to a selected temperature (–100 to 20°C) electronically. Simply immerse stainless steel sensor into fluid and set control dial to desired temperature. These lightweight tanks are ideal for a wide variety of processes. Use independently, or with a circulator or stirring device. Unique U-shaped end panels keep tank bottoms elevated to help maintain internal temperature. The 1/4"-thick Plexiglas walls are durable, colorless, corrosion resistant, and easy to clean. Order racks for 6- or 8-liter tanks at right.

Polypropylene and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) balls form a tight cover over liquids. Use them instead of a lid with any of the baths listed in this section.

Use these bath fluids to maintain desired bath temperatures. Refer to the table at right to select the appropriate bath fluid for your application. For operator safety, set the overtemperature cutoff of your bath/circulator below the flash point of the bath fluid you use.

Note: Do not use automotive antifreeze with circulating baths—additives can be harmful to the circulating pump. Silicone fluids are not compatible with silicone tubing.

MORE information!Fluids with a kinematic viscosity of 30 cSt or less can be pumped and used in recirculating systems. Centistokes = centipoise x specific gravity of the fluid.
