The Ventura Freeway (U.S. Highway 101) traverses Camarillo in an east/west direction connecting it with Los Angeles to the east and Ventura/Oxnard to the west.

The city is just 10 miles from Port Hueneme, the only deep water harbor between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Established in 1937, the port incorporates 320 acres of land operated by Oxnard Harbor District and is the home port for more than 60 ships, supporting the offshore oil industry by handling close to two million revenue tons of bulk fuel and general cargo. In addition to oil, the niches that Port Hueneme serves include the import and export of automobiles and the fresh fruit and produce industry.
