REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES

Status, governance and management

The charity was incorporated on 8th May 2003 and is a company limited by guarantee. 1he trusteescontinue to meet on a regular basis to advise, monitor and oversee the strategic development of theorganisation and its financial stability. In order to appoint new trustees, the charity consults widely withinand outside the organisation to find people with organisational skills who know and support the charity'swork. Willing applicants meet with existing trustees, who vote unanimously on appointments. The inductionprocess involves providing new trustees with the relevant literature and a full overview of the charity'sworkings.

Objectives and activitiesThe charity's objects and activities are to provide 'Emotional Logic' training to healthcare workers, counsellors, social support workers, teachers, teaching assistants and managers at every level ofcommercial and statutory service industries who have supervisory responsibilities for staff. Training is alsoprovided directly to families to improve the adaptability and resilience of the upcoming generation. Theobjective is to run courses and support groups in a semi-structured learning environment to teachparticipants to understand the emotional process of adjustment to losses that accompanydisappointments and setbacks in life, and how this affects physical and mental health.

Main achievementsThe work in primary and secondary schools continues to expand, making full use of the wide range of age-appropriate materials now available. A main achievement this year has been consolidating our leadershipteam and its communication with the trustees and our new accountants, so that management, planningand financial systems are in place that can cope with the anticipated growth of activity in schools beyondthe Southwest of England. A growing number of school staff trained as Emotional Logic Facilitators canembed the Emotional Logic method sustainably in educational systems. This forms the basis of our humanresource strategy for the coming years in both education and business leadership settings. A newopportunity to expand in association with play therapy is also opening, aiming to stabilise family life. Witha much stronger accounting system in place, we have completed the transition to be able to demonstrateboth our charitable and traded activities, so that gifted support of work abroad and in underprivileged areasof the UK can proceed from a stable financial base.

Public benefitThe trustees have had due regard to the guidance published by the Charity Commission on public benefit.

Financial reviewThe financial results are as set out in the annexed accounts. The trustees have been able to oversee theimproved financial reserve arising from a well-managed balance between traded and gifted activities. TheFounder has also, for the first time, been able to draw royalties from his Intellectual Property, and sufficientfunds remain to plan an expanded range of activities in the coming year.
