Dear parishioners, This weekend I would like to congratulate two of our serving Acolytes, Eamon Delaney and Bob Burns, who on the 15th October have completed 27 years of service at the table of the Lord. Irene and her family extend their

heartfelt thanks to all relatives & friends

who helped to celebrate her 90th birthday. Thank

you also for the generous donations for the

building of the church and your

good wishes.

Year of Mercy Mercy takes us outside ourselves. It makes us one with the rest

of the world. Or as Martin Luther King, Jr. reminds us, “The first

question which the priest and the Levite asked was, “If I stop to

help this man, what will happen to me? But the Good

Samaritan reversed the question. He said: “If I don’t stop to

help this man, what will happen to him?”

A sign in Springdale, Connecticut, makes the whole subject clear. It reads:

“There is so much good in the worst of us and so much bad in the best of us,

that it’s rather hard to tell which of us ought to reform the rest of us.”

Strange, isn’t it? We expect that God will show us mercy; but, too often, we

show so little ourselves. We believe fiercely in capital punishment; we

tolerate the thought of nuclear war; we suspect whatever is unlike ourselves.

If heaven is based on the same principals, we are all in trouble.

The strangest of all human phenomena, perhaps, is that we take God’s mercy

for granted for ourselves but find it so hard to be merciful ourselves. If there

is any proof that God is “Other”, this is surely it.

Perhaps we cannot understand the goodness of God to us because we are so

seldom good to others. (extract from “God’s Tender Mercy—Reflections on

Forgiveness” by Joan Chittister, OSB)

Congratulations to all the little ones

Baptised in our church last month:

Zac Terry Berryman, Lily June Vernon,

Ella Rose Pruiti, Luca Vincenzo Staker-Mitchell, Eli

Mutai Khaemba and Xian Christoff Vicente. Please pray for them and their

families.

The Wood of the

Cross

A generous

parishioner has spent

many hours

producing beautiful

jarrah crucifixes,

using the wood from the original altar

from our old church.

There are a range of options of both

hanging and standing crucifixes in

different sizes.

These will be available to order at the

Advent piety stall over the next two

weekends (not today). Once ordered,

you will be contacted when your order

is ready. Please note that the

crucifixes on display are not for

purchase as they are our sample set.

THREE EVENINGS WITH ELIZABETH OF THE TRINITYTHREE EVENINGS WITH ELIZABETH OF THE TRINITYTHREE EVENINGS WITH ELIZABETH OF THE TRINITYTHREE EVENINGS WITH ELIZABETH OF THE TRINITY

Our newest Carmelite saint was beatified by Pope Francis last week on the 15th

October. She was only 26 when she died, yet she reached such a depth of

holiness and understanding that she is now being held up to us as an example of

how to life a faithful Christian life. What can she teach us? You can find out, from

the comfort of your own home, by enrolling in an on-line course, “Three Evenings

with Elizabeth of the Trinity” presented by the Centre for

Faith Enrichment. All you need is a computer and an

internet connection. Check it out at cfe.org.au

Lots of other great courses on offer too.
