• Digital Subscriber Line – DSL• Needs special DSL modem• CAN use same phone line at same time for voice call• Always on, no dialing required by man or machine• Much faster than dialup, slower than Cable

“Hypertext is text displayed on a computer or other electronic device with references (hyperlinks) to other text that the reader can immediately access, usually by a mouse click or keypress sequence.” Wikipedia

• Web page: a single file that loads into a web browser at one time.
• Website: A website is a collection of pages on the WWW, all of which appear to come from the same “server” computer.
• HTML – Hypertext Markup Language – the language that tells the web browser what to display and how to display it
• Web servers store and deliver HTML

• Domain Name Endings:
• .Com – Commercial, personal, or miscellaneous sites
• .edu – school, usually college site
• .org – non-profit organization site
• .net – networks or ISPs
