NEWS
5th Sunday of EASTER John 13: 31-33a, 34-35
“I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you … This is how all will know that
You are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” The 8th grade Confirma on program students made dog es as a service project this year. This was not an easy task. They were given three pieces of scrap fleece and were told to use square knots to e the pieces together ghtly. This photo show the progression made when Natalie was kind enough to show them by example how to e square knots and how ght they needed to be.
Reflec on: In today’s gospel, Jesus is teaching His disciples a new rule. He tells them, “Love one another as I have loved you.” Jesus lived this rule. He had already shown His disciples how to love one another because He had already been loving them. He showed them by example.
Because Jesus loved first, then the disciples were able to see and know what Jesus meant when He said. “As I have loved you.” Here are some of the loving ac ons that Jesus did for His disciples.
1. He invited them to be His friends and students and spent me with them. 2. He talked with them about who God was.
3. He showed them how to talk and listen to God. We can see how Jesus showed His love towards His disciples, we can see how we are to love one another. Because Jesus loved us first, we then know how to love others. h ps://rfour.org/childrensmessage_c_22.html Ques on: In what ways do you show God’s love to others in words, gi s, and ac ons?

Come Learn about the Life of
St. Andre Bessette
Thursday, May 23 6:00 - 9:00 pm (6:00 - 7:00 pm Potluck Dinner)
St. Joan of Arc Church Parish Center, Room 22
820 Division St., Lisle, IL
Director of Adult Faith Formation, Michael Lewandowski, will present on the life of St. Andre Bessette. Born in 1845 in the province of Quebec, Andre lost his father when he was just ten years old, and his mother died two years later. His siblings would be sent to live with various relatives and friends. Andre was not educated and had difficulty with a number of professions because of his fragile health. Andre also had a strong and ardent love for St. Joseph. After joining the Congregation of the Holy Cross, Brother Andre was given the simple task of being the porter. At this humble post, Andre began to touch the lives of countless people. Miraculous healings began to take place. Andre would rub oil from a lamp that burned near St. Joseph on many of the sick that came seeking his help. He always attributed all cures to Joseph. His meekness, love of God, and devotion to St. Joseph brought new life and faith to countless souls. To this day, the pilgrims have not stopped, nor have the miracles.
