items “off the shelves”. E.g. Health

Supplements, common analgesics such as

Paracetamol & Topical items”

Regulatory Body for OTC

• In Malaysia, OTC items are controlled by NPCB.

• Must be registered by NPCB before items are allowed to be sold.

• Lead time around 6-12 months, depending on category.

• Can advertise but must seek Medical Advertising Board (MAB) approval.

• Promotion to induce purchase by consumers are not allowed; only trade promotion.
