Final idea

We have chosen the idea of the two girls approaching the abandoned house as our final idea. We have chosen this as it allows us to include a large number of the thriller conventions as well as develop some of them. Our idea includes two girls out in the village when they find a house, which as far as they are aware is empty, and decide to approach it. They through the back gate to find an overgrown garden, as they begin to walk round they spot the swimming pool in the garden, they then notice the back door which is slightly open. As the two girls approach it, the camera shows a black figure walking towards it from inside the house. As one of the girls goes to open the door, the other girl notices this figure, showing a shocked expression.

We have chosen this idea as it will allow us to develop the common thriller conventions that would usually be found from this genre. Some of the conventions we have thought about to include: - Running water (the swimming pool in the back garden) - Shadows (the mysterious figure and the inside of the house) - Victim (typically a female character)

Cast list

Braedie Clarke – Victim- Lauren / DirectorWe have chosen Braedie to play this role as she does drama A- level so is more confident in acting compared to the other cast members and is happy to play the main role.

Amy Leahy – Victim- Lucy / Villian / Director We have chosen Amy to play these roles as she is less confident in acting and therefore two smaller roles would be better suited as she will not be appearing on camera as much.

Pippa Rowe – Camera man / Director

Locations

Our opening sequence of our film is set in the village of Yelvertoft, the main set being the garden of a house in the village and the street leading up to it. First dialogue

and action will take place here

Props

A bag – Lucy is going to be carrying a bag in the first half of our sequence as dropping this will allow for a ‘worms eye view’ shot which we were unable to find an appropriate time to use this shot type before hand. Also it is an item which she would usually have on her.

Plant pots – There are going to plant pots placed in the garden which will look dead as this will further portray the garden and house as uncared for.

Costume list

Lauren will be dressed in black jeans and a light coloured top. We have chosen this outfit as it will fit into the ‘everyday’ wear which Lauren is most likely to wear. We have chosen black jeans so this will develop the thriller convention which the audience would typically recognise with this protagonist.

Our final character is our antagonist. This character will be dressed in all black clothing, so the audience are aware that this character is ‘bad’. We have also chosen these clothes as the antagonist will be appearing as almost a shadow, and hiding behind the girls in part of our sequence.

Lucy will be dressed in a light coloured dress which will allow the audience to easily identify her as the second protagonist. However, she will be wearing black tights and black cardigan which will develop the thriller convention.
