    NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM OF LONDON

    Ive been in London during the past week, and if you are into science I really recommend you to see the

    Natural History Museum. The Natural History Museum is located in Cromwell Road, in the neighborhood of

    Kensington and near the underground station of South Kensington. The entry is free and it opens every day

    of the week from 10:00 to 17:50 (must remember that the last admission is at 17:30).

    Besides its beautiful architecture as you can see in the above picture, it has a lot of galleries and four

    different zones that Im going to explain to you in different updates. But first of all, one map of the entire

    museum and its various zones (you can buy the map there for 1 to help the foundation of the museum).

    Im going to start with the blue zone, which probably is the most attractive to children and basically to all

    of us. Blue zone includes:

    The dinosaur gallery -> the best to see properly this gallery is to arrive early, because at 11:30there is a cue that at least 45 minutes.

    The marine invertebrates gallery -> where you can see sea stars, corals and mollusks.

    The fishes, amphibians and reptiles gallery -> where you can see a giant tortoise, komodo dragonsand fish that live deep in the sea.

    The mammals gallery -> where you can see a lot of mammals and also skeletons of them.

    The human biology gallery -> where you can see how works the brain, learn more about hormonesand about genes.

    The mammals (blue whale) gallery -> in this gallery you can see massive mammals and a big bluewhale on the ceiling that its the biggest animal ever.

    The images of Nature gallery -> where you can see beautiful artworks of nature.

    Minerals gallery -> where you can see a huge collection of minerals.

    The vault gallery -> in this gallery you can see some famous diamonds, crystals, meteorites andgems.

    Creepy crawlies gallery -> this gallery shows how arthropods live, and talk about ants, spiders,termites and more.

    Our place in evolution gallery > where you can find a Neanderthal skull and you can see thecharacteristics that we have in common with gorillas and chimpanzees.

    Ecology gallery -> you will know more about the cycle of water, air, earth and environment ingeneral.

    Fossil marine reptiles gallery -> where you will see a giant land mammal and what lived in theocean during dinosaurs.

    Central hall -> where you can see a statue of Charles Darwin and the famous skeleton of theDiplodocus.

    And here you have a map of only the green zone with the different galleries on it. Remember that the

    best way of going directly to this zone is to use the Cromwell Road entrance, which leaves you in the

    Centre Hall where you can see the big and famous skeleton of the dinosaur.

    Now we are going to talk about red zone. This zone talks about volcanoes, our earth model and

    earthquakes. This zone is divided into 8 galleries:

    Earth lab -> where you can explore the Britain geology.

    Earth today and tomorrow gallery -> here you can find the Cranbourne meteorite and you willlearn more of how the ways humans live affect the earth.

    Earths treasure gallery -> you will find rocks, minerals and gems.

    From the beginning gallery -> this gallery took us to the moment after the big bang and we candiscover primitive sea creatures.

    Lasting impressions gallery -> we will see how the waves made marks into the rocks and fossils.

    The power within gallery -> we will know what the causes of earthquakes and volcanos are.

    Restless surface -> where we will be able to examine a stalagmite and discover new stones.

    Earth hall -> we will find a giant metallic globe that introduce us to the red zone.

    And here you have a map of only the red zone with the different galleries on it. Remember that the best

    way of going directly to this zone is to use the Exhibition road entrance.

    And the last zone is the orange one where you can explore the Darwin center. It only has four different

    spaces:

    Cocoon -> its a futuristic building and you will see projections.

    Attenborough studios -> where you will see shows and films.

    Wildlife garden -> you will see plants and natural habitats inside the city. Here you have a map.

    Zoology spirit building -> you will be able to see a huge rang of species collected by Darwin.And now here you have a map of the orange zone. Note that the best entrance to go directly to this zone

    is from Courtyard.

    And after all the four zones finally we are going to talk about Evolve. Evolve is the Natural history museum

    magazine and it contains interviews and some of the most important news about science. It also talks

    about research and in every issue it talks about important men and women that left their mark into the

    science history.

    Every issue has a cost of 4 and you can subscribe to the entire year (there are four every year) for only

    16. Although, there is an offer until 31 st of August where you can subscribe for only 15. I really

    recommend you to subscribe to it, because all the news and interviews that they post are really

    interesting and they will explain the science world to you in an easier way.
