Thanks! You continue to amaze and impress me with your participation at our congregational meetings. I was a bit concerned about the quorum requirement for the meeting a few weeks ago and you came through once again. The meeting was quick as we approved annual reports and looked at the excess funds on the 2019 distribution plan. The Wish List was presented and we’ll continue to update and publish the list throughout the year. The pot luck following the meeting was delicious – we have fabulous cooks in the congregation. We also posted the charts from the council retreat. You’ll be seeing them again so you can see our progress throughout the year. We encourage your comments and suggestions whenever you think of them.
We’ll soon begin our Lenten journey. I encourage you to attend the weekly bible study, mid-week services, weekend worship and your personal commitment. CLC has many ways to serve others if this is an option for you. If in doubt, contact our Service Team.
I’ve recently returned from a trip to Disney with our Grands. As I flew through space, spun among the
galaxies and visited countries around the world, it reminded me of the miracles that surround us every day. That same magic comes to us continuously when we open ourselves to wonders God has given to us.
Peace and hope for the days ahead.
Linda Vance
P.S. I would be remiss if I didn’t say something about the sound system. We have volunteers working the sound booth, their training is OJT and everything isn’t always perfect. We were required to purchase new microphones to comply with federal regulations, presenting more learning opportunities. We have a dedicated team working to make our worship experience the best it can be. We are in constant contact with the vendors and will seek external consultants to help. If you feel the need to express your angst, please contact me, our sound booth operators aren’t the problem. Please be patient as we work through the issues.

S.E.T. resumes March 1 after worship in Fellowship Room C. The topic is an eight week survey of “Christianity’s Family Tree” using Adam Hamilton’s book with DVD. Each week we explore the faith practices of a different Christian denomination: Orthodoxy, Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Anglican, Baptist, Pentecostal, and Methodist. Also, if you have experiences with one or more of these denominations that you would like to share please contact Rick Tenny.
3 X 3 Summer Groups3 X 3 Summer Groups3 X 3 Summer Groups3 X 3 Summer Groups
It’s already time to think about warmer summer weather and signing up for summer 3x3 groups. The groups are a wonderful opportunity for food, friend-ship, and fellowship. The 3x3 groups get together 3 times over a 3 month period- May, June, and July(August is an extra month, if necessary). These meals can be at a restaurant, or at a home for any meal – breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner. If in a home, the hostess provides the main dish and a side, and the other couples provide the salad/vegetable and dessert. Or change it up and do what-ever your group desires! Singles are invited too! Just ask another single to pair with you and sign up on the same line on the signup sheet! Questions? Call Monica Jahn at 287-0856. The signup sheet is on the Bulletin Board for the month of March. Groups assignments will be made in early April and 3x3s will begin in May.

of Blessing of Blessing of Blessing of Blessing
Stephen Ministry will sponsor a program on giving and receiving a blessing by Pastor Joe Nilsen on Monday March 9 at
2:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall B. The Lutheran Handbook states that a Christian blessing is a declaration of the gospel to a specific individual and should be dispensed liberally. Many Christians give and receive a blessing frequently without really thinking about it – such as when someone sneezes. Come join us to learn more about this Christian Act.
All are welcome!

Time to Celebrate!Time to Celebrate!Time to Celebrate!Time to Celebrate!
The official date that Christ Lutheran Church was sited as an ELCA congregation is November 4, 1990. However, a group of energetic Lutherans began to plan for our congregation in 1985.
So, it really is time to celebrate!
Watch this space in the coming months for a little history.

What is a Shepherding Group?
These are groups at CLC that have been established for the purpose of caring for and supporting our members. They have been in existence since Pastor Olin and are formed based on one’s geographic location.
Each group has two Shepherd Leaders who serve as the contact person(s) for the group. Each Head Leader is responsible for maintaining the addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses of the individuals in their group. The leaders may also be in contact with group members for the following reasons: 1) in case of a natural disaster or other
emergency situation; 2) to help provide food, transportation, or
other services for someone in the group; 3) to request help or soup for the Lenten
Soup Suppers.
As a member of a Shepherding Group, one needs to keep their leader informed of any changes in contact information. Should you be gone for extended periods of time, it would be helpful to place a card across your church mail box stating your return date.
A list of the Shepherding Leaders and their group members can be found on the bulletin board and a copy will be placed in your mail box by the end of March.
Christ Lutheran Church strives to fulfill our mission of being a “Caring community of the baptized people of God…” We want to know when our members need assistance with meals (funerals or illnesses), appointments (doctor’s) or visits. We want everyone to feel that they are cared about and cared for.
We are a church family.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIESSERVICE OPPORTUNITIESSERVICE OPPORTUNITIESSERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
At Christ Lutheran our Welcome Team reaches out to people in our community in several ways; They can serve as Christ Callers who contact or visit those who have shown an interest in Christ Lutheran: They also prepare the new member packets containing all of the information necessary to allow a new member to become more easily integrated into the congregation or they can serve as Greeters who welcome people to each service. Neighborhood Shepherding Groups are also part of the Welcome Team and they canvass the neighborhoods around Christ Lutheran to invite people to worship as well as keeping track of members to ensure that none of us “fall through the cracks”. If you are interested in an opportunity to serve on the Welcome Team, Please contact Linda Ferris for further information.

CLC Constitution ReviewCLC Constitution ReviewCLC Constitution ReviewCLC Constitution Review
The Congregation Council will be reviewing our current Constitution to ensure that it is compatible with the Synod’s Model Constitution.
This is a good time to make any other changes to meet the need of our congregation. If you have any recommendations for changes to the Constitution, please submit them to Bonnie Irvin ([email protected]) or Denise Knebel ([email protected]) by March 21
The Constitution Review Team will review any suggestions to make certain they are within Synod guidelines and then pass the suggestion on to the Congregation Council for consideration.
