Monday we had some wonderful salads (mixtures) and smoothies (solutions). Ask your fourth grader why those delicious foods fall into that category. We will be able to swim at the Y on Thursday, so don’t forget your swimsuit and a towel. Book Reports are also due on Thursday. We will present on Thursday and Friday. Have a wonderful Spring Break. Fill in the blank memory for 03/26/14 is Jesus answered him “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3 (ESV).

FIFTH GRADE - Mrs. Schatte: We're having a great Lutheran School's Week! What a blessing to attend First Lutheran School! Remember...final draft of the country report is due Friday. We do not have a regular spelling or reading test this week. With so many activities happening, sick kids, late work, and what-not, we need to play catch-up. MATHCOUNTS: Please consider joining us for MathCounts on Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30. We work on some

interesting math challenges AND there’s always food!! PO-HI, HI-STEPPER TRYOUTS: Po HI-Stepper tryouts are quickly approaching. There will be an informational parent

meeting on Tuesday, March 25th at 5:30 pm in the Howell Auditorium. Tryout clinic begins on Tuesday, April 1st at 7:00 am in Robson Fieldhouse. Tryouts are Wednesday, April 9th at 4:00 pm. Come out and join the fun!!

ELIGIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE (team sports, cheerleading, or other extra-curricular activities): With the approaching track season, please remember that students involved in extra-curricular activities will have their grade status evaluated at the beginning of every three weeks. A student who has a grade below 70% in any subject will be put on probation. During that time, the student will be given an opportunity to raise the grade above 69.9%. The student must take action to raise the grade. Failure to raise the grade will result in suspension from the extra-curricular activity until the next three week grade check. After the first probationary period, a student will be suspended from the extra-curricular activity when any grade drops below 70%. Suspensions are enforced and lifted on the first school day of the week. (Any students failing a subject on their report card will be suspended from extra-curricular activities until all grades are passing at the three week check point.)

Mrs. Harbeson: This is it! The last Chatter before our greatly anticipated Spring Break! With everything going on, we've really been busy around school this week, and the long break will truly be a blessing. First of all, thank you to Mr. Birnbaum for allowing us to celebrate National Lutheran Schools' Week with all the fun dress up days and activities. We also thank Mrs. Hanson for all her hard work and dedication to the spring musical. The scenery and stage props are phenomenal, and the actors have done an amazing job! I'd like to encourage all to attend the final performance of "Acorns to Oaks" on Thursday evening at 6:30 in the gym. In language, all classes will have their grammar tests tomorrow, and folders are due on Friday for a test grade. If your student won't be here on Thursday or Friday, please have him or her hand in their folder before you leave. I have reminded all of the students to do this several times during class; the folder is counted as a test grade so it is imperative for it to be handed in. I hope you all have an enjoyable Spring Break! Safe travels to all...blessings!

Mrs. Hanson: SPRING BREAK!!! I know we all are in need of this break but it doesn't officially start until Saturday! We still have plenty of content to cover and work to do! 8th Grade is wrapping up genetics and will be testing this Friday. 7th Grade will carry their study of the atmosphere over Spring Break. No tests this week. 6th Grade has finished work and machines and will be testing Thursday.

Mrs. Goll: Happy National Lutheran Schools' Week! I'm looking forward to seeing all the parents at our musical on Thursday evening. Mrs. Hansen and the students have worked so hard on this. It will be a great show with a great message! Enjoy spring break! Algebra parents, ask your student about the quadratic formula; pre-algebra parents, ask about similar and congruent figures. Seventh grade pre-algebra is continuing to study linear equations; seventh grade general math is learning about scale drawings. Sixth graders are finishing a unit on proportions or a unit on percents.

Mr. Watters: Academics: All grades will have an exam on Friday. Students have been alerted that if they are not going to be here on Friday, they will be responsible for the exam on Thursday. Athletics: Of course the big news is our girls going to Lutheran nationals at the end of this month. Go Lady Cardinal! Track will begin after spring break and the schedule of meets should be available after spring break. I hope everyone has a great break and be ready to come back for that fourth quarter.
