From the Director‘I wanted to direct The Addams Family musical because of its high energy, fantasticscore and iconic characters. It’s also a huge amount of fun! I’ve thoroughly enjoyedbeing at the helm of a big musical such as this and I have many people to thank for theirincredible support, including Susan Austin, Jo De Goldi, Taylor Holmes, Lawrie Esmond,Shirley Whitehouse, Ann Brit, Ralph Lenton, Sue Lenton and Leeanne Shultz, plus allthe volunteers at GCLT for their overwhelming support and guidance over the last twelvemonths. Jay Ahrens

DIRECTOR: Jay AhrensJay Ahrens has performed in Gold Coast productions overthe past 20 years, most recently in Back To The 80s(GCLT, 2017), The Phantom Of Opera (SpotlightTheatrical Company, 2013) and The Drowsy Chaperone(STC, 2013). Jay also performed in Warner Bros. MovieWorld’s Fright Nights. In 2017, Jay had the opportunity todirect a one act play, the dark comedy A Murdered Mysteryat GCLT alongside Susan Austin, which was nominated fora Dolphin Award as part of the One Act Play season.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: Susan AustinSusan is a producer, writer and director in the film,television and theatre industry. Her first productionApparitions was awarded 2015 Best Short Horror Film inthe REEL Horror Film Competition held by Warner Bros.Movie World. Since then, Susan has completed the indieshort Beautiful Scars which won the Audience ChoiceAward in the 2018 Screen-It Film Festival. This year,Susan also completed a TV Pilot HTSTAWS, which iscurrently being pitched to networks. The story wasdeveloped together with her actor son, David JamesAustin. Susan was also Assistant Director in the One ActPlay A Murdered Mystery at GCLT in 2017.

MUSICAL DIRECTOR: Taylor HolmesTaylor Holmes is a passionate Musical Director, instrumentalteacher, trombonist and performer, currently completing a BAin Drama and Music at UQ. She also holds a Certificate ofContinuing Education in Musical Theatre at the GriffithConservatorium of Music (2015) and AMEB Certificate ofPerformance Honours for Vocal (2014). She has musicallydirected Heathers (On The Boards Theatre Company),Ladies in Black (Brisbane Arts Theatre), Blood Brothers(Javeenbah) and Avenue Q (BAT). Her lead trombone creditsinclude Curtains (BTG 2018), South Pacific (QMT 2018),Oliver! (Spotlight 2018) and performances include Cinderella(QMT 2017) and Jesus Christ Superstar (QMT 2016).

Jo has a long list of performing credits, from her first TVappearance at four years to her professional theatre debut at10. She joined the circus at 18, travelling Australia and Asiaand now runs Showbiz Express Circus & Dance in Oxenford.Jo was on Team Delta during Season 4 of The Voice andhas performed with numerous celebrities from TommyHanlon, to Rhonda Burchmore. Her last musical role was inGCLT’s Back to the 80s. This is Jo’s first taste of theproduction side of musicals and she’s thrilled to bechoreographing such a wonderful show. She’d like to thankher family for their support.

Daniel made his community theatre debut with Engadine MusicalSociety in 2007 in Disney’s High School Musical. Since then Danielhas almost constantly been on stage for many companies aroundSydney and now the Gold Coast. Some of his favourite roles to dateinclude Jonas in Leap of Faith with Rockdale Musical Society, Judasin Jesus Christ Superstar with EMS, Mark in Rent with SMT, Fiyero inWicked with Miranda Musical Society and Carmen in The Producerswith Regals. In real life, Daniel works in a trampoline park, lovesplaying gigs and always on the lookout for his next show!

As a singer/songwriter Cat has toured nationally with heroriginal music in various bands. You may have seen her locally asJustice in Rock of Ages, Anita in West Side Story, Maureen in Rent,Gypsy Rose Lee in Gypsy, Meg in Brigadoon and Jellylorum in Cats.Cat is a principle performer for Burlesque Dolls Australia and has hadthe opportunity to perform and tour with many well-known artistsincluding pop icon Taylor Dayne. Cat absolutely loves to perform andcouldn’t resist the opportunity to return to Gold Coast Little Theatre toplay the dark, seductive and classy Morticia.

George Pulley loves acting, singing, dancing, and showing off hisstrengths in all forms of theatre. From his first role as Young Marlowein Canberra Repertory Society's She Stoops to Conquer (for whichhe was nominated for a CAT award), to his most recent appearanceas a soloist in GCLT's The Sound of Musicals, George brings passionand enthusiasm to his roles. A talented young man, George is lookingto expand his repertoire, and branch out into the professional world.When not practising his acrobatics,he sings, plays the piano, and islearning the banjo.

GRANDMAMA: Kara HoldomKara Holdom has been acting and singing since her firstschool musical in 1987. She completed her Bachelor of AppliedTheatre at Griffith University then began teaching Drama in 2009. Acharacter actor, Kara has played diverse roles, including Alfred PDoolittle in My Fair Lady and Bianca in Othello (Mt Isa TheatreCompany, 2017). 2019 marks Kara’s return to the GCLT, lastappearing in Red, Hot and Cole in 2008. She has also appeared inproductions for Spotlight. For the past decade, Kara has taught inremote and disadvantaged schools in the NT and FNQ, encouragingyoung voices to speak through theatre and creativity.

With a keen eye for storytelling, Chloe is delighted to be treadingGCLT’s stage for the first time. She recently graduated high schoolwith a Diploma of Business and a NYFA senior award for ‘Excellencein Dramatic Performing’. Chloe has recently performed in productionsat Spotlight Theatre such as Catch Me If You Can (Ensemble), TheLittle Mermaid (Andrina/Ariel Understudy), Legally Blonde Jr. (ElleWoods), Curtains (Georgia Hendricks) and Lés Misérables(Ensemble) and is Assistant Director for Kinky Boots. She is humbledto share in this experience and would like to thank the cast and crewfor their endless support.

Tahlia's love of performing began when she was three. By the agefive, she was competing in eisteddfods and was awarded MostPromising Song and Dance Performer in 2017. Tahlia is part ofSpotlight Youth Theatre and has performed in The Wizard of Oz(2015), Rapunzel (2017), Snow White (2018), Jack and TheBeanstalk (2018), Seussical Musical Theatre Showcase (2018),Spark and the Crystal Crusade (2019), The Little Mermaid (2019) asFlounder and she will appear in the upcoming Thoroughly ModernMillie (2019) as Miss Dorothy. Tahlia is looking forward to performingher role as Pugsley and is grateful for the opportunity.

LURCH: Lawrie Esmond

MAL BEINEKE: David LawGraduating from Bond University in 2007, David has been working inthe film and television industry and gathering musical and dramaticcredits ever since. His screen credits include Flipper, The WayneManifesto and most recently, Thor Ragnarok. David's stageproductions include Oliver! (Spotlight Theatrical Company, 2018),Blackrock, The Tempest (Mercury's Wings Theatre Company,2017) and Grease. Most recently, David appeared as James inSecret Bridesmaids’ Business and Rick in Away on the Gold CoastLittle Theatre stage this year.

WEDNESDAY ADDAMS: Chloe Smith

PUGSLEY ADDAMS: Tahlia Gibson

Lawrie’s career in theatre began just 13 years ago, playing the role ofCaiaphas in the Ipswich Orpheus Chorale presentation of JesusChrist Superstar. This classic rock opera would lead to theatreperformances in Sweeney Todd, Broadway in Concert, Showboat,The Desert Song, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoatas well as operatic performances in La Traviata and Pagliacci.Classically trained in piano, violin and guitar and with 40 years’experience as a recording and touring musician and Live SoundEngineer, Lawrie is delighted to be back performing as Lurch in GoldCoast Little Theatre’s production of The Addams Family.

This is Peta’s second show with GCLT and she is thrilled to be backtaking on the role of Alice in The Addams Family. Some previouscredits include The Penelopiad, Communicating Doors (Javeenbah),Pins and Needles, The Naked Truth, The Uninvited, Wait Until Dark,How the Other Half Loves (Tugun Theatre), Wolf Lullaby (GCLT),The Wizard of Oz, The Phantom of the Opera (Spotlight) andOklahoma! (Tweed Theatre). When not performing, Peta continues towork on her Soprano range or has her head in a book. She wishes tothank to her singing teacher Ros and family for all their love andsupport.

Nic Van Lits is an energetic young performer from Johannesburg,South Africa, who is constantly trying to improve himself and expandhis horizons. Nic has performed in The Mystery of Edwin Drood(2016), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat (2017) andWe Will Rock You (2019) at Spotlight Theatre. He has also appearedin Heathers: the Musical (Phoenix Ensemble, 2017), Lord of the Flies(Beenleigh Theatre Group, 2018) and The 25th Annual PutnamCounty Spelling Bee (Javeenbah Theatre Company, 2018). Nicwould like to thank his parents for supporting his dream and theproduction team for including him in this awesome experience.

ANCESTOR: Monica Adair

ANCESTOR: Taylor AlteratorEntertaining is in Taylor’s genes. She’s been dancing and singing atShowbiz Express Circus & Dance since she could walk and teachesat the studio. She was part of their performance team and hasworked with the Gold Coast Theatre Awards, EKKA, corporate gigsand been lucky enough to work with celebrities such as Rob Mills,Jack Webster and Rhonda Burchmore. Taylor was part of thetechnical team in GCLT’s production of Back to the 80s but this is herfirst musical onstage. Taylor would like to thank her family and friendsfor their support.

Monica Adair is a 19-year-old singer/songwriter originally fromMackay. Beginning singing and piano lessons at nine years old,Monica has been performing as a solo singer/songwriterprofessionally since she was 12. Monica won the Winter MoonFestival’s Songwriting Competition at age 15 and attended a MusicTheatre school throughout high school. Taking a break from theatrefor the past two years, this is Monica’s first appearance in a musicalon the Gold Coast. Balancing rehearsals between university, a parttime job and being a recording artist; Monica hopes to improve herskills in all areas while having fun in theatre.

Rodney Arthur has enjoyed a diverse performing career. He hasplayed characters such as Max in The Producers, Danny in Grease,Trekkie in Avenue Q, Hedwig in Hedwig and the Angry Inch andEdna in Hairspray. Rod has also been a featured extra in Pirates ofthe Caribbean and is happy to show anyone his 30 seconds of famein a Disney movie. In 2018, Rod played the lead in two short films,Never Plain Sailing and 1999. Whilst Rod has a MBA, musical theatreis his passion and a great help with the day-to-day stresses ofbusiness life.

ANCESTOR: Shelley Grace

ANCESTOR: Sarah HuntSarah Hunt has only recently been involved with communitytheatre on the Gold Coast, appearing in A Kick In The Baubles(2018), Blood Brothers (2019) and The Penelopiad (2019) atJaveenbah Theatre, as well as in GCLT’s One Act Plays Season(2019). At Saint Stephen’s College, where she graduated in 2017,she appeared in several productions including Beauty and The Beast(2014), The Outback Debutante Ball (2015), Into The Woods (2016)and Chatroom (2017). Sarah also has a Diploma in Performing fromTrinity College London, and she judges theatre sports competitionsacross the Gold Coast and Brisbane area. Enjoy the show!

Shelley Grace likes to joke that she doesn’t ‘do theatre’, she ‘isdrama’. Having made her theatre debut at the age of five, she isn’t faroff the mark! Having gained experience in acting, writing, directing,choreography and producing, Shelley has appeared in Aida, Wicked,Chicago, Stops Along The Way, Avenue Q and Romeo and Juliet.With a Bachelor of Arts, dance training and attendance at theAmerican Academy of Dramatic Arts, Shelley is a qualified teacherwith NSW DET and Education Queensland. She is also the SeniorDrama Teacher at Spotlight Theatre, Benowa. Shelley is enjoying herexperiences with The Addams Family.

Jemma is a 16-year-old aspiring actor, singer, dancer and musiciancurrently in grade 11 at Benowa State High School. In 2017, she wasthe first Grade 9 student to receive the Choral Music school award,usually awarded to a Grade 12 student. She is found mostly atSpotlight Theatrical Company where she does her musical training.This is Jemma’s first Gold Coast Little Theatre production but shehas performed in The Little Mermaid, Rock of Ages, Legally BlondeJr, Zombie Prom and High School Musical. Jemma hopes you enjoyGCLT’s The Addams Family as much as she has enjoyed being in it.

Andrew Ravuna has been performing for six years, appearing in filmand television productions Terranova (2011), Reef Break (2019),Swinging Safari (2018), Camp (2013), Dora the Explorer (2019),Pirates of the Caribbean 5 (2017), Reef Doctors (2013), Hoges(2017) and Harrow (2018). Andrew is currently directing his first films,Safekeeping and Kingsland, and scriptwriting for his upcoming films,Black Flight, Night Starker and Protocol 5. Andrew has performed inGrease, The Wizard of Oz and The Golden Monkey. He is five-timesworld Martial Arts Champion and 10-times Australian champion. Hehas studied Hip Hop, Salsa, Bachata, Disco and Polynesian dancing.

ANCESTOR: Tamika StephanTamika Stephan was born in Melbourne where her primary school artteacher encouraged her love for art and theatre. Her family moved tosmall town Boonah at the age of ten where she continued herinterests in the arts and became involved in the Boonah artscommunity. A few years after graduating from high school she movedto the sunny Gold Coast and continued being involved with the arts.Last year, Tamika became involved with Gold Coast Little Theatrewhere she helped backstage for Run For Your Wife and performedon the GCLT stage as the Devil’s Personal Assistant Inferna inCinderella.

Ethan 'spaghetti' Speight has been acting for a few years now,starting with two drama festivals for Benowa State High School. Inone drama festival he played Rico in Blackrock (2019) for which hewon an outstanding actor award. Ethan played Coach Bolton inBSHS's High School Musical (2017) and he is attending MusicTheatre classes at Spotlight Theatre. At Spotlight Theatre he hasperformed in Legally Blonde Jr (2018), the pantomime Spark andCrystal Crusade (2019) and Javeenbah Theatre’s Blood Brothers(2019). He is very excited to be playing the role of the Conquistadorancestor in GCLT's The Addams Family (2019).

Lara has always enjoyed performing in musical theatre and is veryexcited to participate in this production of The Addams Family.Previously she has been in Back to the 80s (GCLT), Les Misérables(Spotlight), Brooke Wyndham in Legally Blonde Jnr (Spotlight),Lambchops in Fame (HOTA), Abuela in Strictly Ballroom (All SaintsAnglican School) and had lots of fun as the Cheshire Cat in the Alicein Wonderland pantomime (Spotlight). She is thrilled to be workingwith so many talented and wonderful cast and crew and hopes youlove the show!
