It’s time to Breeze through...

Breeze through... to your destination

It’s time to Breeze through...

Our strapline revolves around the simple and versatile statement “Breeze through...”

A variation of this strapline needs to be included on all mediums. The normal place for this will be in the footer block at the bottom of the page alongside the logo (see example). This ensures a consistent brand is achieved.

Our strapline can then be combined with wording to suit the need and situation.

The strapline must be created using two colours to separate the universal “Breeze through...” from the second more specifi c part of the strapline.

Breeze through... must be shown in italicsAny follow on words from Breeze through... must start in lower case.

The strapline must not appear as one colour. The two halves that make up the strapline should always differ in colour. The only exception to this is when mono printing is the only available option.

For colour examples see page 18.

Shopping in Ghent is a delightful experience. You can walk down the main Veldstraat parade, or seek out one of the many quirky and trendy family run stores in which to browse the wide array of varied souvenirs to take home. Alternatively, you can just wander down Patershol and take in the 15th century street patterns.

When it comes to accommodation you have a wide choice in Ghent. But if you want something a little more authentic and environmentally friendly, just check out any hotel that has a ’green key’ attached. These encourage local hoteliers to really pay attention to the needs of both their guests and their local city environment.

ONE OF EUROPE’S GREATEST DISCOVERIES Despite being relatively unknown, Flanders’ largest university city Ghent, has a vibrant nightlife and a great deal to do and see; an impressive Opera House, 18 museums, over 400 historical buildings, a magnificent cathedral and picturesque waterways down which to tour and enjoy.

Some of the most impressive parts of the city lie along the quaysides, where Renaissance houses line the streets and quaint bridges allow you to wave to the passers-by enjoying their boats along the water. Elsewhere, to the east of the city, you can discover 13th century gothic architecture, a 14th century belfry, the largest town hall in Europe and a cathedral that dates back to the Middle Ages.

Museums in Ghent are varied and have something to offer for everyone. The Museum of Contemporary Arts (S.M.A.K) is very original, but if you prefer more traditional art then head for the Museum of Fine Arts. Its collection includes works from some of the most famous Flemish artists, including Rubens and Bosch and tells the story of art from the 15th century until the 20th century.

It's hard to pass through any part of Ghent’s old quarter without being amazed by the buildings and architecture. However, if your tastes are more modern, check out Graffiti Street or the Millionaire’s Quarter.

The medieval district of Patershol lies in the shadow of the Castle of the Counts and is a delight for those who appreciate gourmet food.

It's hard to pass through any part of Ghent’s old quarter without being amazed by the buildings and architecture.

If you want to join the locals in eating one of their favourite dishes, then you should try out the Stoverij stew of which they are particularly partial. The combination of herbs and mustard, blended with liver and kidney is a gourmet delight. For something even more authentic, try out Kroakemandels. These are peas like you have never tried before. Coated in salt and served in a similar fashion to french fries, this is a local delicacy that you won’t forget in a hurry.

And let's not forget those with a sweet tooth! Mokken and

knopkes cookies are simply divine and cuberdon sweets, flavoured from raspberries, are not easily forgotten.

WHAT'S ON IN 2015?

The Light Festival 29th January – 1st February

Every three years the Light Festival lights up the city with works by international light artists. The city’s nights will become the backdrop for a surprising spectacle, ingenious installations, spectacular performances and beautiful events, all based on light. Get ready to discover Ghent’s historic sites and monuments from a different angle.

SPOTLIGHT ON GHENTAs we head into 2015 this edition takes a look at the beautiful, and largely undiscovered, Belgian city of Ghent. Once medieval Europe’s second largest city, this elegant and imposing destination is crammed full of listed buildings, museums, art and culture. And you won’t see too many tourists.

The War in Short Pants Exhibition 20th November 2015 – 1st April 2016

The War in Short Pants exhibition uses literature, comic books, magazines and toys to show how big an impact the great war had on the lives of children and their families, thereby indirectly demonstrating how the social status of the child in western society was changing.

Hello and welcome to 2015. I hope that you had a fantastic Christmas and New Year and that you haven’t indulged too much. Most of us did of course, and I know I’m aiming to look after myself a little more over the coming months.

We’ve all toyed with New Year resolutions, sometimes successfully and sometimes not, but what could we change in 2015 that would be easy to manage and have long-lasting effects? We’ve come up with five ideas that just might be worth a try…

I hope you have a good trip and that we’ll see you again soon.

SarahEditor.

Whipping winds, dry air, and chilly temperatures can really do damage to soft skin during the winter. Cold air outside and central heating indoors can strip moisture from pores, making skin itchy and dry. These great products will help you to combat these effects and keep your skin feeling fresh and vital.

1. Stand up and live longer. We’re hearing that, according to new research, sitting down at a desk all day may be incredibly bad for us. Work in a standing position at a standing desk can actually increase productivity and help you live longer. I’m writing this on a treadmill you know…

2. Take five minutes before posting on social media.Spend five minutes thinking about how you’ll frame your next Tweet or Facebook update and not just five seconds. Many people have plenty to write but nothing to say and once it’s out there, it’s tough to retract it. Ahh look it’s a kitten – like.

3. Read more and prosper.Did you know that reading each day can reduce stress, increase knowledge, expand your vocabulary, improve your memory, develop concentration, re-activate problem-solving skills and even help to prevent Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Time for a book…

4. Get more from travel. We travel because we need to, but it turns out that distance and difference are the secret tonic of creativity and open-mindedness. When we get home, home is still the same. But something in our mind has been changed, and that changes everything. Profound.

5. Be kind to yourself. The time to relax is when you don’t have time for it. Stress can be a positive force but often it wears us down and can have negative effects on other parts of our bodies and lives. So when you fancy a treat, have one and don’t feel guilty. You deserve it.

SPIRITS & WINES

CRYSTAL HEAD VODKA 0.7ltr, 40% ABV

Crystal Head Vodka is filtered seven times.

Smooth and light on the nose with hints of vanilla. A slight kick when it first hits the palate, but it mellows quickly into a smooth offering. A slight peppery kick at the end, but a long mouth-watering sensation dominates it.

HARDY'S VR RANGE Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Shiraz 6 x 75cl, 12.5 - 13.5% ABV

In 1850 Thomas Hardy sailed for Australia from England. Three years later he established his first vineyard on the banks of the River Torrens in Adelaide and laid the foundation for one of Australia's most famous wine dynasties, Hardy's. Over 160 years later, Fifth generation Hardy's Winemaker and ambassador, Bill Hardy, continues this history of passion for the creation of fine wines. In the last decade Hardy's wines have won more than 2800 awards.

JURA 16YR1ltr, 40% ABV

Nurtured for sixteen long years, this is the whisky of choice for the people of Jura. It’s a subtle malt – unassuming yet brimming with character, qualities often attributed to the Diurachs themselves. That’s probably why the islanders are drawn to it above all others. To honour this special relationship, the symbol of the Diurachs adorns each and every bottle.

JURA TURAS MARA1ltr, 42% ABV

Inspired by the many Diurachs who emigrated in search of far-off lands, Turas-Mara takes its name from the Gaelic for ‘Long Journey’. And the spirit of travel is at the heart of this expression, with barrels from America, Spain, France and Portugal each imbuing the malt with their unique and exotic flavours.
