Welcome kids to their group, review expectations, get to know kids, do an activity, and watch the first video.Today’s lesson is about how we follow an amazing God who wants to take us an adventure!

● Welcome kids into your room and connect with them while playing games! Here are some ground rules for how every Kids’ Club room should feel

○ Fun is a language kids always understand, so have fun with everything you do.○ Respect each other by treating others the way you want to be treated.○ Encourage kids to listen when your leader is speaking, and follow their directions.○ Everyone belongs here, so let’s include every person and show respect to each other.

● Split kids into small groups of 10 or less. Encourage kids to do all the lessons activities within their small groups.

SUPPLIES

As kids arrive, spend time getting to know them, then start the activity 10 minutes into the hour:

● Ask kids their name, and what the best or worst part of their week was.

Birdie on a perch: ● Have kids partner up: one partner will be the “birdie” and one will be the “perch”. ● All the “birdies” form a circle, while their partners, the “perches”, form another circle

AROUND them. While the inside circle walks clockwise, the outside circle walks in the opposite direction (counter-clockwise).

● The leader then stops the music and the "birdies" and "perches" need to find their corresponding partner as fast as possible. The "perch" should get down on one knee and the "birdie" should sit on the "perch's" raised knee.

● The last few pairs to find one another and assume the "birdie on a perch" position are eliminated from the game

○ if you have less than 20 kids, eliminate one pair at a time○ if you have more then 20 kids, eliminate the last 2-3 pairs for each round.

SUPPLIES

Start the 10-minute Countdown Timer on the youtube playlist.

SAY We’re all afraid of things sometimes, right? Well no matter how scary it seems, God is bigger than that fear, and HE can handle it! One thing some people might be scared of, is….sharks!

● Scatter paper plates across an open area on the floor (there should be one plate per kid). These paper plates are LAND, while the rest of the floor is the OCEAN.

● Turn on some music, and let kids walk (or even more fun, pretend to swim) around the floor without touching the plates.

● Whenever the leader pauses the music and shouts “SHARKS”, kids should find a paper plate to stand on to avoid getting eaten by the shark!

● If you want more a challenge as the game goes on, take away a few paper plates each time you turn the music back on, so that some kids will have to work together share a paper plate when trying to escape the shark.

● Debrief the Game:

○ In that game, sharks were the things we’re afraid of. What other things are you scared of? (Let kids respond)

○ God is like those paper plates. When we’re scared, we can go to him and let him handle our fears!

● Say: We heard a lot of different stories in the video today about how following God can sometimes be scary, and we have to be brave! In the story about Peter, he had to be pretty brave too, but Jesus was there to help him. Let’s play a board game that helps us remember this!

● Split your group into teams of no more than 6 kids. Give each team a game board, a die, a set of game cards and a game piece for each kid. Here are the rules to play the game:

● On your turn, roll the die and move that number of spaces along the game board path. ● When you land on a colored space, hand the die to the next person and let them go. When you

land on a space with a star, pick up a card. ● Each card has an action you have to do, or a question to answer (younger kids will need help

reading their card!)● Everyone gets to finish the WHOLE game and get your game piece to the end.
