DepartmentalRegistration
All studentsmust registerwith the department for practical classes and tutorial classes. Studentswill beinformedofrelevantregistrationdates,costsetc.andgivenanynecessaryforms,inlectures.Theonusisonthe student to ensure that they register for these compulsory course components. Students should
carefully note the times of any practicals they have registered for in order to prevent clashes betweensubjects.
StudentAttendanceWith reference to the University regulations regarding attendance, quoting directly from the UniversityStudentHandbook,:“Astudententeredforacourseorcourses isexpected toattendall lectures,tutorials,laboratoryclassesandallotherrequirementsgivenineachcourseforwhichhe/sheisregistered.”In relation to practical and tutorial sessions, poor attendance alone can result in module failure andpotentiallytotalfailureofanacademicyear, aspreviouslydetailedinthesectiononcontinuousassessment. It isnomoreobviousthanheretheimportanceofattendingandcompletingallnecessarycourseworkandtheveryseriousimpactlackofattendancecanhaveonastudent’sdegree.Assuch,thedepartmentnaturallytakesastrongviewonattendance.Webelievethatthebenefitsofgoodattendanceisnotaloneevidencedinbettermodulemarksattheendofsemesterexaminations,butitalsoincreases a student’s potential for academic success during their progression through their degree andbeyond.

DefinitionofPlagiarism
Plagiarism is the passing off of another person’s work as your own.
