The Norwood Library of Cincinnati, Ohio was the point of focus for a forms and functions basic study of a Carnegie Library. The exterior of the façade was dissected and displayed in the form of an exploded axonometric. The functions of the building were then developed into numer-ous diagrams establishing groundwork for the following literary center.

Through countless iterations, representa-tions, and reconfigurations, our combined studio design started with a three cornered wooden model and ended with a single, 30 degree, angled aluminum strip. The connection went from inherent to obvious. This sleek and clean design resulted in a final product with the ability to form virtually any shape in any space.

Exploring line, plane, and volume brought forth the idea of movement-through-a-space — coming to life within a wooden box structure. Contrasting wood types and an axonometric prototype show how movement is most successful when contrasting dark and light in combination with intersecting lines.

The Patricia Corbett Theater staircase was documented, diagrammed, and drafted many times over the course of the quarter. The goal was to capture the essence of the space through multiple iterations to prepare for the 3-D projects to come.

The essence of the Patricia Corbett Theater was developed into a museum board and plaster model. From there, it was iterated until an eight-piece block was created. This puzzle-like cube can be manipu-lated in many ways, making it a versitile study of form and space.

A spatial structure was constructed using over 100 of the exact same item, Band-Aids in this case. The piece flowed and wrapped around its base, as if it were a growth on the wall it protruded from. Concepts from an 8-piece cube that fit together like a puzzle were blended with the Band-Aid project to create a compilation of 25 different drawings, all transforming and morphing from one square to the next.
