LIGHTING GOALS
Spatial
In order to create spatial definition, order and proper circulation within the workspace environment, we will need to incorporate architectural lighting and cove lighting to break up the spaces within the workplace and highlight the routes to be traveled. There is a column system through the middle pf the space, so instead of trying to hide the columns, we will accent them with illuminated sconces that help to add another layer of design element to the space. It is important that adequate lighting for workstations are provided. In keeping with the resi-mercial feel, decorative lighting will also be added to provide a warm atmosphere. To accomplish this balance, task lighting can be used to focus at workstation desks, and ambient lighting mixed with architectural lighting will be dispersed throughout the workspace entirely. Psychological & Physiological To create a proper environment for employees, we will incorporate architectural, task and ambient lighting that will be set to a lighting system so the intensity of the lighting can be adjusted throughout the day according to the amount of sunlight coming through the windows. This will create a balance and pleasantness within the workplace from day to evening. The general color tone and materials are warm and vibrant so the light temperature and light sources chosen will have to compliment the color scheme; so the environment does not feel to saturated overall.
Task FactorsAdequate ambient lighting will be used for working and collaborative areas. Luminance is especially important within offices and workstations. Along with ambient lighting, task lighting will be implemented in assisting with these working areas at workstations, focus rooms, and collaborative areas. Cove lighting will guide employees and guests for way-finding tubular chandeliers will also support ambient features while being decorative.
