28th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year A)— 11th October 2020

“ Tell those who have been invited that I have my banquet all prepared…come to the wedding.”

All our readings today, including our psalm, use the powerful image of a lavish banquet in describing the blessings and graces, God wishes to bestow on his people. Blessings that are now offered to us in this the House of God, where we are nourished by Jesus’ Body and Blood. This weekend: Andy, Nikki, John, Caroline, Heather and Mark will be baptised/initiated during our Sunday Mass. They will be the newest members of our parish communities and for the first time will come to the altar of the Lord and receive Jesus in the Eucharist. Yesterday, our First Holy Communion chil-dren also received Jesus for the first time. We, as the parish communities of Sacred Heart and Corpus Christi have, at this time, cause for great celebration! Let us keep the newly initiated, young and not so young, in our prayers. Fr David.

We will continue to have three levels of participation at Sacred Heart: those seated inside the Church, those participating outside of the Church and also via our livestream. To accommodate the change in season, we have in-creased the number of places available inside at Sacred Heart by moving to the 1m+ social distance rule and when demand requires, we are now able to accommodate limited numbers in our parish hall. I continue to ask you to book your place by calling Nicole tomorrow (Monday) between 11-12pm for Masses this week.

At Corpus Christi, due to social distancing guidelines, we can accommodate 26 places at a ‘1 metre +’ distance. To book your place, please contact Nicole as above. Please note that neither livestreaming nor outside broadcasting will be available for this Mass.

Mass will continue to be livestreamed each day (except Wed) at Sacred Heart.

Terri Moran RIP—Terri’s funeral will take place on Monday 19th October at Mid-day and will be subject to current COVID regulations. Please do keep in your pray-ers Terri who died peacefully. May she rest in peace.

October the month of Our Lady—As we begin the month of October, known as the Month of the Holy Rosary, I would like to encourage you to say the rosary eve-

ry day through this month, on your own or as a family. One such way is to join the Rosary Whirlwind Mission and pray the rosary each day at 8pm for the spiritu-al well-being of the British Isles. For more information please visit: www.rosaryonthecoast.co.uk.

November Dead List—November is the month when we pray for the Holy Souls and in particular for family and friends who have gone before us. As is our tradi-tion, there will be a book of remembrance at each Church. If you would like your loved ones to be included in either book, please send your intentions and offering either to the Presbytery at Sacred Heart/ Church at Corpus Christi or by email and bank transfer.

NHS Track & Trace—If you own a smart phone we ask that you ‘check-in’ to our churches in order to comply with the current ‘Track and Trace’ guidelines. There are posters with QR codes at the back of each church. Please firstly download the NHS Covid-19 app and use to scan the QR code. Don’t worry, if you do not have a smart phone we will continue to use our paper based system.

Prayer of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in this Holy Sacrament of the altar.

I love you above all things and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul.

Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul

so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever. We make this prayer through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
