Chaplain’s Prayer for the week
Heavenly Father we give thanks for the recognition that farmers deserve
for better animal welfare by the introduction of Animal health and
Welfare Pathway. We pray that this will give encouragement to our
farmers for the excellent work they are doing in this area. We pray for
new opportunities for young farmers. May they be encouraged by offers
of tenancies offered by a large landowner called Washburn Valley in
Yorkshire. We ask that you be with those farming families during this
traditional holiday month of August, help us to remember not just those
on holiday, but also those who have no chance of a break because
their work must continue - and especially those in the farming community
who are feeling exhausted.
Thinking of a Friend who needs help.
Please keep mindful of caring and looking out for friends. This little
gem video of 45 secs from FCN offers a reminder that help is out
there on the end of a phone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9sKNmv9Nr0

DAIRY RESPONSE FUND EXTENSION
In May DEFRA announced funding to support dairy farmers in
England affected by the disruption caused by Covid-19. The
Dairy Response Fund has been open for applications since 18
June. This fund, which began making payments from 6 July, is
designed to help dairy farmers maintain production capacity
without impacting on the welfare of their animals, following
reduced demand for milk products while restaurants, bars
and cafes were closed.
DEFRA has now issued an update that the deadline for
applications has been extended from 14 August 2020 to 11
September 2020 to provide farmers more time to apply.
Further details of the application process and updated
guidance are available on the Government website.
