Marriages

If you are engaged, congratulations! A date must be selected with the consent of the pastor or deacon. We begin the marriage preparation eight months prior to the prearranged wedding date. Call the Parish

Office Center at 922-0715 to make an appointment to speak with the pastor. There are no weddings performed during Lent.

Baptisms Are celebrated on the first and third Sunday of the month except during Lent. Call the Parish Office Center to schedule a baptism. First time parents are required to take the baptismal prep class which meets the second Tuesday of every other month: February, April, June, August, October and December. Call the Parish Office Center to register for the class.

Hospital/Nursing Home Notification

If you are going to the hospital or nursing home and would like a member of the pastoral staff to visit, please notify the office

at 922-0715. Hospitals are no longer allowed to notify us due to the privacy laws.

Our Lady of Lourdes has a prayer chain. If you wish to place yourself or someone else on it, please call the parish office center.

JANUARY 1, 2017

“Here I am, the handmaid of the

Lord.” Today, we celebrate the So-

lemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary,

Mother of God. It is also common to pray for

peace.

The Lord bless and keep you!

The Lord let his face shine upon you, and be gra-

cious to you!

The Lord look upon you kindly and give you

peace!

There is likely no better way to begin the new

year than with this blessing. The Blessed Moth-

er likely heard this blessing pronounced over her

and her people.

The primary phrase of the blessing is “The Lord

give you peace.” Mary would have heard the

word “shalom” for peace. “Shalom” expresses

the depth of the concept of peace. This Hebrew

word means more than peace: it means peace,

justice, and integrity in relationships. It implies

safety and growth in wholeness as if the entire

universe was woven together and functioning as

God intended. The blessing of shalom prays that

humanity and the entire universe may live the

communion God created us to enjoy.

I join the parish staff in wishing each of you a

peace filled New Year!

Our annual Married Couples Dinner hosted

by Fr. Len will be held at The Farm, on Satur-

day January 21 beginning at 5:30 p.m. We

had such a great time in our own private

room and enjoyed the buffet last year so we

are headed back! All married couples are in-

vited to join this fun evening held to honor

your commitment and love for one another.

Cost will be $30 a couple and will include

their extensive buffet, drinks, and dessert.

Our parish will provide one alcoholic bever-

age a person! Cash bar available.

Can you help us?

We're collecting crazy socks in memory of Anna Kroger,

who passed away in May, towards the end of her fresh-

man year at Mercy High school. We're donating these

fun socks to Cincinnati Children's Hospital to honor

Anna's sunny personality and her love for crazy socks.

The socks must have tags attached but the “crazy” de-

signs are optional. The collection will be on the week-

end of January 7 and 8 at all Masses. Thanks for help-

ing us making someone's day a little brighter! Please

ble donations on your 2016 in-

come tax return.

Stocks, bonds, and mutual funds make great gifts to

enable you tax savings and help OLL at the same time.

Talk to your broker. Avoid the rush of last minute

paperwork to reap immediate tax benefits.

We send out statements for tax purposes to ALL

registered parishioners, regardless of amount donat-

ed. Statements will cover all giving including weekly

offerings, tuition aid, cash reserves, and special or

private donations. You should receive your statement

by January 31, 2017. There is no need to call the

POC and request a statement. This will be done au-

tomatically.
