What you can expect

Users meetmanufacturersOver three days, national and international exhibitors will present their latest products and developments in the fi eld of Professional Mobile Radio in hall 10.2 of the Cologne Exhibi-tion Centre. Now in its 17th year, the PMRExpo continues to provide an ideal setting for identifying new trends, discovering the latest innovations and establishing high-level contacts. The varied programme of talks in diverse formats offers highly relevant information and valuable insights.

CONFERENCE LEVEL

Specialist Conference for the Energy IndustryFor energy sector companies, secure, reliable voice commu-nication and data transmission is an indispensable require-ment for grid operation. As part of the critical infrastructure, energy suppliers must ensure reliable systematic and crisis communication. The specialist conference addresses the key topics that are crucial to professional mobile radio commu-nication within the companies of this sector.

OFFENBACHSAAL

PMR Conference Professional mobile radio applications are subject to continuous change. The PMR Conference offers manu-facturers and users a shared platform for exchanges on technology and experiences. In the course of the two-day event, participants will gain an overview of the latest state of the art technology and will receive information on forward-thinking trends.

OFFENBACHSAAL

Congress on Control CentresThe development of the German digital radio network for security organisations (BOS) has steadily progressed over the past few years. Naturally, the use of this advanced radio technology also impacts on the security organi-sations’ control rooms, which have to be modernised or reconfi gured. The Congress on Control Centres address-es all the signifi cant issues that operators of emergency service control rooms and professional mobile radio applications have to contend with.

This year we have the pleasure of welcoming Herbert Reul, Interior Minister for North Rhine-Westphalia, as the patron of the PMRExpo 2017.

“For Hytera Mobilfunk the PMRExpo is becoming the most important industry trade fair in Europe.”

Markus Oltmanns, Hytera Mobilfunk GmbH

“Participating at the event gave us the opportunity to demonstrate the advanced development of mission critical communication towards hybrid networks.”

Kirstin Bircks, Airbus Secure Land Communications GmbH

Trade fair

Around 200 exhibitors from the sec-tors for Professional Mobile Radio, control rooms, secure communication solutions and security will be show-casing their products and services at the PMRExpo 2017. Our international trade fair with integral vehicle exhibition again expects to be wel-coming over 4,000 trade visitors from more than 50 countries.

Boulevard / Connecting Area

This year, the PMRExpo has two separate lounge areas on offer: The Boulevard, which is situated centrally within the exhibition, as well as the new Connecting Area directly next to our PMRExpo Career stand and the Specialist Forum. The open and modern lounge spaces at the centre of the exhibition provide an exten-sive selection of trade media, while snacks and speciality coffees are also available here. Delegates are invited to linger in the lounges, which provide an ideal space in which to continue professional discussions.

Forums / Workshops

The Specialist Forums provide par-ticipants with up-to-date information in a condensed and targeted format – without additional costs and regis-tration procedures. Regardless of whether indoor coverage or specialist trade is the main area of interest: Experts of the relevant sector will be on hand to provide a compact update on what’s new and worth knowing.

For Christina Sternitzke, Managing Director of event organiser EW Medien und Kongresse GmbH, there are clear reasons for PMRExpo’s growth: “Last year, we attracted around 4,000 trade visitors from 58 countries, which shows how well-established this trade fair has become at an international level too. What delights me the most is the exceptional quality of the organised talks and the high professional calibre of the visitors.”As further indicators of the PMRExpo’s signifi cance in professional circles, Christina Sternitzke cites the loyalty of the exhibitors, the steady growth with new customers and the high concentration of participating market leaders. Exhibitors and delegates from related sectors such as the energy industry are also increasingly drawn to the PMRExpo.

„PMRExpo is an important industry event for Motorola Solutions, we develop relationships with existing customers as well as generating new business.“

Amanda Clifford, Motorola Solutions UK Ltd.

“We have used the PMRExpo as a networking platform for many years. This year, we once again look forward to interesting conversations with our trade partners.”

15:00 to 17:00Workshop: Linking narrowband (TETRA) networks to broadband networks (Mission Critical LTE)This forum is held in German.

In this workshop, multiple options for linking narrowband TETRA networks to broadband mission-critical LTE networks are presented and discussed. The increased deployment of mission-critical LTE networks over the coming years will result in a migration phase in which TETRA and MC LTE networks are used in parallel. This requires that the systems are interlinked, i.e. that TETRA users and MC LTE users can communicate with each other. The workshop participants will consider and discuss possible linking scenarios with regard to the user’s view-point, as well as the technical and opera-tional aspects. The audience is invited to participate in the discussion.

Topics relating to the theme “Digitalisation of the energy grids – challenges regarding internal and safety-critical communication” will be at the core of this year’s Energy In-dustry Forum. The aim is to raise important questions and to discuss these with both user and industry representatives. Ques-tions will include: What are the framework conditions for the digitalisation of the energy transition? Which requirements regarding emergency communication are essential? What communication platforms and services are available today? Which requirements are not being met by currently available solu-tions and what shape might future solutions take? What is the comparative assessment of own communication system versus ser-vices platform or a combination of the two?

BDBOS (Federal Agency for Public Safety Digital Radio) workshop for planners and implementers of indoor coverage systems28 November 2017 | 14:00 to 16:30Conference level

When planning and implementing indoor coverage systems, a notifi cation procedure is required in order to link the indoor mobile radio system to the public safety (BOS) digital radio network. As part of this procedure, the planners and implementers must provide test measurements which serve as evidence of the parameters to be set. The BDBOS also uses the results to decide on a successful commissioning for linking into the network. As in previous years, the BDBOS aims to provide planers and implementers of indoor mobile radio systems with an understanding of the test measure-ments required for the notifi cation procedure. This will take the form of a tried and tested two-hour workshop.

In agreement with the PMeV and the BODeV, participation in the workshop is one of the prerequisites for being granted the quality mark awarded by the two organisations. A certifi cate of attendance is sent out following the workshop.

Participation in the workshop is free of charge. Participants must register at www.pmrexpo.de/bdbos-workshop before attending the workshop.
