A Reading from the Book of Genesis

Yahweh God said:

It is not good for man to be alone.

I will make for him a suitable

helper.

Then Yahweh God formed from the earth all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the

air,

and He brought them to Man to see what he would call them and whatever

Man called every living creature,

that was its name.

So Man gave names to all the cattle, the birds of

the air and to every beast ofthe field but there was

not a helper suitable for Man and like

him among them.

Then Yahweh God caused a deep sleep to

come over Man and

he fell asleep.And while he slept, God took one of his ribs

and filled its place with flesh.

And Yahweh God formed from the rib which He had

taken from Man, a woman

and He brought her to the man.

Then Man said: “Now, this is bone of my bones

and flesh of my flesh.She shall be called

woman for she was taken out of man.”

That is whyman leaveshis father

and mother and is attached to his wife and they become

one body.

Blessed is each

one who fears

the Lord and

walksin His ways!

From the labour of your hands you shall eat,

blessed and favoured are you!

Your wife shall be as a fruitful

vine, bearing

fruit within the

corners of your

home;

your children as olive shoots around your

table.

Behold, such are the blessings bestowed on the man who fears the

Lord!

The Lord bless you from Zion!

Jerusalem all the days of your life!

A Reading from the Letter to the Jews.

Brothers and sisters, He who for a little while was placed lower than

the angels,

Jesus, Who we now see crowned in Glory

and Honour,

because of the death He suffered,

experienced death on behalf of

everyone, for the good of all and this through the

Grace of God.

For it was fitting that He, from Whom all things come and

through Whom all things exist,

desired that in bringing many children to glory,

should make the

Author of their Salvation

perfect through

suffering.

For the One Who Sanctifies and the

sanctified all have the same One Origin.

This is why He is not ashamed to call them His brothers and sisters.

No one has seen God but if we loveone another God shall live in us and His love shall find Its full expression in us!

1 John 4:12

A Reading from the Gospel of St.Mark

Then some Pharasees approached Jesus and to test Him they asked:“Is it lawful

for a husband to divorce his wife?”

Jesus answered them saying:

“What command did Moses give

you?”They replied:

“Moses allowed a husband to write a bill of divorce and dismiss his wife.”

Then Jesus answered:

“It was because of your hardness of

heart and stubbornness that

Moses wrote you this command!

But“from the beginning of creation God made them male

and female.

And it is for this reason that a man leaves his father and

mother and is joined

to his wife

and the two become one body.”

So they are no longer two but one

body.

Therefore, what God has put together, let no man bring

apart.”

When they were

indoors, the disciples

again questioned Jesus about

this and Jesus said:

“Whoever leaves his wife and marries another is guilty of adultery against his

wife

and if a woman leaves her husband

and marries another, she

too is guilty of adultery.”

Then the people brought to Him children that Hemay touch and

bless them, but the disciples

rebuked them and sent

them away.

“Let the little

children come to Me and do not stop them

Jesus, upon seeing this, became very angry and

said:

for the kingdomof God belongs

to such as these!

Truly I tell you, whoever does not

receive the Kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it!”

Then he took the children in His arms,

embraced them and laying His Hands on them He blessed them.

The Word of God!

“Let the little children come to Me and do not stop them

for the Kingdom of God belongs

to them!”
