The Classic is the biggest ride in MinnesotaThe Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota invites you to be part of the state’s biggest bike tour. Nearly 6,000 bicyclists and volunteers enjoy this community-based festival on wheels that features Saint Paul’s best bike routes, delicious refreshments, and live music by great bands like the Roe Family Singers, The Brass Messengers, and The Eddies.

Minnesota is the #2 State for BicyclingMore than half of Minnesotans choose to get on a bike each year for vacations, recreation, commuting, fitness, and fun. Bicycling generates more than 5,500 jobs and nearly $800 million to our state’s economy. More than 2.1 million Minnesotans live in a Bicycle Friendly Community and more than 61,000 Minnesotans work for a Bike Friendly Business—it’s no wonder we’re one of the most bike friendly states in the nation!

A Snapshot of Our RidersWe’re proud because, unlike many sporting events, nearly half of our participants are female. All our riders appreciate the safe routes, scenic parkways and quality ride support. The Classic welcomes riders from eight months to 80 years of age. Twenty percent of our riders are from the metro suburbs and nearly 70 percent from Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Remaining riders come from Greater Minnesota, other states, and even other countries!

Sponsors Get ResultsWe work hard to establish a personal relationship with sponsoring organizations and make sure they have all the information they need to make the most of their sponsorship of the Classic. Many sponsors return year after year and love the block party atmosphere of the Rest Stops and the St. Thomas staging area. It’s not unusual for riders to come up to sponsors and give them a high-five for supporting this annual ride.

Waste Free is the Way to Be!Last year, with the help of Eureka! Recycling and our riders, we were able to compost and recycle almost all waste generated at the event and ended the day with only 74 pounds of trash. This is virtually unheard of for an event the size of the Classic.

Your Sponsorship Gives BackThe Saint Paul Classic Supports BikeMNDid you know that this is a fundraiser ride for the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota? BikeMN is the state’s largest nonprofit bicycle advocacy and education organization. They provide leadership and a unified voice for bicycle education, advocacy and efforts to make Minnesota more bicycle friendly so that bicycling is easy, safe, and fun for everyone.

One of the ways BikeMN accomplishes this is by training educators—more than 600 to date—to teach safe walking and bicycling skills in Minnesota’sschools. These instructors teach more than 50,000 children per year these crucial lessons in safe bicycling and walking. BikeMN has also created adult bicycle education programming and materials that are available to certified cycling instructors BikeMN trains across the state. BikeMN also plays an active role in growing the quantity and quality of Minnesota’s Bicycle Friendly Communities, Universities, and Businesses including hosting community rideslike the Classic around the state. Advocating at the State Capitol for laws and funding to make bicycling even safer in Minnesota is also a high priority.
