Description: The K-12 classroom has changed since the days of

chalkboards and overhead projectors. Today’s students regularly use

technology like laptops, mp3 players, smart phones and tablets. In order to

engage the 21st century learner, teachers need to weave technology into the

classroom seamlessly. Learn how to create such a classroom.

21st Century Classroom

Description: This session is designed for teachers who feel very comfortable using

the SMART Board and Notebook 11 software. You will learn advanced features of SMART

Notebook 11 software such as animation, screen capture tool, adding sound, inserting videos,

using the attachment feature, locating additional free software that will enhance the use of

the SMART Board, and much more. Bring your school laptop with SMART Notebook 11 soft-

ware loaded.

Description: This session is designed for teachers who have little or no experience

with SMART Board. Learn SMART Board software basics to integrate and enhance

classroom curriculum. Participants will learn how to set up a SMART Board, find lessons

and resources on the internet, and use the basic features of Notebook 11 to begin cre-

ating SMART Board lessons. Participants will be given time to create their own lesson

or activity with support available. Bring your school laptop with Notebook 11 loaded.

Description: The purpose of this training is to learn about the different

report types in Synergy and to become more familiar with the report

interface. We are also going to include some tips on how to work with reports

when you export them into Microsoft Excel.

writing and speaking! Come learn how to use a variety of digital media utilizing

Web 2.0 tools to harness the power of digital storytelling in your classroom.

Description: This course is designed to provide requisite knowledge and

skills necessary to perform the task of taking Daily Attendance Maintenance

and entering Discipline Incidents for students in the Synergy Student Infor-

mation System.

to enhance understanding in all content areas for their students. Not only

that, it provides many others multimedia resources that may be used by

teachers or students for multimedia projects.

how to enter discipline incidents for students in the Synergy Student

Information System.

Description: Regardless of what you teach a document camera is a simple way to

increase the engagement of your students. This session is designed to help you review

basic skills then learn new possibilities of the document camera. Particular focus will

center on how to make Paper Slide Videos with the document camera. Walk away with

tons of integration ideas to use in your classroom.

Description: In this session we will review aspects of the enrollment

process and discuss the process for verifying that student data is

correct in Synergy.

Description: This intermediate level is intended to help everyday users of

Excel become more proficient by expanding their knowledge of functions, for-

mulas, and new Excel features. Participants who attend this class will learn

how to use multiple worksheets and workbooks efficiently, and start working

with more advanced formatting options.

become more proficient by expanding their knowledge of functions, formulas, and new

Excel features. Participants who attend this class will learn how to create outlines and

subtotals, how to create and apply cell names, and how to work with tables.

Description: Do you want to lean to flip your classroom or just learn some quick

video tricks? This session will look at what a flipped classroom is, how it works and

what resources are needed. We will look at resources like Khan Academy and Teacher

Tube and how to use these in your classroom. In addition, we will explore creating our

own short instructional videos to use with students.

Description: There’s a class for that! The iPad can be a very useful tool to

help you work smarter, not harder. Topics include how to increase your

productivity, proper care of the device, and district expectations for respon-

sible use. (If you have recently received a district purchased iPad, you must

attend training. This class meets this requirement.)

iPads for Educators

Description: This session is designed for teachers who feel fairly comfortable with

the basics of using a SMART Board and Notebook 11 software and are ready to learn

create their own lessons. You will learn some of the new features available in SMART

Notebook 11 software such as the activity builder, magic pen, layering and grouping,

graphics, ink aware, and much more. Bring your school laptop with SMART Notebook 11

software loaded.

Description: In our line of work we are constantly presenting, so why not learn

how to make your presentations stand out. This session will cover some do’s and don’ts

of presenting. tips and tricks of PowerPoint and Prezi, as well as, some simple online

presentation tools for you to use in your classroom. Be sure to bring some lesson

materials to create a finished product!

Description: This session is designed for anyone who will assist with the

enrollment process. Come and learn about the ParentVue portal and how to

help parents create usernames and passwords.

Description: These courses are restricted to those people who are train-

ing building staff on synergy. The session will review the basics of synergy,

taking attendance, and report cards. Grade book and assignments will also be

covered for secondary staff.

Description: This session is designed for teachers who are comfortable navigating

SMART Board Notebook 11 Software. Participants will have a working knowledge and

understand how to navigate the different SMART Board resources there are. Another

component of the class will be how to use SMART Board not with curriculum but to

help with classroom management and organization.

rate and create! Come learn about some cool tools to use to engage your stu-

dents. In addition, we will explore digital learning communities for teachers.

this session you will learn about a variety of these tools and how to go about

Course Objectives:

Participants will utilize interactive technologies to maximize student engagement, student participation, and student learning.

Participants will develop technology-rich interactive classroom lessons and activities.

Participants will develop and gain an understanding of 21st century skills.

At the end of the course, students will be able to

Create interactive, engaging lessons using a variety of technologies

Model effective uses of technologies

Course Requirements per credit hour

Price: $65.00 Per Credit Hour

1 Credit Hour (2 Sessions worth Total Points=200)

Attend and Participate in 2 Sessions 50 each = 100 points

Completion of 2 Session Reflection 25 each = 50 points

Submission of All Assignment/Projects 25 each = 50 points

2 Credit Hours (4 Sessions worth Total Points= 400)

Attend and Participate in 4 Sessions 50 each = 200 points

Completion of 4 Session Reflections 25 each = 100 points

Submission of All Assignment/Projects 25 each = 100 points

3 Credit Hours (6 sessions worth Total Points= 800)
