PREVENTION In2014,beyondblue,inpartnershipwithMedicareLocalsandTheMovemberFoundation,launchedademonstrationprogramcalledNewAccessinACT,NorthCoastNSWandCentralAdelaide.

Thisearlyinterventionprogramisdesignedtoassistpeoplewhoarenotcurrentlyaccessingmentalhealthservicesandencouragesthemtotakethefirststepinseekingtreatmentformildtomoderatedepressionoranxiety.AsatSeptember2014,morethan1000peoplehaveaccessedtheprogram,witharecoveryrateaverageofmorethan58percent.

SUPPORTbeyondblueoffersaphone,webchatandemailsupportservice,staffedbytrainedmentalhealthprofessionals,tohelppeopleinAustralia,ortheirfriendsandfamily,whomaybeexperiencingdepressionandanxiety.Lastyearmorethan110,000Australianstalkedthroughtheirconcernswithusandwehelpedpointthemintherightdirectionforfurthersupport.

HelpstofundbeyondblueandtheMentalHealthCouncilofAustralialobbyingtoimproveaccesstoinsurance,influencetheinsuranceindustrytomakechangestotheirpoliciesandpracticesandbringgreaterfairnesstotheinsurancemarket.Researchinthisspacehasrevealedthatpeoplewhohavementalhealthconditionsexperiencesignificantdifficultyanddiscriminationwhenapplyingforinsuranceproductsandmakingclaimsagainsttheirpolicies.Theaimofthisworkistoimproveaccessforpeoplecurrentlylivingwithamentalhealthconditionorthosewithalivedexperience.

Basic obligations

Yourbasicobligationsaretoensurethat:
