This appeared in the London Free Press on the 29 Aug 2009.There's an obit for Ruth (Neathway) Whitlock. She was married to Bruce Whitlock who died in 1988.

The only candidate by that name in the W28 database was born in 1924, the son of Benjamin &Minnie (Quackenbush) Whitlock. Probably best to get some additional confirmation. Maybe if youcontact the Lambton County branch of the OGS, they can find an obit.

I've been researching some W01lines in Ohio & Michigan. I found some additional data for theJoseph Pugsley - Mary Whitlock line on a Rootsweb World Connect site. I downloaded a registry &GEDCOM of the relevant data in case you want to merge it into your database. I downloaded someOhio death registrations from the LDS Records site that supports (or confounds) the data in theregistry. As well, I went to the USGenweb site for Ohio & scrounged up some additional items of ageneral nature. laid the same~for-Micliigan,'includillg soine-Michigan-tomDstone'snapshots. -

Another Ohio line that caught my eye was the one for Hamlet Hawthorne - Rebecca Whitlock.According to the database, the husband died in 1860, yet all three of his kids were born after hispurported death. Neat trick, but I had my doubts. I decided to look into it a bit more. I checked the1870 US census on the LDS Records site, and found an entry for "Harry" Hawthorn & family inKansas City, Missouri. Each kid was born in a different state which suggests that they travelled quite abit. "Harry" was a detective, according to the census. I downloaded an image of the 1870 census. Icouldn't find anything more about the family in the 1880 census, though an entry matching one of thechildren, Harriet "Hattie" Hawthorne, shows up in Memphis, Tennessee.

I looked at another Pugsley line in Michigan after I found some data on them at the RootswebWorldConnect site. William Pugsley was married to Sarah Ayre, a daughter of William Ayre & AnnWhitlock, and a sister of Caleb Ayre, who we've discussed earlier this year. I downloaded a registry &GEDCOM for this line, too. I expanded the data with some Michigan BMD registrations from the LDSRecords site, & the "Seeking Michigan" site. One of their children was Elena Pugsley who marriedJohn Hicks in 1871. She died about 1880. I included an 1880 census extract (St. Louis, GratiotCounty, MI) for the Hicks family. Apparently Elena Hicks was dead by then, but a Sarah Prysley isrecorded. This would be Sarah (Ayre) Pugsley, probably there to help look after her grandchildren. She also shows up with her own family, and name spelled correctly.I sent a number of Michigan registrations for the Hollway family (Jonas Smale-Sally Whitlock line)

on my last disk. I found another marriage (Marion Hollway) for that line. There's a few small collections of items: birth registrations from Delaware, veteran's burial

registrations from Utah, Freedman bank records (1865-1874), and various things that defy category. There's something approaching 400 death registations for the Carolinas. I think some 1900 censusextracts got mixed in the South Carolina folder. There's a few items from Cheshire, England, &Australia, and a couple of birth registrations from BC, Canada.

The LDS records site has uploaded virtual images of the US 1920 census (about 43% complete at

this point). I've included some extracts for the Pugsley family.
