When we are filled with God's love, it propels us with the will to serve others. God's

Love in us has the power to remove obstacles and melt frustrations. It inspires us

to make that move to solve problems, meet a need or lift a burden, for the power of God is also available to do

2 Corinthians 4: 1-18 Love Solves Problems Luke 10: 25-37

Genuine love takes action for the good of others. Jesus showed us a typical example in Matthew 14:13-20. He

challenged his disciples to take responsibility to feed the people even when it appeared they did not have

enough resources to take on such responsibility.

Today, we are also faced with so many problems in which we are constrained by time, money, influence, and

authority required to take up the challenge or initiative to help others. Love compels us to speak up, give up and

at times lay down (sacrifice) for the good of our neighbours even when we have nothing to gain. As believers, the

love of God gives us capacity to be like little saviours in our families, organization, communities or wherever we

find ourselves. Today's outline focuses on how we can express true love by taking

INTRODUCTION: Hello Children, last week we learnt about forgiveness from Zara. Today, Ini-Obong has

something to teach us also about loving people.

My name is Ini-obong and I want to tell you about the people in my class.

Aminat is from Bauchi state, she is always very gentle and listens to me when I talk to her. She always tells her

friends not to quarrel.

Adewale is from Ekiti state, he is funny and always makes everyone in the class laugh.

Udoka is from Enugu State, is our class president and because of him, we get to do our class work on time

because he is always checking on everyone.

Tamuno is from Bayelsa state, her best food is Banga soup and starch (Hahaha). Tamuno is the hygiene

prefect of the whole school. She loves keeping everywhere clean by ensuring no one litters the school.

Idibia Is from Benue state and he loves to draw and paint. Recently, he won the school an award for one of his

We do not all look alike, speak or act alike but everyone is unique and that is what makes my class fun. I just love

it.

Therefore, children as you can see from Ini-obong's class God created all of us differently, yet he loves us

equally and so should we.

NOTE - Children in the cell can introduce themselves by state of Origin and share other things about

themselves.

Memory Verse: 1 John 4:12

“No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in

Love covers one another Luke10:30-37 (NIV)

Imagine that you have pains in your left hand and you need to go out, you're not going to detach that hurting

hand from the rest of your body and step out! Likewise walking in God's kind of love means focusing on others

that are part of the same body of Christ, by caring and taking responsibility for them while going through a

tough situation. Since proof of love is in giving we, therefore, need to be sensitive to the needs of others and

respond accurately. This week our focus is taking responsibility in helping others around us as they go through

challenging times.

1. Exams are closing in and you have noticed a classmate of yours struggling with a subject repeatedly. This is a

subject you excel in, but you need more time preparing for the exams and helping will eat into your study time.

What do you do? Discuss

2. God's kind of love demands that you focus on others more than yourself which ultimately means demonstrating a

love that is generally not understood and even mocked but for you being a child of God, it's your nature. Here are

a few points that will help you understand;

Ÿ God's kind of love moves you to help others because every human being is an expression of God Himself. In

stretching your hand towards them, you are stretching your hand towards God. (Matthew 25:33-46)

Ÿ God's kind of love compels you to do something for another person that is in need because he/she is a part of

the body of Christ.

Ÿ In helping someone, don't focus on what isn't enough, instead use out of what you have.

As children of God we should always be conscious of the Holy Spirit's indwelling in us. When you walk in this reality, you

won't feel limited or inadequate when faced with the problems of others. (1John4:18) You will multiply in Jesus name

amen.

Do not be consumed with satisfying yourself first, allow your heart to be moved by the needs of others and act on it

immediately!

CONCLUSIONCONCLUSIONCONCLUSION

Question 1

Imagine you are in a line of business in the industry, gaining market share and growing your top and bottom line. Then you meet someone

who's also in the same line of business but is struggling. From discussions, you realize that the challenges being faced are similar to the

ones you faced several years ago, figured out how to overcome and resulted in the success you now have. As a Christian in the

marketplace, what will you do to demonstrate God's love to this business owner – taking a cue from the story of the Samaritan. In the

same vein, what opportunities to demonstrate God's love can you identify among your colleagues, in your organization or among

stakeholders (vendors, customers etc.).

Question 2

Identifying a need does not necessarily demonstrate that we love. Taking responsibility for that need and doing what we can is the true

demonstration of God's love. The love of God is the compelling force the drives this in us regardless of who the recipient is. Below are some

of the ways we can demonstrate love in the marketplace. Rom 13:8, 1 Tim5:18, Zech8:18 , James 2:8, Luke10:30-37.

a) As an employer:

i. Pay your employees and settle your liabilities to vendors, the government etc. on time.

ii. Train and promote your employees when due.

b) As an organization:

i. Institutionalize diversity and inclusion, affinity groups to support certain causes and cater for specific needs e.g. mother's room,

prayer room, easy access for disabled etc.

ii. Be strategic about CSR activities – focus on real needs and not what will just look good on paper.

c) As an employee:

i. Be committed, considerate and diligent – don't rob your employer or be wasteful; be productive.

ii. Be a voice for others where you see unjust actions or inequality etc.

iii. Champion a cause that impacts lives and address needs you can see.

Mention others.

In the business environment, demonstrating love to our customers, employees, employers, competitors, suppliers. etc. could be the

defining experience that shows the love of God to that person and thereby draws their heart to the Father. When we show this kind of love,

we can be rest assured that God's resources will continually flow towards us. Offer a helping hand to someone irrespective of age, colour or

race. Be a shoulder or ladder for another. This cannot and will not in any way negatively impact the success of your career or business. As

you commit to showing the love of God, the power to make wealth will rest upon you and you will multiply and testify in Jesus name.

Pursuit of love III – Love solves problems Luke 10:25-37

The workplace or business environment is one of the places where we can show love as Christians considering that we spend most of our

time there. As Christians in the marketplace, we cannot simply operate business as usual i.e. only focused on meeting our financial goals,

sales target etc. Instead our interactions in the marketplace need to be laced with God's kind of love that takes responsibility for what isn't

going right and does something (within our capacity) about it. In our text we read the story of the Samaritan who was going about his

business (was on a business trip) but still had time to identify the need and demonstrate love to a Jew (colleagues, associates, competitor

etc. who ordinarily do not deserve such care) in need. This example highlights the fact that the kind of love we are discussing is not based

on the quality of the relationship. Rather, it's based on a decision to act like our heavenly father who allows the rain to fall on the just and

unjust alike. So, whether it's a competitor that speaks ill of your products, a colleague that is vying for a role you want and playing office

politics, an employee or employer who isn't treating you right etc., God expects us to show His love unconditionally. Today's focus will be on

identifying needs around us in the marketplace and steps we can take to meet those needs, so we can match our 'faith with works'.
