Message from Emeth Business Inc.
In an environment where pressing issues concerning internet security, fraud,
money-laundering, legislative hurdles, ICT solutions, protection of intellectual
property and a general misunderstanding of E-Commerce as a whole has
enticed more and more businesses to avoid the pursuit of incorporating E-
Commerce as a part of their marketing strategy, the directors of Emeth Business
Inc saw it fit to host this conference.
Its aims are to bring together corporate Barbados, local & international E-
Commerce solution providers and delegates not only to discuss the global
progress of e-commerce and its relevance for the Caribbean region, but to forge
networks which are liable to encourage E-Commerce activity in the coming
years.
We especially wish to welcome Senator Lynette Eastmond, Minister of Commerce
Consumer Affairs & Business Development for taking the time out of her busy
schedule to address us.
A special welcome to our Island Barbados is extended to our international
speakers Ms. Nancy Volesky, Chairman of the E-Business Division of the
Bermuda Chamber of Commerce & Director of E-Commerce for the Government
of Bermuda; and Mr. Bayo Odutola, Attorney-at-Law & Professor of Law at the
University of Ottawa and we also thank them for their commitment to ensuring
that their expertise is shared with all attendees.
We welcome the speakers, delegates, e-commerce solution providers, web-
designers, IT personnel and publishers who have come to this conference
seeking new knowledge.
We thank you all for your patronage of this conference and take this time to
invite you to our E-Commerce Conference scheduled for June 2007 and
Intellectual Property Conference in October 2007.

Island Safari Barbados
Many visitors to Barbados are amazed at the number of
attractions on this small island. Tour operators offer guided visits
to many of the attractions, or you can rent a car and visit the
sites on your own schedule. From long stretches of windswept
beaches and dense jungle hiking paths to historic plantation
lands and rum distilleries, Barbados is filled with exotic hidden
beauties as well as renowned gems. Take a bus tour through a
gigantic subterranean series of caves, or visit a church draped
in flowers in honour of one of our festivals. The active culture
and carefully curated history of our country will keep you as
busy as you could ever hope to be!
If you wish to make a tour reservation please call: Emeth Business
Inc., 1 + (246) 421-1529.
Location: Bush Hall Main Road, St. Michael, Barbados
This expedition will lead you to the eastern and northeastern
side of the island where you will have a chance to see and stop
at some of the most magnificent locations. Just sit comfortably
in one of our 4x4 Safari rigged Land Rovers as our professional
guides reveal some of the hidden secrets of Barbados through
gullies, forests, remote bays and coastal views.
Price per person on a single basis: $69.50 USD.
Tour includes: Lunch with a glass of wine and our famous jungle
juice, diet drinks and snacks are served along the way.
Atlantis Submarine
Harrison’s Cave
Location: Atlantis Adventure Center located at Shallow
Draught, Bridgetown
Come experience the adventure of a lifetime on board the
Atlantis Submarine! Board the shuttle vessel "Ocean Quest" as
you sit back and enjoy the seven-minute scenic cruise to the
Atlantis Submarine as the Atlantis crew gives an informative
talk. Once arriving at the dive site, you are treated to the sight
of the Submarine surfacing.
On board the vessel you are seated in spacious, air-
conditioned comfort as the submarine dives to 55 feet to view
the beautiful coral reef and the abundance of marine life,
including spectacular coral, sponge, and colorful fish through
large, clear viewing windows.
The 45-minute underwater journey is narrated by a
knowledgeable co-pilot who will point out and explain the
amazing sea life as well as give a history of Atlantis and the
submarine itself. Before returning to the surface, the submarine
descends to depths of 115 to 150 feet to view what has in the
past been reserved for scuba divers only - a sunken shipwreck!
Price per person on a single basis: $89 USD.
Tour includes: hotel pickup and travel voucher.
Location: St. Thomas
The "crystal caverns" are so large that electric bus tours
transport visitors throughout the many rooms. Harrison’s cave
was common knowledge among the locals for centuries, but
not explored until 1970.
The cave was opened to the public eleven years later. Some of
the sights of the subterranean chambers include blue-green
pools, 40 foot tall waterfalls, streams and unusual natural rock
formations. Tours are led by knowledgeable guides and last
approximately one hour. Each bus stops several times to allow
visitors a chance to walk around and see the cave up close.
The main entrance to the cave is a huge chamber 120 feet
below the surface separated into upper and lower levels.
Prepare to be amazed by this natural wonder of Barbados!
Price per person on a single basis: $16 USD.

GENERAL INFORMATIONPeople, History & Culture: Several mysteries concern the
ancient history of Barbados. It is thought that Arawak
Indians lived on the islands for centuries before the arrival
of European explorers. When the Portuguese arrived at
Barbados in 1536 they reported no inhabitants lived on
the island. It is thought that the Arawaks had moved off
the island or been decimated by the more powerful Carib
Indians. Though the Portuguese did not stay and establish
any settlements on the island they did give the island its
modern name- Los Barbados- named after a shaggy fir
tree that can still be found on the island- meaning the
"Bearded Ones".
English Settlers: The island again sat in relative isolation
until the arrival of the first British settlers in 1625. This group
of settlers claimed the island for England and set about
the cultivation of fields. As time would pass the island grew
prosperous as a major sugar cane producing business. So
valuable was the island that 26 forts guarded its 21miles of
coastline and English-style parliamentary buildings,
churches and homes soon rose up in Bridgetown. In 1639
Parliament was established on the island. Britain ruled the
island for the next 300 years. The island also served as a
military staging area to help in the colonization or
protection of other British colonies in the Caribbean. Its
mild climate was also thought to contribute to better
health and visitors flocked to the island in the 1700's to
improve their health. One of the most famous visitors at
that time was George Washington who caught smallpox
on his trip in 1751!
Barbados boasts a top-20 ranking in the United Nations’
global quality-of-life index and one of the highest literacy
rates in the world. Its services and amenities also rival
those of any developed country — pure and abundant
water, modern roads, reliable electricity (110 volts) and a
superb telecommunications system. The island is served by
a well-established financial system and a stable currency.
Superb cuisine abounds, as does duty-free shopping. A
healthy natural environment completes the picture, and
medical services are excellent and accessible. The capital
city of Bridgetown bustles by day, and at night has a
similar effect on coastal hot spots. And Barbadians are
known for a natural warmth and dignity as hospitable as
the climate. With daily air service by major international
and regional carriers, Barbados offers easy access. Arrivals
are received at immigration and customs with utmost
professionalism and courtesy. The perfect blend of
business and pleasure makes Barbados a paradise for
meetings and conventions.
The ideal location for business conferences and corporate
events, Barbados offers world-class conference facilities
providing a range of spaces for virtually any function.
From trade shows and conventions to seminars and
workshops, our selection of venues provides a choice of
settings to suit your agenda.

About BarbadosBarbados is unique with her mixture of English traditions and
Caribbean style. Often called "Little England" the island is home to
stone buildings, homes and churches built centuries ago. If one did
not see nearby swaying palm trees he might be convinced he was
in some London neighborhood. The people of Barbados are often
called by their nickname- Bajuns. The island has a literacy rate of
98%. They are proud of their ties to England and enjoy cricket and
afternoon tea. People still wear light jackets for dinner, observe
manners and speak with more of a British accent than a pure "West-
Indies" accent found on other Caribbean Islands. But while they
respect their ties to England and observe many English customs,
they are equally (if not more) proud of who they are and what
Barbados has made of itself.
For the most part the people are outgoing, friendly and very patient
with visitors. In fact, one of the reasons so many people enjoy going
to Barbados is the friendly people and the feeling that the resort or
hotel they are staying in is part of the "neighborhood" rather than
just staying in a resort "compound.”
When visiting Barbados, also select one of Barbados’ exciting
festivals to attend, Barbados celebrates a number of festivals
throughout the year which showcases the island’s national culture
and heritage. These festivals include The Barbados Jazz Festival: this
showcases several international and local artiste, The Barbados
Holetown Festival: showcases a celebration of the first landing of
settlers in Barbados, The Oistins Fish Festival: a celebration to honor
the contributions made to the Barbados fishing community, The
Holders Season: showcases opera, fine music and superb theatrical
performances by international artiste, Barbados Gospelfest Festival:
showcases a number of gospel artiste, Crop Over: a celebration
that symbolizes the end of the crop season in Barbados and the
island comes alive with sound of soca and calypso and brightly
colored costumes, and last but not least the National
Independence Festival of Creative Arts: showcases the best in
literary, culinary, performing and visual arts in Barbados.
