WE ARE OFF TO A GREAT START Our Council sponsored ballgame was a great success with 40 members of our Parish and Council attending a great bottom of the ninth nail biting win by the Morehead City Marlins! Not sure if Moses was parting the water, but the rain stopped just in time for the game to go on allowing a good time for all those attending. We appreciate all those who came out to make this first event of the council year a great success. Our Parish picnic on the 4th of July, sponsored by our 4th degree Assembly was a tremendous success. This FREE picnic, was well attended by Parishioners and Knights with plenty of food and beverages for all. Before the evening ended we opened it up to include members of the community who came to enjoy a fantastic fireworks show by the City of Havelock. We didn’t feed 5,000 but we didn’t run out of food either. Thank you to all who came and made this first event of the assembly year such a great success. We had so much fun doing this, we plan on doing it again next year!! We extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who came out to our yard sale or purchased our sausage. You generosity is really appreciated. We couldn’t do the things we do, without your prayers and support. Don’t forget, this coming Wednesday, July 17th we will have our Wednesday evening Rosary, 7:30PM in the Par-ish Office as the Choir will be having practice in the St. Benedict’s Building. All are welcome to join us in prayer to our Blessed Mother. MEN OF THE PARISH, TIME TO STEP UP. The Knights of Columbus Council 6648 invites all Catholic men over 17 to join us in serving our families, our parish, our Church, our God. Forms are available in the back of the Church or just ask one of our Knights wearing our red or blue name tags.

Congratulations to our newly baptized:

Alana Kaye Ballance and

Giuliana Patsy Ballance

What is a Scapular and Where Did It Come From?

The brown Scapular was presented by Our Lady of Mt. Carmel to St. Simon Stock on July 16, 1251.She promised to

save those who wear the scapular, and will shorten

their stay in Purgatory. So is it enough to simply wear the Scapular? Well, no. The

Blessed Virgin assigned certain conditions that must be fulfilled. 1. The Brown Scapular must

be worn continuously. 2. You must observe chastity

according to one’s state in life. 3. Recite daily the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Or Observe the fasts of the

Church together with abstaining from meat on

Wednesdays and Saturdays. In order to receive the spiritual

blessings associated with the Scapular, it is necessary to be formally enrolled in the Brown

Scapular. The enrollment is made only once by a priest or authorized person. The Scapular can be replaced afterwards by a medal, which has on one side the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and on the other, the image of Mary.
