• Gate-to-Gate Exercise: a collection of validation scenarios tailored to follow a flight object from its publication right up to the landing at the destination airport
• A Milan-Lisbon flight has been chosen for the exercise
• Realism of the scenario is constrained by the obvious limitations set by the availability and capabilities of legacy systems in the SWIM-SUIT prototype
• Focus is on the operational capabilities tested rather than on the actual systems involved (e.g. some steps are simulated or performed by stakeholders which have not been included in the exercise due to geographical constraints)

• First steps are Subscription and Publication of the Flight Object: all partners connect to the SWIM-SUIT network and subscribe to a specific topic of interest. CFMU publishes the FO related to our sample flight.– SWIM-SUIT Scenarios 5 and 2

• Alitalia aircraft at Milano MXP ready to leave from Lisbon, accordingly with the information stored in SEA BDV
• Responsibility is given to Airport CDM application, acting as Ground Control, thus becoming FO Manager.
– SWIM-SUIT Scenario 7: NATS A-CDM Shadow Mode Application• EOBT and TTOT are calculated by the A-CDM system and assigned to the
Alitalia Flight, basing on its scheduled departure time. • Due to an unexpected event (e.g. volcanic ash cloud disruption) a new
delayed TSAT is then assigned to the flight and published through SWIM-SUIT
• Alitalia aircraft receives the updated TSAT and displays it in the aircraft cockpit.
– SWIM-SUIT Scenario 7: Boeing FMS and EFB• For operational reasons, the pilot decides to absorb the delay at the gate,
thus setting its TOBT at a value equal to the newly assigned TSAT. A new ETA is calculated by the Boeing FMS on the aircraft, basing on this new data.
• At the designated time, the Alitalia aircraft takes off and goes en-route. The new manager of the FO is ENAV ACC

Advantages for ANSPAdvantages for ANSP
• For ANSPs in the SWIM domains– The collaborative trajectory management mechanism works
the same way regardless of the location of the aircraft operator/dispatcher
– Negotiation of trajectory changes and alerting of centers is largely a result of the controller actions
• All subscribers see the update to flight data respond appropriately to it.
– Controller workload and coordination is reduced, and information is timely and accurate with reduced possibility of errors
– Probable support for an improved safety case
