Four significant full moon festivals

The Astrological Diary gives the 27 lunar constellations, called "Nakshatras" with

Sanskrit names. Four full moon festivals, celebrated since ancient times and of

particular importance for meditative work, are based on the position of the

moon in the nakshatras and not on the signs in which the sun is located:

• The festival of the Vaisakha full moon (moon in Visâkha or Anûrâdha, sun in

Taurus or Gemini).

• The festival of the Sravana full moon (moon in Sravana or Dhanishta, sun in

Leo or Virgo).

• The festival of the Karthika full moon (moon in Krittika or Rohini), sun in

Scorpio or Sagittarius); Rohini is Aldebaran.

• The festival of the Magha full moon (moon in Magha or Pûrvaphalguni, sun in

Aquarius or Pisces).

These lunar constellations form pairs and they are associated with the Fixed

Cross. When a full moon occurs in these four constellations, energies from Lord

Sanat Kumara are distributed during the full moon hours to help establish us

firmly on the path.
