Purpose and scopeThe purpose of this guide is to help you successfully use the 2201R Mobile Tester’s features and capabilities. This guide includes task-based instructions that describe how to install and use the 2201R Mobile Tester. General conditions of useThis product is designed and tested to comply with the requirements of BS EN 61010-1 ‘Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control and laboratory use’, for Class I portable equipment and is for use in a pollution degree 2 environment. The equipment is designed to operate from an installation category II supply.

Equipment should be protected from the ingress of liquids and precipitation such as rain, snow, etc. When moving the equipment from a cold to a hot environment, it is important to allow the temperature of the equipment to stabilize before it is connected to the supply to avoid condensation forming. The equipment must only be operated within the environmental conditions specified in the data sheet, otherwise the protection provided by the equipment may be impaired.

This product is not approved for use in hazardous atmospheres or safety-critical applications.

The safety of any system incorporating this equipment is the responsibility of the assembler of the system.

WARNING

Initial visual inspectionAfter unpacking the equipment, inspect the shipping container and its cushioning material for signs of stress or damage. If damage is identified, retain the packing material for examination by the carrier in the event that a claim is made. Examine the equipment for signs of damage; do not connect the equipment to a supply when damage is present, as internal electrical damage could result in shock if the equipment is turned on.

WARNING

Electrical hazards (AC supply voltage)This equipment conforms with IEC Safety Class I, meaning that it is provided with a protective grounding lead. To maintain this protection the supply lead must always be connected to the source of supply via a socket with a grounded contact.

Be aware that the supply filter contains capacitors that may remain charged after the equipment is disconnected from the supply. Although the stored energy is within the approved safety requirements, a slight shock may be felt if the plug pins are touched immediately after removal.

Do not remove instrument covers as this may result in personal injury. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.

WARNING

VentilationBefore switching on the instrument, ensure that ventilation slots are not restricted, or obstructed with loose material.

Provide clearance of at least 3 cm (1 in) between all sides of the instrument and adjacent surfaces. A failure to provide adequate clearances increases internal temperatures, possibly reducing the reliability of the equipment and degrading its performance, or even causing a fire.

Remove the instrument from the carry case before use. Never power up the instrument in the carry case. If a battery is fitted, always switch off the instrument with the rear-panel rocker switch before placing the instrument in the carry case.

WARNING

Toxic hazardsSome of the components used in this instrument may include resins and other materials that give off toxic fumes if incinerated. Take appropriate precautions, therefore, in the disposal of these items.

External power supplyThe external power supply of the 2201R Mobile Tester is a safety class I equipment as defined in EN 60950.

Do not try to open the power supply. There are no serviceable parts inside. If the power supply is defective you can obtain a new one from Cobham (part number 23725/657).

Use the supplied power cord or an appropriate replacement.

Do not replace the power cord with an inadequately rated cord.

The power cord set must be an appropriately rated and approved cord-set in accordance with the regulations of the country it is used in.

Power supply ratingsBefore powering on, ensure that the operating voltage that is permitted for the instrument is the same as your power source. The external power supply adjusts itself automatically to the applied (permissible) line voltage.

Input voltage range: 100–240 VAC.

Input current: 1.5 A

Frequency range: 50–60 Hz.

Operating temperature: 0–40°C

Storage temperature: -20–85°C

Humidity: 93% RH max, non-condensing

WARNING

LithiumA Lithium battery is used in this equipment.

As Lithium is a toxic substance, the battery should in no circumstances be crushed, incinerated or disposed of in normal waste.

Do not attempt to recharge this type of battery. Do not short circuit or force discharge since this might cause the battery to vent, overheat or explode.

WARNING

Liquid crystal display (LCD) moduleThe liquid crystal substance within the display panel used in this instrument is a toxic substance. If the display panel is damaged and any of the liquid crystal substance leaks out, do not allow it to come into contact with your mouth. If the substance comes into contact with your skin, immediately wash the affected areas with soap and water, and seek medical advice.

The display illumination is produced by a cold cathode fluorescent tube (CCFT). This contains a small amount of mercury gas, which is a toxic substance.

The display panel is made of glass. Therefore, do not subject the instrument to mechanical shocks that might cause fractures.

Do not dispose of these modules, or any part of them, in domestic waste. Use only approved waste disposal methods.

Battery packAn optional battery pack may be attached to the rear panel of the instrument. The battery is removable.

Storing the instrument

If you are storing the instrument for more than two weeks, it is recommended that the battery be removed to prevent it from being discharged by the instrument’s standby current.

During maintenance and repairMaintenance and repair is only allowed to specially trained service technicians. Opening a unit without permission causes loss of warranty.

Live parts can be exposed when you open covers or remove components from the external power supply. Connecting parts can also be live.

Capacitors in the power supply can still be charged, even though the instrument has been separated from all voltage sources.

Only use fuses with identical specifications to the replaced ones. You should never patch fuses or short the fuse holder.

Additional cautionsTo avoid damage to the instrument, observe the following:

Risk of electric shockDo not interrupt the protective conductor. Any interruption of the protective conductor to the external power supply may result in electric shock.

Do not open or dismantle the battery.Do not expose the battery to heat or fire. Avoid storing it in direct sunlight.Do not short-circuit the battery.Do not store the battery in a box or drawer where it may be short-circuited by other metal objects.Do not subject the battery to mechanical shock.In the event of a battery leaking, do not allow the liquid to come into contact with the skin or eyes. If contact has been made, wash the affected area with copious amounts of water and seek medical advice.Charge the battery only in the instrument or with the desktop charger accessory (part number 23725/529).Do not store the battery for longer than one month in a discharged state.Do not store the battery for longer than one year without recharging.Switch off the instrument with the rear-panel rocker switch prior to transportation or stowage.Charging below 5°C could damage the battery.

CAUTION

Only use a 50 N-type connector to connect to the RF in/out port of the 2201R Mobile Tester. Use of any other connector may result in damage to the instrument.

About the 2201R Mobile Tester

Cobham’s 2201R Mobile Tester is a test instrument for GSM-R mobile devices and portable GSM-R Cab Radio systems for rail companies. Devices can be tested by simulating call features specific to the GSM-R, such as Voice Group Call Service (VGCS) and Railway Emergency (REC) calls.

The 2201R Mobile Tester is small, easy to use and affordable, and supports both GSM and GSM-R phones and devices.

Features and capabilities• Supports voice group call service (VGCS).

• Ability to define Group ID and priority level for VGCS.

• Reads out the SW version number from the terminal (IMEISV).

• GSM-R Emergency calls and validation of status messages.

Options

2231 GSM OptionThe 2231 GSM Option performs the necessary GSM call processing and measurements on a voice channel or a test channel (loopback channel). Measurements include:

• Output power

• Power vs. time

• RMS and peak phase error

• Frequency error

• BER

• Reported RSSI

• Burst length

2270 GSM-R OptionIn GSMR mode, a 2201R Mobile Tester can transmit and receive prioritized group calls (Voice Group Call Service). Group calls are one of the advanced speech call services available in GSM-R networks. Prioritization of group calls defines, among other things, whether a given group call is permitted to interrupt a group call with a lower priority. VGCS allows more than two users to participate in the same call. The tester simulates the VGCS functions of a GSM-R base station in transmit/receive mode. Measurements include:

• Output power

• Power vs. time

• RMS and peak phase error

• Frequency error

• Burst length

Basic Group Call functionality involves support of the following scenarios:

• Call from Base Station

• Call from Mobile Station

2232 GPRS OptionThe 2232 GPRS Option is an extension of the 2231 GSM Option, adding the necessary protocol for the GPRS Attach and to set up a test channel. The measurements are the same as with the GSM Option, bur also supporting BLER measurements. Protocol and measurements support data traffic on one timeslot in either the uplink or the downlink.

2233 EDGE OptionThe 2233 EDGE Option enables 8PSK transmitter measurements to ensure that the EDGE transmitter functions correctly. For the purpose of the measurements, a data connection is established. The 2231 GSM Option is a prerequisite of the EDGE option.

2261 Autotest OptionThe Autotest option allows for complete automated tests without a separate PC, but with similar ease of use to 7310 Lector-Scriptor. The same scripts can be used for Lector and for Autotest on the 2201R Mobile Tester. 7315 Scriptor can be used as an administration tool for the Autotest Option. Scriptor offers the possibility of transferring data to the 2201R and generating and grouping test scripts with it.

The 2201R with the Autotest option includes different test scripts, both generic as well as manufacturer-specific ones. Semi-skilled personnel can easily run tests and interpret the clear Pass or Fail verdict.

System setup

The 2201R Mobile Tester tests GSM-R mobile phones and cab radios. The unit under test is connected directly using an adapter cable.

With 7311 Lector Basic (included in the 2201R Mobile Tester delivery), the 2201R can be controlled remotely from a PC. While the 2201R’s manual mode is ideal for fault finding, Lector Basic includes a large number of test sequences for automatic testing against defined limits, with a simple Pass/Fail verdict and a detailed measurement protocol for further fault analysis.

Scope of deliveryWhen unpacking the 2201R Mobile Tester, ensure that the following items are included:

• 2201R Mobile Tester

• Power supply

• Power cord

• This Getting Started guide

• USB flash drive

• 1101 GSM-R SIM card

• USB cable

• USB to Ethernet adapter assembly

Software requirements7311 Lector Basic is PC software that can optionally be used with the 2201R Mobile Tester. It is designed to run on 32-bit Microsoft Windows® operating systems (Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 (note however that USB control is not available with Windows 7). You need to log in with administrator rights to install the software.

Hardware requirementsThe following are hardware requirements as well as hardware recommendations for achieving the most reliable test results.

PC specificationsIf you want to use the 2201R Mobile Tester with one of the products of the Lector and Scriptor family of testing products, Cobham recommends the following minimum PC specifications:

• at least 60 MB of free hard-disk space

• a free RS-232 or USB port

• a pointing device, for example a mouse, connected to the PC

• a screen size of at least 1024 x 768 pixels

In addition, the PC needs an interface to the instrument to be controlled. Ensure that both the PC and the instrument can be connected using one of the following interfaces supported by the 2201R:

• TCP/IP

• USB

• RS-232

RF connectionA cable connection to the device under test is required.

Setting up the hardwareIn order to set up the test system, proceed as follows:

1. Connect the cable of the power supply to the DC In plug that is located on the rear panel of the 2201R Mobile Tester.

2. Connect one end of the AC power cord to the power supply, and the other to an AC power outlet.

3. Connect the RF In/Out plug on the rear panel of the 2201R to the device under test, using a 50 shielded RF cable with an N-type connector (male) to connect to the unit under test; simply screw the connector tightly onto the instrument.

The following additional steps need to be taken to connect the instrument to a PC that is running Lector:

4. Place the 2201R close to the PC that will control the instrument.

5. Use a USB cable to connect the 2201R’s USB-B port (on the rear) to a free USB port on the PC. Alternatively, you can connect the 2201R to the PC using a LAN connection. Use a standard CAT-5 LAN cable to connect the LAN plug on the 2201R’s rear panel to a LAN wall outlet if you are using a local area network. Alternatively, connect the 2201R to a PC directly, using the standard LAN cable with the LAN-to-USB adapter that is included in the delivered items.

Installing the Lector software1. Go to the Cobham website and access the Lector and Scriptor software at:

http://ats.aeroflex.com/mobile-device-test-products/7310-lector-and-scriptor_family

2. Go to the Software Downloads area and select 7310 Lector and Scriptor Software.

3. Follow the instructions on the screen to download the software

4. After completion of the Lector and Scriptor installation, the setup program asks if you wish to install the HASP USB driver. If you want to run 7312 Lector Enhanced or 7315 Scriptor:

a Confirm HASP HL USB dongle driver installation. If selected, the HASP device driver is started.

b Confirm the Welcome menu and the license agreement.The HASP device driver is installed. Depending on the dongle installed, you may now be able to use the 7311 Lector Basic, 7312 Lector Enhanced or 7315 Scriptor features.

5. The setup program for the 2201R Mobile Tester USB Driver appears. Follow the instructions on the screen.The USB driver is installed. After completion, you are able to control the instrument via USB.

6. Call up the 7310 Lector software on your PC by selecting Start > Programs > Willtek > 731x Lector-Scriptor > 731x Lector-Scriptor.

7. On the 2201R, select Connection > Define Interface. The Connection box appears.

8. In the first column, select the instrument (device) to be used with the 2201R for the next test. If no device has been defined as yet, select the first one and fill out the device information according to the table below.

9. Confirm your changes by selecting OK.

10. The PC tries to set up a connection with the tester and informs you if the attempt was successful.

If you are using a Windows Vista PC, the operating system may ask you for USB driver software after connecting the 2201R Mobile Tester over the USB for the first time. In this case, indicate the following directory for the USB driver: 2201R-USB-Vista.The driver software is then installed on your Vista PC.

For RS-232 connections, use the physical COM port number. The RS-232 settings are irrelevant for 2201R if you use a USB connection.

Connecting the 2201R Mobile TesterThe 2201R Mobile Tester offers different connectors for a variety of applications. The following section describes the connectors available and provides information on technical data and application purposes.

DC In

The 2201R Mobile Tester can be operated from an external DC source (such as the power supply that is delivered with it) or a car battery, or from the optional battery pack that attaches to the rear panel. The DC voltage must be in the range from 11 to 15 V. The power consumption may be up to 58 W.

The DC In plug is located on the right-hand side at the back of the instrument. Read more in chapter “Installation”, in particular in the section ’Setting up the hardware’ on page 7.

RF In/Out

RF In/Out is a 50 N-type connector (female) on the left-hand side of the rear panel.

Use a 50 shielded RF cable with an N-type connector (male) to connect to the unit under test; simply screw the connector tightly onto the instrument.

If you have a 50 shielded RF cable with a BNC connector (male), use an N to BNC adapter to connect the cable to the 2201R. Cobham offers an appropriate adapter.

RF input/output connection

The RF input/output connection is an N-type connector on the rear panel of the instrument. The absolute maximum input power rating is:

+41 dBm peak GSM

+36 dBm average power

Exceeding these limits could cause damage to the instrument.

This specification is compatible with direct connection to all GSM-R MS devices meeting ETSI TS102 933-1, including power class 2 (8 W). The signal is assumed to have the specified duty cycle, so take care if diagnosing faulty devices where the transmitter is permanently stuck on.

USB

There is a USB plug on the right-hand side of the front panel. It can be used to connect an external keyboard, a computer mouse, or a USB flash drive. More USB ports can be found on the rear panel.

LAN, USB-A

There is an RJ-45 LAN plug on the right-hand side of the rear panel. Additional USB plugs can be found below the LAN plug.

The 2201R Mobile Tester can be controlled from an external computer via a local area network (LAN), using a TCP/IP connection at 10 or 100 Mbit/s. This high-speed connection can also be used to transfer traces to a PC or to update the system software.

The IP address can be either obtained automatically from a DHCP server, or set up manually in the system configuration menu.

Setting up the IP address, the command set to control the 2201R Mobile Tester, and the responses from the instrument are explained in the 2201R Mobile Tester User Guide.

Connect the instrument to the LAN with a standard LAN cable with RJ-45 connectors. Alternatively, connect the instrument to a PC directly using a cross-patch cable.

USB-BThis is a USB slave plug on the right-hand side of the front panel. It can be used to connect the 2201R Mobile Tester to a PC and control it from there. A typical application for this is an automated test using 7311 Lector Basic, which is included in the delivery of the 2201R.

CAUTION

Use only a 50 N-type connector to connect to the RF in port of the 2201R. Using any other connector may result in damage to the instrument.

RS-232

This 9-pin sub-D connector on the rear panel of the 2201R Mobile Tester can be used to control the instrument remotely via a serial interface (RS-232). The command set and the responses conform to the SCPI standard and are explained in the 2201R Mobile Tester User Guide.

The RS-232 connector can also be used to load and store results and settings and to update the operating software. See the 2201R Mobile Tester User Guide for more details.

In order to connect the 2201R with a controlling PC over RS-232, use a null modem (PC to PC) cable.

Ext. Ref. In

The Ext. Ref. In plug on the rear panel (adjacent to the RS-232 connector) can be used as an input for an external time base (reference clock). If an external 10 MHz clock is connected, the instrument automatically uses this clock as a frequency reference, and displays a symbol on the LCD. See the 2201R Mobile Tester User Guide for more details.

CAUTION

The input for the external trigger signal is designed for TTL input levels only. Higher levels at this port can damage the instrument.

Applying power to the 2201R

Once the 2201R Mobile Tester is connected to DC power and the unit under test, make power available to the 2201R with the Power rocker switch on the rear panel (right-hand side). This switch enables the front-panel on/off switch but does not yet power up the instrument. This is a safety feature to prevent the instrument being switched on accidentally within its carrying case.

The instrument can now be switched on with the on/off switch on the front panel (left-hand side):

Once the instrument is switched on, it takes a few seconds for the instrument to load and start its firmware.

Switching off the 2201RTo switch off the instrument, press and hold the power switch on the front panel for a few seconds. If the instrument is being transported in its case, turn off the Power rocker switch on the rear panel too.

NOTE

As soon as you connect the 2201R Mobile Tester to DC power, the yellow status light on the front panel illuminates and the battery charges, regardless of the setting of the Power switch on the rear panel.

NOTE

The warm-up time for precision measurements is 30 minutes.

Using the front panel

LCDThe LCD screen shows the menus that guide you through configuration and measurements when the 2201R Mobile Tester is switched on and the operating software is loaded. The menus consist of different sections as follows:

The top row shows the signaling and instrument status on the left.

On the right-hand side, the top row displays the name of the current menu.

The bottom row displays the meaning of the soft keys that are located beneath the LCD screen. Press keys that are marked with … to switch to an alternative soft key menu.

The rest of the display (in the middle) shows input and result fields. If there are input fields available in the menu, these start at the top-left. Graphical output, if available, is displayed on the right-hand side.

KeypadThe front panel of the 2201R Mobile Tester has a number of keys, as follows:

Soft keys

The soft keys are the six keys below the LCD screen. Their meaning depends on the currently active menu and is displayed on the screen, above the soft keys.

If the description for the right-most soft key displays ‘1/2’ or ‘2/2’ on top, there is a second row of soft keys available. Press the … key to switch to the alternate soft key menu.

Power status LED

The power status LED is located next to the on-off switch. It is a two-color LED that shows the DC power condition of the instrument and the state of charge of the battery, if fitted. A new instrument is delivered with a partially charged battery, which starts charging as soon as the DC supply is connected. You can use the instrument straight away even if the battery is uncharged or is not installed.

Cursor keys

In menu mode (while not entering text or a new value in an input field), the Left and Right cursor keys allow you to move up and down, left and right between input fields.

In input mode (while entering text or values), you can move the cursor between the characters or digits with the help of the cursor keys.

Entry keys

You can open the currently highlighted input field and enter new values or text just by using the entry keys. The Enter key (marked with a tick) is used to accept the current value.

In input fields for numerical values, you can use the numeric keys to enter digits, the +/- key to toggle the sign, and the . key to separate the integer part from the decimal places of the input value or to enter the separator within IP addresses.

In input fields for text, the numeric keys can also be used to enter characters as shown on the key. Just press the respective key multiple times to change to the desired character.

Function keys

The Backspace function key can be used in input mode to erase the character in front of the current cursor position.

The Escape function key is used in menu mode to leave the current menu and move one menu level up.

In input mode, the Escape key is used to leave input mode without accepting the current input. The previous input is maintained.

CleaningBefore starting any cleaning, switch off the instrument and disconnect it from the supply by removing the power cord.

Case exterior: use a soft cloth moistened with water to clean the case. Do not use aerosol or liquid solvent cleaners.

LCD: take care not to scratch the LCD during use or when cleaning. Clean the LCD by wiping a slightly damp, soft, lint-free cloth gently over the surface. If this does not remove finger marks, dampen the cloth sparingly with isopropyl alcohol.

Appendix ARepair

This chapter describes how to return the equipment to Cobham.

Equipment return instructionsPlease contact your local service center for Cobham products via telephone or web site for return or reference authorization to accompany your equipment. For each piece of equipment returned for repair, attach a tag that includes the following information:

• Owner’s name, address, and telephone number.

• Serial number, product type, and model.

• Warranty status. (If you are unsure of the warranty status of your instrument, include a copy of the invoice or delivery note.)

• Detailed description of the problem or service requested.

• Name and telephone number of the person to contact regarding questions about the repair.

• Return authorization (RA) number (US customers), or reference number (European customers).

If possible, return the equipment using the original shipping container and material. Additional Cobham shipping containers are available from Cobham on request. If the original container is not available, the unit should be carefully packed so that it is not damaged in transit. Cobham is not liable for any damage that may occur during shipping. The customer should clearly mark the Cobham-issued RA or reference number on the outside of the package and ship it prepaid and insured to Cobham.

AEROFLEX LIMITEDSOFTWARE LICENCE AND WARRANTY

This document is an Agreement between the user of this Licensed Software, the Licensee, and Aeroflex Limited (‘Aeroflex’), theLicensor. By installing or commencing to use the Licensed Software you accept the terms of this Agreement. If you do not agree tothe terms of this Agreement do not use the Licensed Software.

1. DEFINITIONS

The following expressions will have the meanings set out below for the purposes of this Agreement:

Add-In Application Software Licensed Software that may be loaded separately from time to time into the DesignatedEquipment to improve or modify its functionality

Computer Application Software Licensed Software supplied to run on a standard PC or workstationDesignated Equipment means either:

the single piece of equipment or system supplied by Aeroflex upon which the LicensedSoftware is installed; or

a computer that is connected to a single piece of equipment or system supplied by Aeroflex uponwhich computer the Licensed Software is installed

Downloaded Software any software downloaded from an Aeroflex web site

Embedded Software Licensed Software that forms part of the Designated Equipment supplied by Aeroflex andwithout which the Equipment cannot function

Licence Fee means either the fee paid or other consideration given to Aeroflex for the use of the LicensedSoftware on the Designated Equipment

Licensed Software all and any programs, listings, flow charts and instructions in whole or in part including Add-in,Computer Application, Downloaded and Embedded Software supplied to work with DesignatedEquipment

2. LICENCE FEE

The Licensee shall pay the Licence Fee to Aeroflex in accordance with the terms of the contract between the Licensee and Aeroflex.

3. TERM

This Agreement shall be effective from the date of receipt or download (where applicable) of the Licensed Software by the Licenseeand shall continue in force until terminated under the provisions of Clause 8.4. LICENCE

4.1 The following rights and restrictions in this Article 4 apply to all Licensed Software unless otherwise expressly stated in otherArticles of this Agreement.

4.2 Unless and until terminated, this Licence confers upon the Licensee the non-transferable and non-exclusive right to use theLicensed Software on the Designated Equipment.

4.3 Neither the Licensed Software nor any information provided by Aeroflex to the Licensee nor any licence and rights grantedhereunder, may be sold, leased, assigned, sublicensed, electronically distributed, timeshared or otherwise transferred, inwhole or in part by the Licensee other than as specified in this Licence without the prior written consent of Aeroflex. Suchconsent may be withheld at Aeroflex's sole discretion.

4.4 The Licensee may not use the Licensed Software on other than the Designated Equipment, unless written permission is firstobtained from Aeroflex and until the appropriate additional Licence Fee has been paid to Aeroflex.

4.5 The Licensee may not amend or alter the Licensed Software and shall have no right or licence other than that stipulatedherein.

4.6 Except as specifically permitted elsewhere in this Agreement the Licensee may make not more than two copies of theLicensed Software (but not the Authoring and Language Manuals) in machine-readable form for operational security andshall ensure that all such copies include Aeroflex's copyright notice, together with any features which disclose the name ofthe Licensed Software and the Licensee. Furthermore, the Licensee shall not permit the Licensed Software or any part to bedisclosed in any form to any third party and shall maintain the Licensed Software in secure premises to prevent anyunauthorized disclosure. The Licensee shall notify Aeroflex immediately if the Licensee has knowledge that any unlicensedparty possesses the Licensed Software. The Licensee's obligation to maintain confidentiality shall cease when the LicensedSoftware and all copies have been destroyed or returned. The copyright in the Licensed Software shall remain with Aeroflex.The Licensee will permit Aeroflex at all reasonable times to audit the use of the Licensed Software.

4.7 The Licensee will not disassemble or reverse engineer the Licensed Software, nor sub-license, lease, rent or part withpossession or otherwise transfer the whole or any part of the Licensed Software.

5 ADDITIONAL LICENCE RIGHTS SPECIFIC TO PXI SOFTWARE

5.1 Definitions for PXI Software

The following expressions will have the meanings set out below for the purposes of the supplementary rights granted in this Article.

PXI Drivers All 3000 Series PXI module device drivers including embedded firmware that are installed atruntime

PXI Executable Applications All executable applications supplied with each 3000 Series PXI module including:-

PXI Studio

Soft Front Panels (manual operation graphical user interfaces)

Utilities including: RF Investigator, PXI Version Information and Self Test

PXI Spectrum Analysis Library The spectrum analysis measurement suite library .dll software supplied with each 3000 SeriesPXI module

PXI Optional Application Library Individual measurement suite available from a range of optional .dll application libraries

5.2 PXI Drivers, PXI Executable Applications and PXI Spectrum Analysis Library Licence Rights

Subject to the licence granted in Article 4 hereof notwithstanding the limitations on number of copies in Clause 4.5 hereof, theLicensee is entitled to make and distribute as many copies of the PXI Drivers and PXI Executable Applications as necessary for usewith 3000 Series PXI modules acquired by the Licensee from Aeroflex or its authorized distributor or reseller provided that theLicensee may not sell or charge a fee for the PXI Drivers and PXI Executable Applications.

5.3 PXI Optional Application Library Licence Rights

Subject to the licence granted in Article 4 hereof notwithstanding the limitations on number of copies in Clause 4.5 hereof, theLicensee is entitled to distribute as many copies of any PXI Optional Application Library as necessary for use with 3000 Series PXImodules acquired by the Licensee from Aeroflex or its authorized distributor or reseller provided that:

5.3.1 copies of the applicable PXI Optional Application Library are used solely with 3000 Series PXI modules which thecustomer has purchased with the corresponding option or part number for the applicable PXI Optional ApplicationLibrary; and

5.3.2 the Licensee may not sell or charge a fee for the PXI Optional Application Library.

6 WARRANTY

6.1 Aeroflex certifies that the Licensed Software supplied by Aeroflex will at the time of delivery function substantially inaccordance with the applicable Software Product Descriptions, Data Sheets or Product Specifications published by Aeroflex.

6.2 The warranty period (unless an extended warranty for Embedded Software has been purchased) from date of delivery inrespect of each type of Licensed Software is:

PXI Drivers 24 months

Embedded Software 12 months

Add-In Application Software 90 days

Computer Application Software 90 days

Downloaded Software No warranty6.3 If during the appropriate Warranty Period the Licensed Software does not conform substantially to the Software Product

Descriptions, Data Sheets or Product Specifications Aeroflex will provide:

6.3.1 In the case of Embedded Software and at Aeroflex’s discretion either a fix for the problem or an effective and efficientwork-around.

6.3.2 In the case of Add-In Application Software and Computer Application Software and at Aeroflex’s discretion replacementof the software or a fix for the problem or an effective and efficient work-around.

6.4 Aeroflex does not warrant that the operation of any Licensed Software will be uninterrupted or error free.

6.5 The above Warranty does not apply to:

6.5.1 Defects resulting from software not supplied by Aeroflex, from unauthorized modification or misuse or from operationoutside of the specification.

6.5.2 Third party produced proprietary software ('Third Party Software') which Aeroflex may deliver with its products (wheresuch Third Party Software carries a more limited warranty than the above warranty). In such case Aeroflex will providea remedy for any non-conformance of the Third Party Software commensurate with the third party's warranty to Aeroflex(if any).

6.6 The remedies offered above are sole and exclusive remedies and to the extent permitted by applicable law are in lieu of anyimplied conditions, guarantees or warranties whatsoever and whether statutory or otherwise as to the Licensed Software all ofwhich are hereby expressly excluded.

7. INDEMNITY7.1 Aeroflex shall defend, at its expense, any action brought against the Licensee alleging that the Licensed Software infringes

any patent, registered design, trademark or copyright, and shall pay all Licensee's costs and damages finally awarded up to anaggregate equivalent to the Licence Fee provided the Licensee shall not have done or permitted to be done anything whichmay have been or become any such infringement and shall have exercised reasonable care in protecting the same failingwhich the Licensee shall indemnify Aeroflex against all claims costs and damages incurred and that Aeroflex is given promptwritten notice of such claim and given information, reasonable assistance and sole authority to defend or settle such claim onbehalf of the Licensee. In the defense or settlement of any such claim, Aeroflex may obtain for the Licensee the right tocontinue using the Licensed Software or replace it or modify it so that it becomes non-infringing.

7.2 Aeroflex shall not be liable if the alleged infringement:

7.2.1 is based upon the use of the Licensed Software in combination with other software not furnished by Aeroflex, or

7.2.2 is based upon the use of the Licensed Software alone or in combination with other software in equipment not functionallyidentical to the Designated Equipment, or

7.2.3 arises as a result of Aeroflex having followed a properly authorized design or instruction of the Licensee, or

7.2.4 arises out of the use of the Licensed Software in a country other than the one disclosed to Aeroflex as the intendedcountry of use of the Licensed Software at the commencement of this Agreement.

7.3 Aeroflex shall not be liable to the Licensee for any loss of use or for loss of profits or of contracts arising directly or indirectlyout of any such infringement of patent, registered design, trademark or copyright.

7.4 Other than as may be covered by the indemnity provisions of Clauses 7.1, 7.2 and 7.3 Aeroflex shall not, under anycircumstances, be liable to the Licensee for any direct, indirect, special, consequential and/or contingent loss or damage (andsuch loss or damage shall include without limitation loss of use or profit, loss of revenue, loss of product, liquidated damagesor penalties, economic loss, delay in operations, loss of contracts or loss of business) whether or not the same are foreseeableand whether arising out of breach of contract, tort, statutory duty or otherwise. The total liability of Aeroflex and itsemployees, in contract, tort, or otherwise (including negligence, warranty, indemnity, and strict liability) howsoever arisingout of this Licence shall be limited to the total amount of the Licence Fee and total support fees actually paid to Aeroflex bythe Licensee.

8. TERMINATION8.1 Notwithstanding anything herein to the contrary, this Licence shall forthwith determine if the Licensee:

8.1.1 As an individual has a Receiving Order made against him or is adjudicated bankrupt or compounds with creditors or as acorporate body, compounds with creditors or has a winding-up order made against it or

8.1.2 Parts with possession of the Designated Equipment.

8.2 This Licence may be terminated by notice in writing to the Licensee if the Licensee shall be in breach of any of its obligationshereunder and continue in such breach for a period of 21 days after notice thereof has been served on the Licensee.

8.3 On termination of this Agreement for any reason, Aeroflex may require the Licensee to return to Aeroflex all copies of theLicensed Software in the custody of the Licensee and the Licensee shall, at its own cost and expense, comply with suchrequirement within 14 days and shall, at the same time, certify to Aeroflex in writing that all copies of the Licensed Softwarein whatever form have been obliterated from the Designated Equipment.

9. THIRD PARTY LICENCES9.1 The Licensed Software or part thereof may be the proprietary property of third party licensors. In such an event such third

party licensors (as may be referenced on the software media, or any on screen message on start up of the software or on theorder acknowledgement) and/or Aeroflex may directly enforce the terms of this Agreement and may terminate the Agreementif the Licensee is in breach of the conditions contained herein.

9.2 If any third party software supplied with the Licensed Software is supplied with, or contains or displays the third party’s ownlicence terms then the Licensee shall abide by such third party licence terms (for the purpose of this Article the term “thirdparty” shall include other companies within the Aeroflex group of companies).

10. EXPORT REGULATIONSThe Licensee undertakes that where necessary the Licensee will conform with all relevant export regulations imposed by theGovernments of the United Kingdom and/or the United State of America.

11. U.S. GOVERNMENT RESTRICTED RIGHTS

The Licensed Software and documentation are provided with RESTRICTED RIGHTS. Use, duplication, or disclosure by theGovernment is subject to restrictions as set forth in subparagraph (c)(1)(ii) of the Rights in Technical Data and Computer Softwareclause at DFAR 252.227-7013 or subparagraphs (c)(1) and (2) of the Commercial Computer Software-Restricted Rights at 48 CFR52.227-19, as applicable.

12. NOTICESAny notice to be given by the Licensee to Aeroflex shall be addressed to:

Aeroflex Limited, Longacres House, Six Hills Way, Stevenage, SG1 2AN, UK.

13. LAW AND JURISDICTIONThis Agreement shall be governed by the laws of England and shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts. Thisagreement constitutes the whole agreement between the parties and may be changed only by a written agreement signed by bothparties.
