Postseason AwardsBig 12 postseason football awards will be announced at the conclusion of regular season play.

BCS Sightings The Big 12 has made 20 appearances in a BCS game in the 15-year history of the structure. The Conference has placed at least one team in the top four of the fi nal BCS Standings in 11 of 15 years. The Big 12 is 9-11 all-time in BCS games and has advanced two teams in the same season fi ve times (2001, ‘03, ‘04, ‘07, ‘08). The Conference ranks second with seven appearances in the BCS national championship game.

Heisman Trophy WinnersThe Big 12 has produced fi ve Heisman Trophy winners since the inception of the league in 1996, which ties for the lead during this time span. The Big 12 has had a Heisman fi nalist (top four in the fi nal voting) 12 out of 17 seasons - no other conference has had more.

In a compilation of Heisman voting since 1996 (based on the top four fi nishers assigning four points for fi rst, three for second, etc.), the Big 12 has had the most Heisman success with 47 points, outdistancing the SEC in second with 41 points and the Pac-12 in third with 33 points.

Consensus All-AmericaThe Big 12 is second in the country with 96 football consensus All-America selections since 1996.

8th Offi cialAn eighth offi cial will be utilized in all 45 Conference games and four non-conference games this season (SE La. at TCU, UT at BYU, SFA at TTU and Lamar at OSU). The position of the eighth offi cial should be referred to as Alternate Referee or Alt. Referee. The general outline of duties for the Alternate Referee (8th Offi cial) includes: 1. Spotting the ball 2. Blocks by tackle opposite him 3. Blindside hits to QB away from the Referee 4. Blocks at point of attack on runs to his sideThe Alternate Referee handling these four main actions allows for the other offi cials, especially the Referee, Umpire, and Line Judge to be more effective in coverage of plays as the college game has spread out and increased in speed and tempo.

Television SelectionsTelevision selections will be announced on either a 12-day or six-day advance by the Conference offi ce. The 12-day advances will be released on Mondays while the six-day will be available on Sunday’s prior to that week’s games.

The Big 12 is 52-5 in non-league games in the month of September in 2011 and 2012 combined.

Packing the HouseFifty percent of Big 12 teams averaged over-capacity in home attendance for 2012. Eighty percent were over 93 percent of capacity. Five teams anticipate record-breaking numbers in season ticket sales in 2013.
