ABOUT THE NEWPORT

SEA BASE

Our MissionThe Newport Sea Base seeks to serve the youth of greater Orange County by providing quality marine programs that instill in them solid values, encourage effective team work, teach nautical safety skills, and provide a venue for all to enjoy the wonders of the waterfront.

The Newport Sea Base has provided quality maritime programs for youth since 1937. With a commitment to developing character, our desire is to inspire a love for the marine environment in the hearts of young people.

Fleets of boats include kayaks, canoes, rowboats, and over four dozen sailboats. Newport Sea Base is also home to three Sea Scout Ships; Del Mar, Renegades, and Triton, as well as the Chapman University Crew Team and Sailing Team, and Corona del Mar High School Sailing Team. Located just off of Pacific Coast Hwy, the facility overlooks 400 feet of beautiful Newport Beach waterfront.

The site is provided courtesy of the Orange County Board of Supervisors, and operated by the Orange County Council, BSA. A shining example of what a privately funded and publicly accessible facility can do, the Newport Sea Base counts an overall attendance of more than 35,000 per year.

Volunteer OpportunitiesVolunteers at the Newport Sea Base help support our mission to provide youth with a safe and fun pathway to success. To fi nd out how you can enjoy this most rewarding of all gifts, please visit in person, or contact us to arrange a tour.
