Dear Olympic View Families,
We have the best students! They always challenge themselves and strive for excellence. Congratulations to Gautier Menard, fourth grader, Ariana Petrosian, fifth grader, and Clotilde Menard, sixth grader, who are the semifinalists in the District Speech Competition. The Semifinals will be held at the District Offices in the Board Room and in Room C on Wednesday, February 28th at 1:00 p.m. for Grade 4, Thursday, March 1 at 1:00 p.m. for Grade 5, and Friday, March 2 at 1:00 p.m. for Grade 6. Finals will be Monday, March 5th at 1:00 p.m. for all grades. Please join us in cheering our wonderful students on to victory!
Did you receive an email last week asking you for your opinions and comments in a survey called Thoughtexchange? Thoughtexchange uses open-ended questions to gather a broad range of perspectives. Using Thoughtexchange in an effort to expand the opportunity to provide input and suggestions from across our learning community, parents, staff, and community members will be asked three questions: 1. What are some things you appreciate about our school or district this year? 2. What are some concerns you have about our school or district this year? 3. Based on our current three-year LCAP Goals, what do you think we can improve
to support all students in our district? It is only by understanding all perspectives that we can best serve the needs of our students. If you did not receive the invitation email, you can register on our district website (www. cvesd.org) or you can also go directly to the following links: English Registration Page: http://bit.ly/TXEnglish Spanish Registration Page: http://bit.ly/TXEspañol If you would like to learn more about Thoughtexchange, you can visit www.thoughtexchange.com.
Please join our Eagles basketball team today at 4:00 pm as they play Cook Elementary school at a home game here at our own basketball court. Let’s come out and cheer them on to victory!
This Thursday, February 15th, is the long awaited eighth annual Family Valentines Dance from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. in the auditorium. The Multicultural Family Association (ELAC Committee) has been working hard planning and preparing to make this a special evening for the whole family. There will be live music by our own parent DJ, Mr. James Ramos, and delicious food such as pizza, tacos, nachos, popcorn, Kona Ice, and beverages. There will also be glow necklaces, rings, bracelets, and Valentine plush animals for sale. A Valentines photo display booth will be available to take single, friends, and family pictures. You will be able to take your own pictures with your cell phones or cameras at the specially decorated display. We will also have an opportunity drawing for gift cards and prizes worth over $1,000. Opportunity drawing tickets will be sold in front of the school and at the door. They are $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00. Don’t miss out on these gift opportunities. Special thanks to all our volunteers for obtaining the fabulous prizes.
Please remember that there is no buying or selling on campus unless it is a school sponsored event or activity. Page 9 of the Parent and Student Handbook refers.
Please remember that there is no school on Friday, February 16th or Monday, February 19th due to Presidents’ Day weekend. I hope to see you at the Family Valentine’s Dance on Thursday, February 15th!
Keep reading and practicing your math facts!
Sincerely,
