There’s plenty to discover as you travel over spectacular moorlands and through picturesque villages...

Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet, one of Sheffield’s industrial museums, is home to the UK’s last surviving crucible steel furnace, together with waterwheels, workshops and a blacksmith.

Enjoy the spectacular scenery as you

travel over the wild Ramsley Moor and Big Moor, where it’s possible

to enjoy a multitude of open access walking routes over the peaks, taking in stone circles, deep valleys and high flats.

You descend through the

steep-sided Gardom’s Edge into Baslow, the perfect place to start a

one-way walk to meet with the bus again. Calver and Curbar villages are just a few miles north along the stunning Baslow Edge. Chatsworth is a mile or so south, along the flat Derwent Valley Heritage Way.

Just a few minutes from Chatsworth is the quaint little village of Pilsley,

built in the local mellow gritstone, occupied by many of the house workers. It holds its annual fête

and Well Dressings every summer.

The lovely Chatsworth Estate Farm Shop is conveniently next to the

Pilsley bus stop too.

Bakewell is a lovely little town, sitting next to the meandering River Wye

in the heart of the Peak District. Its charming old

buildings and character cottages are well worth

discovering, along with the happy mistake of

Bakewell Puddings!
