ABOUT

ABOUT 214 LIGHTING Founded on a foundation of a love for design and creativity, 214 Lighting is not your ordinary lamp line. By allowing customer's to design their own lamp from shape to shade online, each lamp produced is unique to a customer's own personal style or brand. Every lamp is proudly manufactured & assembled in Dallas, TX USA.

ABOUT THE OWNERS Friends of 20+ years, Kate & Ali are the owners of 214 Lighting. With a strong family background in the manufacturing and home decor industry, it was a natural step for Kate to follow in her own family’s footsteps. She then reached out to long time friend & fellow design enthusiast, Ali to help build 214 Lighting from the ground up. It was important to both to not only have their products made in USA, but in their hometown of Dallas, TX so they could have a hands on experience with their products.

MANUFACTURING 30+ years of experience in manufacturing goes into each lamp. Our process requires a great amount of attention to detail that can only

be completed by hand.

Each lamp is proudly manufactured in Dallas, TX USA.

3

POURING The first stage in the process is pouring the clay into the pre-cast mold to create the lamp shape. With the help of a little science and 30+ years of experience in making ceramic lamps, this process gives us the body of the lamp once its dried.

GLAZING Each glaze is hand sprayed in a booth to ensure a smooth, uniform look. All of our colors used to glaze have also been hand mixed using specific formulas to achieve the same color time and time again.

SECOND FIRE After the piece is glazed, it is now ready for its second and final round in the kiln. After this round of firing is complete, the body of the lamp is now considered complete.

ASSEMBLY Each lamp is hand assembled at the manufacturing company i n Da l l as , TX . Assemb ly i n c l u d e s a t t a c h i n g y o u r preferred base to the body, wiring it together, and preparing your chosen shade and finial to be packaged.

SANDING/SMOOTHING This is where attention detail that can only come from handcrafted products comes in. After each piece has dried and has been taken out of the mold, it is carefully smoothed and sanded by hand to eliminate any seams or imperfections.

BISQUE FIRE After each piece has been carefully reviewed, it is ready for it’s first trip to the kiln, also known as bisque firing. The t e r m “ b i s q u e ” r e f e r s t o unglazed, white ceramic ware. Once firing is complete, the piece comes out hardened with a flat white look to it, ready to be glazed.

LAMP BODIES All of our lamp bodies are produced at time of order from pre-cast molds. Great attention to detail goes into each piece. Because

they are hand crafted, no two pieces will be exactly identical.

Each lamp is proudly manufactured in Dallas, TX USA.

BASE OPTIONS We offer three different styles of bases in various sizes. Because each lamp style varies in dimension, we have pre-selected which

size base compliments which style. We do offer a “no base” option as some lamp styles look aesthetically pleasing without a base.

However, the stability of the lamp may be affected when that option is chosen.

NO BASE While we recommend choosing a base option

for stability, some of our lamp bodies looks more aesthetically pleasing without.

BLACK RESIN Black is always a classic and pairs well in any setting. Our resin base is our more affordable option, but available only in round and black at this time.

SQUARE LUCITE Clear lucite is a classic and sophisticated look

that pairs well with any of our colors. We recommend a lucite finial

when choosing this base.

ROUND LUCITE Clear lucite is a classic and sophisticated look that pairs well with any of our colors. We recommend a lucite finial when choosing this base.
