NSHA V is a Host Show for: Paint Alternative Competition (PAC)

Arabian Horse Association Open Event Incentive Program (OEIP) Pinto Select Opportunities and Rewards Program (SOAR)

Friesian Heritage Horse (OCAP)

Contact Tina Malcolm or Kathy Obenhaus should you have questions. Based on your membership and horse’s registration with any of the four organizations listed

above you can receive valuable and fun prizes from your organizations. Check out the websites for a description of how to enroll with your member organization and what forms you need to

provide to our show secretary for validation of your points earned at each of our NSHA V shows. AMERICAN PAINT HORSE ASSOCIATION What is the Paint Alternative Competition (PAC) program? Your community probably offers plenty of competitive events for horses and riders, such as 4-H shows, team penning events, roping events, horse trials, and other activities that fall outside the category of “APHA-approved classes.” Even though APHA is not officially associated with these events, the association does want to recognize your efforts on your American Paint Horse. As a result, your accomplishments can be recorded on your registered horse’s official lifetime performance record through PAC. http://apha.com/programs/pac/

ARABIAN HORSE ASSOCIATION The Open Event Incentive Program rewards both riders and horses that excel in all-breed competitions outside of the traditional Arabian horse community. As a participant in OEIP, you and your horse will accumulate points based on how you place in competitions and be rewarded for all of your achievements and hard work. https://www.arabianhorses.org/competition/open-programs/incentive-programs/ PINTO HORSE ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA

Pinto SOAR - OCAP Points and On the Trail hours previously accumulated will convert to Credits in the SOAR program. You will continue to grow from your previously accumulated balance. More information can be found in the PtHA Rule Book, or by contacting Shauna at [email protected]. http://pinto.org/index.php/programs/soar-program

FRIESIAN HERITAGE HORSE & SPORTHORSE INTERNATIONAL The Open Competition Awards Program recognizes Friesian and Friesian Heritage Horses excelling in open shows and it acknowledges them for their part in promoting the versatility of our horses. Our horses proudly participate in disciplines such as dressage, combined driving and combined training events, hunter and jumper shows, carriage driving, Western and English pleasure classes, and in-hand classes. http://www.friesianheritage.com/Open_competition_awards_program.htm

**OVERALL YEAR END HIGH POINT AWARDS “2017”**

NSHA V OFFERS FABULOUS YEAR END HIGH POINT AWARDS FOR EXHIBITORS, PERFORMANCE HORSES, HALTER HORSES, AND SPECIFIC HORSE BREEDS

In order to qualify for year-end awards the following criteria must be met with no exceptions: • Horse owner must be a member in good standing in order for their horse(s) to receive year-

end awards. If the owner is not a member, then the exhibitor must submit a lease agreement prior to entering any classes for points.

• Exhibitor must be a member in good standing. • Exhibitor and Horse must be nominated prior to having points tracked.

Points will count only after memberships and nominations have been paid in full. Any points earned prior to your membership and nomination date will not count toward year-end awards.

• Must work four (4) volunteer hours at the Show per exhibitor/owner prior to the close of the last show of the season (any other volunteer work contributing to qualification for year-end awards must have prior approval in writing from NSHA Region V Board).

Each owner and/or exhibitor must work a minimum of 4 volunteer hours prior to the close of the last show of the season. You may have a representative work your hours for you as long as you notify the Volunteer Chairperson, in writing, by documenting the hours on the signed volunteer slip, prior to the hours being worked. It is the sole responsibility of the owner/exhibitor to make certain volunteer hour requirements are met.

• Exhibitor/Owner (including youth) must attend and sign in for themselves at four (4) regularly scheduled NSHA V meetings prior to Dec. 1, 2017

The nominated owners and/or exhibitors must attend and sign in at a minimum of “4” NSHA V monthly meetings prior to Dec. 1, 2017. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month at a predetermined location. As of December 2009, there are no longer provisions for members to work additional volunteer hours in lieu of making the required meetings. Special circumstance requests must be submitted in writing to the Board of Directors for consideration before meetings are excused.

Only out of state members and those whose work schedules do not permit them to attend the required 4 meetings, can submit in writing to the board, a request for a meeting waiver. Once the board has made a decision, a letter of approval or denial will be sent to the member making the request. For each excused meeting, an additional “2” hours of volunteer time must be worked. Example: If you cannot make any meetings, you or your representative would have to work an additional 8 volunteer hours prior to the close of the last show of the season. Remember, members who do not meet the out of state or work schedule exceptions must make 4 meetings.

For out of state members only. If you request and receive a meeting waiver for 2017, you may work the additional hours as described above or you may “buy off” the additional hours at the rate of $100 per hour. Please understand you must still perform your minimum 4 volunteer hours. Example: If you work your required 4 volunteer hours but cannot make the required 4 meetings, you would need to work an additional 2 hours for each missed meeting, = 8 hours or pay $800. It is the sole responsibility of the owner/exhibitor to make certain this criteria is met prior to December 1, 2017.
