A distinguished faculty is assembled for the symposium, designed

to update the attendee on innovation and new strategies. Sixteen didactic lectures will be given to

encompass the topics of: aorta/cerebrovascular, visceral/peripheral, aorta and dialysis/venous. Panel

Dr. Michel S. Makaroun, Professor and Chair of the Division of Vascular Surgery at the Univer-

sity of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, as our visiting Gaspar Professor. Dr. Makaroun will give his

symposium address on September 7, followed by his Gaspar Lecture the following day,

September 8, at the USC Health Sciences Campus.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

• Demonstrate an understanding of the management of acute aortic syndromes and associated conditions.

• Integrate novel endovascular therapies into the treatment of vascular emergencies.

• Outline management steps in the contemporary treatment of pulmonary embolism.

• Distinguish the correct management option for patients with vascular access complications.
