About Numurkah Community Learning Centre has a philosophy based on the principles of community focus and inclusion. We provide learning opportunities for people to enhance their lives, increase or learn new skills. Numurkah Community Learning Centre is a community organisation in the Moira Shire and has a strong partnership with local and state Governments, Community / Neighbourhood Houses, businesses and community groups.
Membership You may wish to become a member to support the Centre. Members receive discounts and other special benefits from the Learning Centre. Membership is only $5.00 per year.

Enrolling is Easy!
Simply call into our office at 99 Melville Street and fill out an enrolment form. The office is staffed between 9am – 4pm Monday to Friday. A deposit is required on enrolment for the course and payment in full is required one week prior to commencement of the course. No course bookings will be accepted unless accompanied by a deposit.
Fee Information
Thanks to ACFE (Adult and Community Further Education) and Skills First Program for their funding for training through the Numurkah Community Learning Centre. A symbol next to the course indicates that it is funded by ACFE. Our fees are calculated according to Ministerial Direction on Fees and Charges.

Introduction to Community Services The aim of this program is to assist participants to make an informed choice before enrolling in an accredited course. The course will provide an opportunity to discover the skills and knowledge required to work in Individual Support, Disabilities, Education Support and Youth Work along with the employment potential within our area.
Introduction to Horticulture This course is designed to not only help you learn skills for entry into a full certificate course in horticulture but will show you ways to grow food in your home garden which you can use to make money from sales at markets and stalls. This is a great chance to learn in a local environment.

Skill Connect Course Skills Connect will provide the opportunity for participants to identify employability skills and gaps they have to further their job seeking and potential success in gaining employment. This will be achieved by reviewing past resumes, jobs, life skills and experience and creating a plan to achieve further training and ultimately employment.

Community Activities Photography for Beginners
This Photography for Beginners course includes: Sourcing everyone’s camera manual to suit their specific camera, discovering your desired genre’ Introduction to the exposure triangle (covering shutter, aperture and ISO). Beeswax Food Wrap Workshop Learn how to make your very own beeswax food wrap (30cm x 30cm size) to take home. They can be reused over and over for months, then either re-waxed to be used again, or composted to prevent waste. Tea and Coffee provided.

Murray Avenue Community House and Garden
The Murray Avenue Community House and Garden is located at 13 Murray Avenue, Numurkah. The House is open on Thursday’s from 2pm-4pm. Please call in for a chat and cuppa with one of our lovely volunteers and have a look around the gardens. We are looking for more volunteers to open the house for a couple of hours each day. Please contact us if you are interested in becoming a volunteer. Community gardens are a great way to learn new skills, meet your neighbours, get some exercise and improve your local environment – not to mention the delicious, fresh produce you can enjoy as a result of your contribution.
If you have any gardening skills or none at all, this is a social opportunity in a healthy and friendly setting.
We will be having regular working bees. Please give us a call if you are interested or check our Community Garden Facebook Page for updates.
Everyone is welcome to come along and join in the development of our community garden.
Little Free Pantry
We now have a Little Free Pantry permanently set up on the front porch of our Community House at 13 Murray Avenue. If you have any excess food items, fruit and vegetables please drop them off to the pantry. All donations to the pantry are very welcome.

Skills First Program - Eligibility Criteria 2.2 To be eligible for Skills First subsidised training, an individual must be: a) an Australian citizen, a holder of a permanent visa or a New Zealand citizen (the ‘citizenship /permanent residence' eligibility criterion); b) enrolling in and commencing training in a program provided by the Training Provider between the Commencement Date and 31 December 2021 inclusive; and c) physically present in the State of Victoria at all times at which they are undertaking the training and assessment. The only exception to this ‘physical presence’ requirement is where a Skills First Student is temporarily located interstate or overseas for a defined period as part of an industry or Practical Placement associated with their training, up to 50% of the total Scheduled Hours applying to the training and/or assessment they are enrolled in may be delivered online during the period they are interstate or overseas. Impact of age on eligibility 2.3 An individual who is under 20 years of age (as at 1 January in the year of commencement of training) is eligible to enrol in any Skills First subsidised training. 2.4 An individual who is 20 years of age or older (as at 1 January in the year of commencement of training) is eligible to enrol in Skills First subsidised training in: a) a program that is at a higher AQF level than the highest qualification held at the time of the scheduled commencement of training (‘up skilling’); b) a program on the Foundation Skills List (unless the individual already holds a qualification issued by an Australian VET or higher education provider that is at AQF level 5 (Diploma) or higher); c) training as an Apprentice (not Trainee) under an Approved Training Scheme; d) training in the VCE or the VCAL (Intermediate or Senior); or e) a Skill Set. Limits on the amount of training that can be subsidised 2.5 In addition to meeting the eligibility requirements in Clauses 2.2 to 2.4, a Skills First Student can only: a) commence a maximum of two Skills First subsidised Skill Sets in a calendar year (the ‘2 Skill Sets in a year’ limit). Where an individual is enrolled in a Skill Set(s) that is scheduled to commence at a later date in that calendar year, this Skill Set(s) must be counted for the purpose of this limit; b) commence a maximum of two Skills First subsidised programs that are AQF qualifications in a calendar year (the ‘2 AQF qualifications in a year’ limit). Where an individual is enrolled in a program(s) that is scheduled to commence at a later date in that calendar year, this program(s) must be counted for the purpose of this limit; c) undertake a maximum of two Skills First subsidised programs at any one time (the ‘2 at a time’ limit); and d) commence a maximum of two government-subsidised programs in their lifetime that are at the same AQF level (the ‘2 at level in a lifetime’ limit).

Fee information for Students - Places are limited, therefore to secure a place in a class, a 20% deposit of the course fee must be paid on enrollment. - Bookings should be received one week prior to class commencement - If minimum enrolments are not achieved, the class will therefore be cancelled - If a class if cancelled, fees will be fully refunded - If a student cancels more than one week prior to class commencing, a full refund will be paid - Cancellations of enrolment made less than five days prior to a course beginning will not be entitled to a refund of their deposit - Once a course has commenced, no refund will be made. If special circumstances exist, a request for a refund should be made in writing to the Committee of Management - If payments are outstanding, you may not be eligible to undertake assessment, continue to study, enroll in further study with NCLC or receive a Certificate or Statement of Attainment
