Medley Events – Conditions Medley 4BBB events will be open to members of both genders. A pairing may be any combination of genders. The pairings will be in accordance with the order in which the names are entered on the timesheet. There will be no “cross-over” of partners within the group. Number of Players Constituting a Competition: Singles events - 12 players to compete. 2 Ball or 4 Ball events - 12 pairs (24 players) to compete. ONLY AMATEUR GOLFERS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR ANY SCRATCH TROPHY

On Invitation Days Member/Visitor pairings must be maintained, Visitor/Visitor pairings are not permitted. Golf Committee reserves the right to determine the value of trophies depending on the number of players. Golf Committee reserves the right to amend tee times and draws, as required for any events including championships, match play or special competitions before the commencement of the events. Persons under the age of 18 years are not permitted in Restricted Areas, e.g. bar and poker machine areas. Breaches of this rule could affect the Club’s Liquor License.

HANDICAPPING

All players’ handicaps will be adjusted in accordance with the system laid down by the Australian Golf Union. Handicaps will be revised (upward and downward) as soon as possible after each competition event. Three Grades: (Daily Handicap) ‘A’ – +10 to 13 ‘B’ – 14 to 19 ‘C’ – 20 to 36 Championships, ‘A Reserve’ – 10 to 13 Stroke, Stableford and Par – Full Handicap Foursomes Stroke - ½ combined handicaps Canadian and American Foursomes - ⅜ combined handicaps Handicap Match Play – Full difference of lowest marker’s handicap Mixed Events – Women – Full handicap on Women’s index All members playing at other AGU golf courses are responsible for playing off their correct handicap, please confirm your handicap with the office before playing away. Please enter competitions under your Golflink Number. Players should be aware that the maintenance of their handicap is their responsibility, not the golf committee

HANDICAP LIMITS

Massey Park members visiting other clubs are requested to inquire in regard to the limit (if any) in force at that particular club. Maximum Australian Handicap: 36.0 (Daily Handicap) New Members: It is the responsibility of the proposer and seconder, immediately a nominee is elected to membership, to see that such new member is introduced to other members, is advised of all rules governing the conduct of the club, and above all is sufficiently advanced on the knowledge of the rules of golf to be competent to perform the duty of marker of a fellow competitor. Please ensure that you play with your nominee until he is so equipped. Visitors: Visitors are eligible to compete in only such programmed events as are indicated (invitation and/or open) and those they are eligible to play in at their home club. For competition purposes a visitor must be a financial member of a golf club affiliated with Golf NSW or similar interstate or overseas association. Country visitors will be allowed to play in ordinary competitions only if permission to play has been obtained from, either the club’s captain, president, treasurer or secretary manager. A country visitor is a member of another golf club who lives not less than 100km from Massey Park Club. Saturday Invitation Days: 1 Visitor per Member. Time Sheets – General: Member’s names must only appear once on any time sheet. Time sheets should only be altered by the member themselves or through the pro-shop. Member’s names from the reserve list do not have any priority over others when filling vacant spots on the time sheet. Early cancellation assists other member in getting a game. When withdrawing from a team event (2 Ball etc) the correct etiquette is to notify the remaining player or players of your withdrawal.

RULES OF THE CLUB

REGARDING CONDITIONS OF PLAY General Conditions: All events are to be played over 18 holes unless otherwise stated. In the event of a tie in ordinary competitions, except when the committee decides to divide the trophy, the winner shall be decided by a count-back in the manner laid down by Golf NSW. All major event ties will be decided by a play-off. Trophy events will be decided by count-back. Members are required to acquaint themselves with local rules. All changes will be posted on the notice boards. A payment of green fees will be imposed on any member failing to appear or cancelling (less than one hour) prior to their booked-in time on the starting sheet. Failure to pay fees, after 21 days, will result in suspension from golf playing. Players not complying with the above on three (3) occasions, in any 12 month period, will forfeit their privilege of booking in for golf, prior to the morning of the event, for one calendar month. Further no shows will result in a one-month suspension from all golf playing privileges. All players should make themselves available to commence golf at least 15 minutes prior to the booked tee time. Players should abide by the starter instructions at all times. Failure to do so may result in a 2-stroke penalty and/or disqualification. Start and finish times should be displayed on at least one of the singles card in a group or on the team card for all other events. Failure to do so is a two stroke penalty, for each member of the group. Competition cards/scores are to be entered on the computer kiosk within 10 minutes of completion of the round. Failure to do so = disqualification.

Motorised Transport: The use of motorised transport is permitted in all golf events, unless such transport is not allowed on the course. (Wet Conditions) Mobile phones are permitted to be used on the course during play. Ringing/vibrating (audible) whether answered or not is not permitted. Talking on the phone is not permitted. Penalty is disqualification. Mobile phone use in the case of emergency is deemed permissible. DRESS REGULATIONS Members are reminded that dress regulations apply whilst playing in any competition event. Acceptable dress is as follows; • Collared Shirt or Golf Shirt • Tailored Shorts or Trousers • Short Socks • All dress should be neat and tidy Unacceptable dress is as follows; • T-Shirts • Board Shorts • Jeans / Denim • Tracksuits • Stubbies or Ruggers • Any Football Gear Penalties will apply for any failure to be attired appropriately.

Championship Matches – Stroke Play; In all championship stroke play events, if a tie exists for the scratch score, an 18 hole playoff will take place on a date fixed by the committee. In the event of a tie still persisting after the 18 hole playoff, a sudden death playoff will follow as soon as practically possible (as determined by the committee). The winner of the sudden death play-off will be the player who is the first to hole out in fewer strokes, than his opponent at a play-off hole. All stroke play, runner-up ties and nett ties, will be decided on a count back. All players eligible for a championship event must play on the day allocated by the committee or forfeit. A player must be a full member of the club for a minimum of 3 months prior to the commencement of a championship event to be eligible to compete. New members without an existing Golflink handicap must also have submitted a minimum of 20 cards to be eligible for a championship event. Match Play Events – Conditions of Competition: In all match play events, in the event of a tie at the end of the number of holes specified by the Committee for the match, the stipulated round is to be extended to as many holes as is required for the match to be won (Rule 2-3). Matches must be played on dates set down unless otherwise sanctioned by the golf committee. Members competing in match play are ineligible to compete in a stroke play event of the day – this includes nearest to the pin prizes. Draw for Tee Times; Any player withdrawing from and/or failing to appear for any event, after a specified draw for tee times has taken place, will forfeit the right to enter the corresponding event the next year. The player will also be liable for all playing fees that exist. The player may also be suspended from all golfing privileges for one month, if the golf committee deems fit (i.e. Failure to provide a reasonable excuse for not playing). Draws / Tee times may change prior to the start of any specified event as determined by the golf committee.

AMBROSE Method of Play: 1. Maximum of four players in each group. The lowest marker is the team

captain of each group and hits off last from each tee. 2. All players hit off from the tee, the best drive is selected (longest, best

position etc.) to be determined by the captain. 3. Other three players pick up their balls, then each drop their ball within one

club length of the best positioned ball, in the conditions as the selected ball, e.g. rough, bunker etc. (no nearer the hole) and play. The player whose ball has been selected is the last to play from the actual spot at which his ball finishes.

4. On a par four it is presumed that at least one player will hit the green in

two shots. Bearing this in mind, the following procedure is adopted. 5. The selected ball is normally the nearest to the pin but may be the easiest

putt. The other three players pick up their ball and place them one-putters-head length from the spot at which the selected ball is marked.

6. Each group has one score for the hole. 7. As soon as a ball is holed, the other players pick up and proceed to the

next tee. 8. The foregoing procedure applies to all holes. 9. The captains of all teams to sign the score cards at the conclusion of play. 10. Handicap: 4 players = 1/8th , 3 = 1/6th, 2 = 1/4th.

Slow play is considered by many to be selfish play. There are many causes for slow play especially in competition golf, but you can do your part to alleviate the problem. If you are honest with yourself about your ability and make just a few adjustments to your game, it is possible to shave as much as 20-30 minutes off the time it takes to play over 18 holes. We want all golfers to enjoy their round of golf but there is a time to play the game and a time to practice your game (Competition Golf vs Social Golf)

PLAYING READY GOLF

• Commonsense

• On the tee, be ready to play, allow the shorter hitters to hit first.

• Be honest with your hitting distance.

• If you think you have hit a ball out of bounds or unsure if it may be lost, hit a provisional ball so you won't have to go back later to reply your shot.

• Whether you are walking or in a cart, go directly to your ball and prepare for your shot without interfering with other players (There is no reason to stand behind each other and watch each other play before moving on to your ball).

• Do not wait to decide who should play next – if you are ready to hit your shot and it’s safe to do so, go ahead and hit (Unless competition rules apply i.e. match play).

• Limit your practice swings – This is one of the major reasons leading to slow play! (Competition golf is for playing the game – not working on your game. It is estimated that players who take several practice swings before each shot adds as much as 15 minutes to their round).

• If it is safe to do so, at your discretion, call up on holes whenever possible (note the position of the group in front i.e. are they still on the tee/just walking off the tee)?

• On the green, read the line of your putt while your playing partners are putting so you’re ready to play (not start your routine when it’s your turn to putt)

• Once one/two players in the group have putted out, they should start making their way to the next tee (without interfering with play) and make preparations to tee off i.e. measure your distances, select club, mark your card etc…….

• Time limit for searching for your ball is 3 minutes (Rules of Golf).

• Other than a stroke event, pick up when you are unable to score on a hole.

• Pay attention to where the group in front of you are and also the group behind you – this will generally give you an idea of your groups pace of play.

• Your position in the field is directly behind the group in front of you (Not in front of the group behind you).

• For whatever reason as to why your group has lost your position in the field, everyone in the group must make an effort to catch up as soon as possible.

• Your groups pace of play determines the time the rest of the field behind you completes their round.

• Players wanting to socialise during competition golf or practice, social tee times are available outside of competition times!

• If in doubt…….. refer to the first point!

POINTS TO REMEMBER The lowest marker in each group is responsible for the manner in which the

group plays their round of golf. Eg: Observing the etiquette and rules of golf Repairing divot and pitch marks Making good bunkers Accurately scoring cards Playing without undue delay

In all par or Stableford events, pick up when a score is not possible.

Don’t leave buggies or bags at the front of greens.

If safe to do so, at your discretion, call up the next group whenever possible.

Study your line on the putting green while others are putting. You do not have to move about to do this, but you have to get to the position of your ball before the first player putts.

Leave the green immediately the result of the hole has been determined and proceed to the next tee. Don’t score your card next to the green.

Allow the shortest hitters to hit off first before scoring their card. They can score the previous hole while the other players hit off. Be honest about how far you can hit the ball.

Players searching for a ball should immediately call the following group through, and in accordance with the rules then have three minutes to search.

It is not intended for any player to have to rush their shot, but please proceed directly to your next shot, at a reasonable pace. Don’t stand behind other players and watch their shots before moving to the position of your ball.

Your position in the field is directly behind the group in front, not in front of the group behind. The Committee reserves the right to penalise a player and/or group for continued slow play.

If for whatever reason you do lose your place in the field, please try and catch up as soon as possible.

Please remember that all players deserve the opportunity to hit off as close to their allotted tee time as possible, whether it is 7.30, 9.30, 11.30 or 12.30. Your assistance in observing the above items may help in making this possible.

MASSEY PARK MEMBER’S COMPETITIONS

MEMBERS’ STANDARD COMPETITION (Generally Saturdays) Tee Time & Booking Conditions:

1. Must have a Golflink Number with current GA Handicap.

2. Must be a financial member of his Home Club with appropriate playing rights.

3. Access to timesheet from the Thursday of the week of the competition day.

4. Tee-time after 10.30am only unless booking is made on the morning of the

competition, then any available tee time can be booked.

5. Must play with a MPGC member (i.e. not in a group of 4 visitors).

6. Points 2 & 3 does not apply if a visitor is invited by the clubs President, Captain,

Treasurer or General Manager, however the visitor(s) must play in the same

group as the inviter.

Prize Eligibility: 1. To win the competition, visitor must have played at least 3 out of their last 20

SUMMARY OF WOMEN’S RULES AND CONDITIONS OF PLAY

A player should acquaint herself with the conditions under which competitions are played and read all notices before starting play. Players are deemed to be aware of all notices or local rules posted.

All players are expected to acquaint themselves with and observe the rules and etiquette of the game of golf and conform to the standard of dress laid down by the Club.

The Committee reserves the right to alter or make any variations to the Program of Fixtures and conditions of play subject to players being informed prior to hit-off.

All events are of 18 holes unless otherwise stated.

COMPETITIONS

Women holding playing membership and current Golf Australia (GA) handicap are permitted to compete in and are eligible to win women’s and Golf NSW (GNSW) events if complying with stated conditions.

Only those players holding full membership are permitted to play on Saturdays, except visitors on designated Invitation Days.

Players participating in competitions must play together, within the women’s block time, allocated by the Board. Breach of this rule results in disqualification.

Players must be ready and prepared to hit-off 15 minutes prior to their scheduled hit-off time.

Before starting play - each player should record her name on the competition sheet in the locker-room and place any competition fee (check whiteboard in locker room) in the box provided.

In Competitions throughout the season, including the Summer Competition, prizes will be awarded over two divisions where there are 24 or more players. If there are less than 24 then there will be a winner and runner up prize awarded across the field.

A minimum of 8 players must play in the competition of the day for prizes to be awarded.

Care should be taken to mark your card correctly and print details legibly. Ensure that handicap and membership number are marked on the card, start and finish times are recorded on at least one card in the group (see further information below in Speed of Play), and, check and countersign the card at the completion of play. Competition cards/scores are to be entered on the computer kiosk or handed to those on duty within 10 minutes of completion of the round. Failure to do so may result in disqualification. Unsigned and/or cards without handicaps will be disqualified from handicap events but will be used for gross score, and handicapping (as per instructions GA).

SPEED OF PLAY

The lowest handicapped player in each group is responsible for recording the start (when last player has teed off) and finish times (when the last player has putted out) of the group on at least one of the score cards. Failure to do so may incur a 2-stroke penalty to all members of the group. The strokes will be added to the 18th hole scores.

Any group finishing more than 12 minutes after the preceding group may incur a 2-stroke penalty to each player in the group. The strokes will be added to the 18th hole score.

The lowest handicapped player in the group is responsible for the general conduct and progress of her group. If you think you will have trouble finding your ball, hit a provisional ball, as you now only have 3 minutes to search for a lost ball.

On Par 3 holes, when all balls in the group are on the green and it is safe to do so, players should call the following group to play their tee shots. As a guide this should be done if the preceding group is still on or near the tee of the next hole. If you are well behind the group in front, play on QUICKLY without calling up.

HANDICAPS

All players are allocated a GA handicap. The handicap is maintained by GOLF Link and is the official handicap to be used for competition purposes. Any queries regarding a player’s handicap must be discussed with the Club Handicap Manager.

In the case where a player competes in a competition round before a previous handicap-altering score is processed their correct GA handicap will be the handicap displayed on GOLF Link and must be used even if the player is aware of her new handicap.

MAJOR EVENTS

Championships will be in two divisions – Weekend: Club and Bronze; Midweek: Premiership and Bronze. In addition to the Championships, which are determined on scratch scores, there will be a winner of the best Nett Score in each division over the four stroke rounds for Weekend and Midweek. In the Nett Score competition, player’s handicaps for all four rounds will be the daily handicap used in the first round.

The Club Championship and Weekend Bronze is open to full members only. Eligibility for all Championships - Club, Premiership, Bronze, Senior, Veterans and also for the Nett Score is limited to those who have submitted at least 5 single score cards during the period from Opening Day to the first round of the Championships.

Handicap divisions for the Club Championship, Premiership, Bronze Championships and Nett Score will be determined by the Committee after nominations have been received.

Full members may participate in both Weekend and Midweek Championship events in their handicap divisions.

Minimum Numbers for Championships There must be a minimum number of 10 entrants at the commencement of the first round in each division to be recognised as a Club Championship, Premiership and Bronze Championships. In the event of less than 10 entrants, the Committee will decide on alternative arrangements

Championship Rounds The Club Championship, Premiership, and Bronze Championships will consist of four stroke rounds (72 holes in total). For the final 36 holes, players in each Division will be seeded. The best net score over the 72 holes will be awarded the Nett Prize.

The Seniors and Veterans Championships will be played concurrently with the first two rounds of the Club and Bronze Championships. If there are fewer than two (2) players entered for the event, that particular championship will be cancelled.

Match Play Championships From the qualifying round, the top 8 will play knock out match play scratch, in two divisions. Divisions will be determined by the Committee after nominations have been received.

Foursomes Championship All players may nominate to play in either the Midweek or Weekend Foursomes or they may play in both (membership restrictions apply). The first named player must hit off the first tee in Round 1. Players will then hit-off alternate tees for the first 18 holes. In Round 2, the second named player must hit off the first tee ie it is compulsory to change hit off order.

Chick of the Walk all players may nominate to play in either the Midweek or Weekend Chick of the Walk or they may play in both (membership restrictions apply).

Midweek Handicap Match Play Cup Pairs play a normal Single Stableford over 18 holes except that at the completion of each hole, the player with the most Stableford points for the hole wins the hole in the Match Play Competition. This continues, as in Match Play, until there is a winner over the 18 holes. Both players complete the 18 holes scoring individual Stableford points even if the winner of the Match Play has been determined earlier. If the Match is all square at the end of 18 holes there is no further play and the result is a squared Match. The winner of each Match will be awarded three points and the loser one point. Each player will get two points if the Match is squared. In the event of a walk over, two points will be awarded. The winner of the Handicap Match Play Cup will be the player with the most points at the end of the five rounds.

Draw for Championships & Major Events Any player withdrawing from and/or failing to appear for any of the above events, after a specified draw for tee times has taken place, may be liable for all playing fees that exist. The player may also be suspended from all golfing privileges for one month, if the Golf Committee deems fit (i.e. failure to provide a reasonable excuse for not playing).

Nominations The cutoff date for Championships and Major Events will be two weeks prior to the date of the event. Players intending to play in these events must place their name on the time sheet available for that event. Late entries maybe considered and requests should be made to the Captain.

Medal Rounds All Medal rounds will be played in two Divisions with a minimum of 4 players to compete in each Division for a Medal to be awarded. Players will go out in Divisions from the lowest to the highest. All Club and GNSW medal rounds will have a compulsory draw.

2BBB & 4BBB Events In the event of one player not having a partner, that player will complete a singles card and at the completion of the round the Duty Committee will draw a player’s name from the rest of the field her score to be combined with the singles card. In the event of two players not having partners i.e. 2 groups of three players, the two singles cards will be combined by the Duty Committee at the completion of the round.

TIED RESULTS

For Regular competitions in the event of a tie, except when the Committee decides to divide the trophy, the winner shall be decided by count-back in the GNSW recommended manner. ie Last 9, then last 6, then last 3. This will also apply to the Massey Park Shield event.

In Medal rounds, ties require an 18 hole play-off using handicaps as at the commencement of the tied round. All medal play-offs will be played in conjunction with the next Medal round listed in the program. Where there is a tie in the last medal round of the season, the tied winners will play-off for the medal in conjunction with the next scheduled stroke round, or return a stroke card on any competition day decided by the committee.

Match Play including Chick of the Walk and Match Play Championships. Where the match is squared at the final scheduled hole, play will continue from the 1st hole until a hole is won.

Handicap Match Play Cup In the case of players ending with the same amount of points, those players will playoff in the next available Stableford round to determine the winner. If this Match is square at the final scheduled hole of the playoff, play will continue from the 1st hole until a hole is won.

Club, Premiership, Bronze and Foursomes Championships in the event of a tie, there will be an aggregate play-off over holes 1, 2 and 3. If still tied, there will be a sudden death play-off starting at the 4th hole without interruption.

Ties for runners-up to be decided by count-back. Nett Prize where players finish the 4 rounds on the same nett score the winner will be determined by a count-back.

MISCELLANEOUS

Whilst a mobile or portable phone is permitted on the golf course during an event, it is distracting and inconsiderate. If a player or caddie is in the possession of a mobile or portable phone it should be turned off and not used unless in the event of an emergency. If the phone rings this is deemed to be in use and disciplinary action may be taken against the offending player ie disqualification. If the phone has a distance measuring device facility it may be used, however the 'phone communication' facility should be turned off. In match play, the opponent should be informed if the player plans to use this facility (Golf NSW, 2016).

The use of a Mobile Cart is permitted in all golf events, unless such transport is not allowed on the course (wet conditions).
