Transcript of 2021 COS ANNUAL MEETING & EXHIBITION

Dear Partner,

I want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all 2020 COS Virtual Annual Meeting & Exhibitor supporters. Moving to a virtual format in March of 2020 for our June meeting & exhibition proved to be exciting, challenging and truly pushed the boundaries of what we thought was achievable. We exceeded our expectations and none of that would have been possible without the continued support of our industry partners.

As we look forward to 2021, we know that the Canadian Ophthal-mological Society’s Annual Meeting & Exhibition will continue to be the premier event for Canada’s ophthalmological community. The 2020 COS Virtual Annual Meeting & Exhibition attracted over 1200 delegates, and the highest number of ophthalmologists we have ever had at the Annual Meeting & Exhibition. In a virtual format, the COS will continue to bring together hundreds of ophthal-mologists, residents and fellows in ophthalmology training pro-grams, medical students, researchers, basic scientists, family physicians, and allied health professionals to share ideas and advance their knowledge to improve patient care.

Sponsoring the COS Annual Meeting & Exhibition will elevate the visibility of your company and position you for success while supporting the ophthalmology community. We look forward to working with you to deliver another world-class ophthalmology meeting.

Yours sincerely,

Mona Harissi-Dagher, MD, FRCSC Chair, COS Annual Meeting Planning Committee

The 2020 COS Annual Meeting & Exhibition faced unprecedented challenges and opportunities as we moved into a virtual format in record time due to COVID-19. However, the 2020 virtual meeting was a great success with some members expressing a preference for the virtual experience. Given the uncertainties around travel, physical distancing, and the lack of a vaccine, the COS Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to deliver the 2021 COS Annual Meeting and Exhibition as a virtual meeting, online and not in-person in Ottawa.

Rest assured, the COS Annual Meeting & Exhibition remains the premier Canadian vision conference and exhibition of its kind, and will continue to be a prime opportunity for industry partners to meet and network with delegates in the ophthalmology health care profession. The Annual Meeting & Exhibition will include: Subspecialty sessions, posters, ePosters, surgical videos, skills transfer courses, and an exhibition hall. We have heard your feedback and have developed additional opportunities to interact and engage with the delegates at the meeting. Please see a full list of benefits beginning on page 6.

Whether you choose a Diamond, Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze level package, your educational grant allows you to maximize your corporate visibility and build a personal connection with our members, key opinion leaders, and decision makers, while continuing to support the ophthalmology community. Your support will provide invaluable exposure and strengthen your brand with your key stakeholder group.

OVERVIEW OF THE 2021 COS ANNUAL MEETING & EXHIBITION

2021 SKILLS TRANSFER COURSES (STCs)

EXCLUSIVE SPONSORSHIP $10,000The 2021 Skills Transfer Courses (STCs) program has been adapted this year, but the same exceptional courses will be presented. While the STCs at the COS Annual Meeting & Exhibition have traditionally focused on surgical skills in a wet lab or simulation environment, in 2021 COS will modify the delivery of the STCs as accredited Section 3 – Self-Assessment Programs. The courses will be delivered in a virtual meeting format.

COS is planning to host five (5) STCs over the course of three (3) days. These courses will bring together physician faculty members to collaborate and share knowledge. STC topics are determined by insight from physician leaders, coupled with evaluations that highlight perceived and unperceived needs with the goal of identifying gaps in knowledge, skills, performance, clinical care or health outcomes.

Generous financial contributions are crucial to the continued success of the STCs. All financial contributions will be used to offset the costs associated in developing and delivering these world-class courses.

STC contributors help to advance specialized ophthal-mic education, improve patient care nationwide, and facilitate peer-to-peer discussion of upcoming surgical techniques and devices.

SPONSORSHIP BENEFIT DESCRIPTION: Opportunity for two representatives to attend the

Skills Transfer Courses as observers

Prominent logo placement on COS Annual Meeting collateral

Complimentary ticket to the President’s event

If you have questions about what the courses will look like and this sponsorship opportunity, please contact

Colleen Drake, Coordinator, Continuing Professional Development, at [email protected] or 613.729.6779 x. 235

Co-developed Symposia are an essential part of the COS Annual Meeting & Exhibition, are integrated into the scientific program and enhance the delegates’ educational experience. They are designed to be accredited for Section 1 MOC credits. They have previously hosted more than 150 participants over the breakfast timeslot in-person and more than 350 participants when hosted as a webinar. Evaluation results show these sessions year-over-year are perceived by participants as one of the most valuable aspects of the COS Annual Meeting.

Working with our industry partners to offer co-developed symposia, COS creates opportunities based on the educational needs of its members across the country, delivering relevant scientific content in an engaging way. Co-developed symposia are planned to ensure the evidence presented is valid, objective and balanced, and stands out from other sessions in the program.

We look forward to partnering with you to continue fostering this exceptional delegate experience.

The co-developed symposia hold a dedicated timeslot in the scientific program where there are no conflicting sessions taking place at the same time.

Note: Co-developed symposia topics will be reviewed and approved by the 2021 COS Annual Meeting Planning Committee to ensure content is based on the identified learning needs of the target audience, scientific balance and validity, and to avoid duplication with the scientific program.
