SUPPLEMENTAL CLASSES Primary, Intermediate, and Advanced Levels Charlotte Ballet Academy recommends students take the Ballet (and Pointe) class assigned to them
on their evaluation and any supplemental classes which will fit into their schedule (Jazz, Modern,
and/or Character) and are available to their group. Supplemental classes are designed to support the
Ballet Curriculum and develop a well-rounded dancer.

PREPARATORY DIVISION Classes are appropriate for students ages 3+. Classes meet once per week throughout the school year. Parents should select a class based upon the student’s age as of September 30, 2020. Charlotte Ballet Academy may change class placement based upon an individual student’s maturity and physical strength.
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS CREATIVE MOVEMENT In a fun and encouraging environment, students explore musicality, rhythm, creativity and movement through space. This class introduces age-appropriate stretching, basic strengthening, balance, motor skill development, and coordination. PRE-BALLET This class introduces classical ballet vocabulary, emphasizing musicality and individual creative expression in an innovative, fun, and easy-to-learn manner. BEGINNING BALLET classes are recommended for students ages 6–9. A traditionally structured ballet class which includes French Ballet terminology that is for students with little or no ballet experience.
Students who are new to ballet training will learn fundamental exercises and proper alignment, maintaining an emphasis on musicality, development of overall body strength, and the enjoyment of moving.
Students who have completed the Academy’s Pre-Ballet curriculum will continue to develop necessary foundational ballet skills to be prepared for Ballet 1.

Curriculum emphasizes proper placement, familiarity with ballet vocabulary and French terminology, musicality, overall strengthening, and the joy of movement.
