Application Requirements:• Application (following page)• Essay of 250-500 words on any ONE of the below topics• An official, sealed transcript from your school that contains your weighted GPA, un-weighted GPA, and ACT or SAT scores. If sent

electronically, transcripts must be emailed by school official.• A sealed and signed letter of recommendation from a teacher, faculty member, coach, or mentor containing their contact

information. If sent electronically, letter must be emailed by the party recommending student.• A one-page resume that contains any work experience and extra-curricular activities

Essay Topics:1. If you could start your own charity today, what would it be and why?2. What financial goal are you working toward?3. What does financial freedom mean to you?4. What steps would you take to reach financial freedom in the future?

Helpful Tip:Please be sure to effectively answer the question and proofread your essay. Don’t be afraid to let your unique personality stand out!

Completed applications must be postmarked or emailed no later than May 1, 2020. Incomplete applications will be disregarded and will not be considered for the scholarship. Electronic applications must be submitted by a school official. Please verify with your school that documents can be submitted electronically. All applicants must be seniors in high school and current FAIRWINDS Credit Union members. FAIRWINDS Credit Union employees, Board of Directors, and members of their respective households are not eligible to apply for or receive FAIRWINDS Credit Union scholarships. If this applies to you at the time of application or when winners are announced, you will not be eligible for the scholarship.

Minimum Requirements for Scholarship Consideration:

• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency• Graduating from high school this academic year• Minimum cumulative high school unweighted GPA of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale• Must enroll full time in a two- or four-year college or university beginning Summer or Fall 2020• FAIRWINDS Credit Union member

The decision of the committee is final. The scholarship recipients waive rights of publicity and agree that FAIRWINDS may use their names and images in promotional materials. If recipient is a minor, parental consent to the same terms is required. Scholarship award will be paid directly to the recipient’s institution of higher education. If selected to receive a scholarship from FAIRWINDS, award is contingent upon agreeing to terms and conditions, and providing FAIRWINDS with the information requested to disburse payment including a college acceptance letter, date of enrollment, financial aid department address and contact information, and recipient’s social security number. FAIRWINDS is not responsible for lost or illegible applications. This offer is subject to change at any time.
