Rodney A. Gabriel, MD, MAS Chief, Division of Regional Anesthesia & Acute Pain Medical Director, Koman Family Outpatient Pavilion Associate Professor of Anesthesiology Associate Adjunct Professor of Biomedical Informatics University of California, San Diego Dr. Gabriel is fellowship-trained in both regional anesthesia and biomedical informatics. He is active in clinical research in perioperative outcomes and acute pain.

Engy T. Said, MD Director, Acute Pain Service Associate Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology University of California, San Diego Dr. Said is fellowship-trained in regional anesthesia, and spends a large portion of her clinical time teaching regional techniques to residents and fellows. She is also active in clinical research and is director of the Acute Pain Service.

Wendy Abramson, MD Staff Anesthesiologist University of California, San Diego Dr. Abramson is fellowship-trained in regional anesthesia, clinically active on the obstetric anesthesia service and Acute Pain Service. She has been involved in clinical research as well as medical education in regional and neuraxial techniques.

Rekha K. Chandrabose, MD Associate Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology University of California, San Diego Dr. Chandrabose is fellowship-trained in regional anesthesia and is clinically active at the VA hospital in La Jolla, where she trains residents in ultrasound techniques. She is a founder of the Society for Advancement of Women in Anesthesia.

Ching-Rong Cheng, MD Clinical Professor University of California, San Diego Dr. Cheng started the clinical simulation lab at UCSD and his interests are regional anesthesia and medical education. He was chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at Taipei University in Taiwan before migrating to the USA.

John Finneran, IV, MD Assistant Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology Associate Residency Director, Anesthesiology University of California, San Diego Dr. Finneran is fellowship-trained in regional anesthesia and spends a large portion of his clinical time teaching regional techniques to residents and fellows. He is active in clinical research and runs the regional service at the Hillcrest location.

Brian M. Ilfeld, MD, MS Professor of Anesthesiology in Residence University of California, San Diego Dr. Ilfeld is fellowship-trained in regional anesthesia and has a Master’s Degree of Medical Sciences in Clinical Investigation. He specializes in clinical trials involving novel modalities such as cryoanalgesia and percutaneous peripheral nerve stimulation, and is currently funded by the Department of Defense.

Bahareh Khatibi, MD Assistant Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology University of California, San Diego Dr. Khatibi is fellowship-trained in regional anesthesia and active in clinical research as well as medical education. She spends a large portion of her clinical time instructing regional residents and fellows.

Preetham Suresh, MD Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology Medical Director, Simulation Training Center Associate Dean for Medical Education in Simulation University of California, San Diego Dr. Suresh is active in regional anesthesia at the Veterans Affairs hospital and is the Medical Director of the Simulation Training Center and Associate Dean for Medical Education in Simulation for the UC San Diego School of Medicine.

Matthew W. Swisher, MD Assistant Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology Fellowship Director, Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain University of California, San Diego Dr. Swisher is fellowship-trained in regional anesthesia and active in clinical research as well as medical education. He has special interests in global health, design of education programs, and systems/device innovation.

Jacklynn Sztain, MD Staff Anesthesiologist University of California, San Diego Dr. Sztain is fellowship-trained in regional anesthesia and active in clinical research as well as medical education. She is also clinically active in the Acute Pain Service

Brian Curran, MD Regional Anesthesia Fellow, Staff Anesthesiologist Dr. Curran has completed his residency at Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and currently is doing a regional anesthesia fellowship at UCSD.
