Your vision, brought to life with creative thinking and practical know-how.

Page 2: 2020 Projects

Every day we balance conceptual flair with pragmatism, creativity with physical reality.

Visitors to our studio in Falmouth, Cornwall, see exactly what this balance looks like in practice. Our premises are home to talented designers and interiors experts who’ve amassed experience of global brands at big agencies. They work alongside equally experienced manufacturers and installers who thrive on transforming vision into three-dimensional reality.

It’s this balance, this sense of an eager machine’s moving parts working towards a common goal, which makes 20/20 unique.

A perfect example of balance in action

We expect to be judged by our portfolio. The moment we take even one piece of work for granted is the moment the phone stops ringing.

When our clients succeed, so do we. That’s why we treat every new project like it’s our first: no assumptions, no treading water, no living off our reputation.

To assemble teams of gifted individuals takes time; matching up talents, balancing skills and nurturing relationships is a serious business, but we never lose sight of the fact that the business we’re lucky to be in is innovative and rewarding.

We love doing the job; we particularly love doing the job well. This means clients enjoy working with us, which is just how it should be.

New project, new reputation

We’ve become used to hearing this. Thanks to our 600m2 premises and our unique combination of skills and services we’re able to work on a surprisingly wide range of projects.

And clients who say this are actually describing the process we call 2020 Vision. It’s how that balance we talk about plays out: the client focus, the joined-up conceptual and strategic approach, the relentless attention to detail.

It’s how we manage projects and relationships, listen and develop ideas, and find the sweet spot where creative and practical blend to best effect.

It’s the core of what we do and runs right through our six key business areas.

The way the moving parts of our process work together is exemplified by how we tackle interior design.

Interior design

Nothing is done in isolation. While they’re getting to know the client and the space, our designers are already talking to the team who’ll be producing and installing what they design.

And that team, as it works on the practicalities, feeds back to the designers about the brief’s possibilities and parameters. All this time the designers are maintaining a dialogue with the client.

This fluid, continuing set of relationships covers all aspects of interior architecture, spatial planning with full CAD services, interior graphics, bespoke manufacture, furniture and lighting.

It’s the reason the retail outlets we work on become efficient and profitable, why the museums we help are engaging, why the workplaces we design are as productive as they are inspiring.

Perhaps it’s because this was how we started, over 20 years ago; whatever the reason, signage and wayfinding mean something extra to us. And although it’s not why we do it, the fact that doing it wins us awards means something too.

Signage and wayfinding

Experience, imagination and a feel for materials – as well as our expertise in production and installation – help us to create signage which becomes the public voice of your business or organisation.

There is no prescription for this or limit to it. It all depends on what you need: a single, eye-catching wrap for a van, a subtle, detailed suite of bespoke wayfinding for a prestigious gallery, a bold rethink for how a school or a hospital presents itself to the public.

Signage and wayfinding is how people interact with you at a fundamental, functional level. We make that interaction as easy and natural as it can be.

Behind every effective brand is a conversation.

Graphics and branding

However many have it and however long it is, there’s no substitute for honest dialogue when it comes to defining and refining who you are and how you present yourself.

All the creativity in the world – and we have more than our fair share – counts for nothing unless it’s deployed effectively and in tandem with you. Our designers have amassed decades of experience doing this, so understand the challenge of creating effective, dynamic brands.

They also know that this is about more than presenting you with a wrapped-in-a-ribbon package of one-off elements. To maintain a brand over time – across different media, adapting to change, ensuring consistency – is no less of a task than creating it in the first place. We have the flair, thoroughness and flexibility not just to bring it to life but to keep it vital and fresh.

We believe effective interpretation invigorates, informs and inspires a broad range of people, rather than just those already familiar with a subject.

Visitor experience

We achieve this by creating spaces which engage the visitor with an initial ‘wow’ moment; we then present layered, cohesive narratives using a variety of media. To do that demands certain things of our multi-disciplinary design team.

We have to be capable of properly immersing ourselves in a subject, of being sufficiently steeped in context to allow us to understand nuance and communicate complexity.

But the real knack is to do this while simultaneously standing in the shoes of the hypothetical visitor; to detach ourselves from the mass of information and continually make judgments about what’s truly engaging.

Whether it’s narrative panels, interactives, complete fit-outs or atmospheric audio-visual elements, we carefully assemble coherent, compelling visitor experiences that are stimulating and memorable from concepts to completion.

You might have a clear idea of how you’d like your event or exhibition stand to look, or you might prefer us to design, produce and build it all.

Events and exhibitions

Either is fine by us: our flexibility and versatility, allied to our creativity, mean we respond quickly to a brief to create displays as robust as they are striking. The state-of-the-art technology we have, in-house, enables us to produce highly sophisticated one-off displays which we’ll help you to set up and dismantle (or teach you how to, so you won’t need our help).

Events and exhibitions can be such fraught and logistics-juggling experiences that we are often a client’s headache reduction strategy as much as their creative consultants. Many years of doing this, and the practical expertise we’ve accumulated, have left us resilient and hard to faze. So our clients find themselves free to enjoy, rather than endure, their events and exhibitions experiences.
