Multifamily, high-rise, and mixed use residential developments are now a new frontier of innovation for architects and designers in every city in North America.

Metropolis recognizes this rapidly changing sector with a new column called LIVING, which will showcase the most innovative multifamily and mixed-use residential projects across the United States and Canada.

LIVING will recognize key elements including:• Structural and facade innovation • Building performance (energy, sustainability, technology) • Kitchens and baths (high end, high performing fixtures) • Innovative technology in the home • Amenity spaces (pool decks, gyms, communal kitchens)• Outdoor areas (decks, landscaping)• Retail and Hospitality elements, where applicable

Every project will be accompanied by a list of products and finishes specified in that project. This includes furniture, lighting, textiles, surfaces, and kitchen and bath fixtures.

LIVING will appear in four issues in 2020: April, May, September, and October.

Every month, Metropolis will showcase projects that represent the very best in sustainable architecture and design in North America.

These projects have:

• Achieved a high level of certification in sustainability through LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL, Fitwel, SITES, or other standards

• OR achieved a challenging goal such as net zero energy or carbon.

Keep live elements 0.375” from trim on all sides. For spread ads, keep live elements 0.375” from each side of gutter.

File FormatsHigh-resolution (+300dpi) press-ready PDF with high-resolution graphics and fonts embedded are strongly preferred. InDesign or Illustrator are also acceptable provided all images (+300dpi) and fonts are packaged within the document.

Quark 7, JPEG or nested EPS files are NOT acceptable.

File PreparationAll files must be set up as right-reading single pages, sized 100% and in portrait mode; no rotations. All files must be in CMYK mode, any spot and RGB colors must be converted to CMYK. PMS matched colors will be converted to process colors unless fifth color is requested, additional arrangements and costs will apply for matched ink. Metropolis is NOT responsible for color accuracy in ads that have been converted from spot or RGB colors.

For reverse, fine, or small type, use only one (1) color. Metropolis is not responsible for legibility of type smaller than 10pt (12pt serif) in more than one process color. Use only Type 1 or OpenType fonts. All fonts must be provided.

Incorrectly sized ads may have borders added.

ProofsContract-level proofs, calibrated to SWOP specifications and output at 100% with color bars from the supplied digital file, are recommended for all full page and spread ads, as a guide to accurate color reproduction on press. Laser and ink-jet printouts are not adequate for color.
